Thanks for this link! I'd seen KigenAngelo's massive effort to get Origins DLC working in Awakening but Mad Method's simple method of moving files around (using batch files!) to take advantage of DA's override hierarchy seems to be a most elegant solution. Now my dwarf can gather up bits and odds from the DLC and hopefully not have to worry about it all disappearing or worse in Awakening (including nabbing the Blood talents from WK).Rive Caedo wrote...

Hopefully his solution to the WK/Awakening texture conflict works (giving me the WK textures in Origins and the Awakening textures in Awakening) which I will know soon enough since I'll be hitting WK after Lothering (to get Alistair dolled up in the armor). If it does, it just means that Starfang (if I keep it, I may just give it to Alistair) and the Warden's Command armor (if I steal it back from Alistair) will adopt new looks in Awakening.
I may not get all the DLC items on my Orlesian wardens (just checked, I don't get the Memory Band or it's associated Formari Tome, but I do get others, including the Origin version of the Bulwark shield) but what I do get can be used to give the Orlesians (who already start decently-equipped) some extra funding at the start.
Thanks again for the link!

At least they will be able to patch it when they get around to it. Imagine if you were still stuck on a console with no HD and the only way you'd ever receive a "patch" was to receive a new disc of the game!13Dannyboy13 wrote...
I'm jealous of you guys playing on the pc, they haven't even fixed dex on the 360. lol
I can recall this happening once for me back in the dark ages of the early '90's, when I obtained The Horde for my 3DO system. Had a slight save game bug, in that saving your game would wipe out all other games' save games. Had to get a "patch" in the form of a new game CD from Crystal Dynamics.
So you kids with your hard disk-equipped, online-enabled consoles, you got it it easy.
…and had I not upgraded to a new laptop literally right before Dragon Age: Origins shipped, I'd have been stuck in your boat as well. When DA:O worked fine on the new laptop, I cancelled my DA:O preorder for the PS3.

What happened was I'd just finished the Drifters Cache Quest, went to Alimar Emporium to buy the boots, upon exiting the shop the game CTD'd.
So, at this point I'm not sure if turning the music OFF had any effect or if the loading of the dust town map triggered the crash?
I reloaded the previous save point just out of the deep roads and went back to buy the boots and this time no crash.
yep I dont get it either.

A small patch, but its better than nothing.
You mean this patch? If you're refering to the 1.03 patch then unless you shelled out the cash for the overpriced expansion then nothing actually is better in this case. This patch actually makes more bugs, and unless you got the expansion it really doesn't do anything else, no real fixes.

Why would you want to destroy the balance the devs meticulously developed for the expansion by using DLC items you purchased for Origins, in Awakenings?
I don't care about balance, I care about RP story continuity and enjoyability... Im going to continue to stick to my opinion that Awakenings was a balls-up, and let it rot in a dusty corner of my gaming cupboard beside such abonimations as fallout 3 and aion lol.
I don't mind the patch anyhoo, its fixed a lot of probs... though I do keep having issues with the game suddenly shutting down for no reason since i installed it. Or wait, that might just be awakenings messing with my beloved Origins game yet again...

I sure hope this is not EA/BioWare's attitude. The word is spreading about their bugged product. It will hurt sales if they don't improve testing and at least publicly acknowkedge existing bugs and let everyone know they are working on the problem. Even better - fix problems quickly.

After six months of no patches or fixes, it seems that this is their new attitude about games, release a buggy game and maybe fix it later, or just rush out as much DLC as possible to grab all the money they can. For six months they've been saying "we're looking into it" which at this point means nothing because there's been no real fixes.

1) Pickpocketing was nerfed on purpose. OK - not a bug. But who thought that was a good idea? Why bother taking pickpocketing if a player can't pilfer SOMETHING frequently. How about a new patch that makes it so all the random chests are empty too?
DA:O is back on my "greatest ever" list - but this latest patch is like when BioWare updated NWN2 to Storms of Zehir . . . just some bad ideas.
They may have wanted to nerf it, but they borked it instead. You can steal as many items as you want until you get money. If you have coins, even one copper, you cannot steal items.
By the way, Neverwinter Nights was developed by Bioware. Neverwinter Nights 2 (SoZ) is by Obsidian.

I'm looking at NWN2 SoZ box right now and it has Obsidian and BioWare logos on it. I assumed it was a joint effort like this game is BioWare and EA. But yes - I noticed both SoZ and KOTR2 lacked a little something once Obsidian got involved.
Well - SoZ lacked A LOT . . . ironically I did the same thing with the last NWN2 patch as I'm doing now. I uninstalled the game, went to a satellite site, and downloaded the last "good" patch. Then I just did not play SoZ - I stuck w NWN2 and the first expansion.

I can forgive mistakes when the perpetrator actually makes an effort to fix them. Seems to me a fix coulda been done by now.
