And the only thing that would surprise me would be them getting off their lazy butts and fixing the bugs that they gave us. This patch didn't fix anything, it just made things worse.
edit: the game isn't unplayable, i'm just miffed about not being able to use x-bows and the fact that stealing is useless. Only have stealing because dwarf commoners get it automatically, and so I can do the quests in Denerim.

I have to agree there, seems like money is more important than quality these days. They want to squeeze every possible cent out of us and do nothing to actually support the game unless they can make money from it, it's very sad.KS22 wrote...

While the game itself isn't exactly "unplayable", certain character builds are in fact unplayable. For example any character that would rely on bows as a main weapon is gimped from the dex bug, this includes daggers to an extent, but not as noticable as bows. This basicly takes away the option to build a viable archer, whether it's a rogue or warrior. Broken quests, missing quest rewards, some not even showing up, the amount of bugs is quite alarming. On top of that there's the save corruption that has been there since the start, myself, I lost over 240 hours from finding this bug the hard way.
It's not like these are small bugs, some of them can be game breaking and cost you hundreds of hours of playtime, while another (orzamaar main quest bug) can cause you to be stuck forever on the quest and you can never finish the game. The fact that all they've done in six months is release an "expansion" and DLC without any real fixes for the game itself just reinforces the belief that they care only about the amount of money they can make from us, and not about fixing the game. This greed that has taken over a lot of game companies is quite sickening really, money over quality is a good way to lose a lot of loyal fans, but it seems they need to learn this the hard way.

Undoubtly I believe that Electronic Arts is the main culprit here. When I mentioned to their tech support department that I was going to contact my Oregon Senators about their blatant disregard for the customer they refered me to their legal department: and, will no longer work with me to fix my game. What does that say about the company?

Since you threatened legal action, it's a prudent move for them to refer you to legal and cease and desist on any ongoing direct contact outside of that.Jallard wrote...

From what I've seen the beards in the character creation are also bugged, you change anything and you become Starvin Marvin with the most gaunt cheeks in the world. This makes most beards not fit at all, apparently they massed up and it sets the cheeks all the way to the left instead of right on the bar.

It means they are greedy tards, this is like the Ford Pinto of the gaming world. The car might trap you and blow up, but it's cheaper to pay court fees than to fix the problem.

I just can't understand why they continue to give us the silent treatment. I mean if you're not gonna fix the game just come out say it, sending a dev to say "we're working on it" every few months then not doing anything is a horrible way to treat the people that BUY your games. It's very sad to see useless DLC and PR gimmicks instead of actual fixes for the game, even worse is that so many people just blindly support this behavior. It's sad to see what EA has done to Bioware, the focus is on money not the games anymore and it shows, this greed is ruining the games industry because so few companies actually care more about the game than the profits.
You know, if someone from Bioware actually reads your post , they might casually shrug it off as you being paranoid or they might say that you're one of those "deranged" fans which David Gaider bluntly called some of the people on this forum.
Instead, they should be asking themselves, "why? what would make a gamer say something like that? Obviously this is someone who cares about our games, otherwise they would just be neutral to it." But I doubt they would ever say anything like that.
I'll quote something I just said in my previous post:
Remember when they gave us the line that the dlc team and the patch team are separate? Well, awakenings alone shattered that because patch 1.03 was mainly a preparation for awakenings.
"Various changes have been made to code and resources to support the Dragon Age: Origins – Awakening expansion pack. Most of these changes do not affect Origins itself."
Additionally, it introduced new bugs into the original game. Go figure.

That worries me that for the most part we are ignored, called "deranged" fans or just people who like to complain. I've bought pretty much every Bioware game that has come out for years and have been a loyal fan, but in the space of six months they have taken away all my faith in them.
It's one thing to ignore us, but they aren't even making an effort to fix this, I mean the fix for the dex bug is a simple fix which sadly I can't get because I play this on my xbox, even though it was fixed months ago in a patch that pc players got. Six months after I bought the game I can't make an archer, that is totally unacceptable, especially when the fix has been there for months. All we get is more DLC and an overpriced expansion, and of course the patch to play it that adds more bugs and fixes none.
I'm sure they'll shrug this off as an angry rant, but there are a lot of people who feel the same way, I just hope they come to their senses before people give up on them. I know a few people that have already traded this game in and will not buy any more games from them in the future, and if they keep up this way I'm sure they will lose a lot more fans.

its very sad - early games had very few bugs - these days games - sims etc are released and they are betas - im not happy paying good doe for a work in progress ( or even being a cheap beta tester ! - after all do thay pay me to find the bugs in this title - no they dont! ) - perhaps a political standard point is required - after all if you bought a kitched and found it fell apart after a few days - would you not be miffed by that???? somekind of legislation needs to be brought forward about shody software goods....

The bottom line here is that neither EA or Bioware give two ****s about
fixing the bugs. Their sole concern is revenue and more revenue. If they
haven't done or said anything by now we are wasting our breathes.
THEY
DON'T CARE! People are probably still buying the game and all its
gimmicks.
I think we should all start boycotting EA and
Bioware or at the very least write letters to our State Congressmen and
Senators, complaining about their business ethics and poor customer
service and support.
I am seriously thinking about
contacting a local TV station-- Channel Two On Your Side-- who are
dedicated in protecting their local consumers. Perhaps if it makes
national news EA and Bioware would have to respond in kind. I don't
think they want bad publicity!?!

Victor Wacther wrote recently (as in less than 24 hours ago) in the tech support section that they are gathering more info on bugs and performance, so i'm pretty sure there'll be a patch sooner or later.
This is unfortunate. This post means that they have identified a bug they wish to fix (namely crashing to desktop, and lag issues on certain systems...as i gleaned from the post), they haven't pinpointed the culprit, and are requesting more information from users. This probably implies that we are aways away from the next released patch.... I do hope to be wrong. But even if an earlier patch is released it would seem likely then that it wouldn't contain a fix for users with these problems.
---Note to Devs---
Dragon Age sold 3.2M copies already. If you could increase the purchase rate of the sequel just 1% with better support/patching, you are litterally increasing revenue by millions of dollars multiplied by whatever your marginal profit on units sold is (which is undoubtedly high, because MP is always high on IP). That should justify whatever you need to pay to get a 'round-the-clock, top-talent bug squasher on your payroll.
I realize some bugs are hard to track. The crashing to desktop on various systems etc i understand its difficult. But the bucket loads of bugs, like stealing being broke, haste not working, + healing not working, dex missing, roll against freeze auto failing, etc, etc...these are simple bugs that even i can fix - by the dozens, in a 24 hour period. You guys obviously have talent, or know how to find the talent needed, put some of it towards bug squashing / support plz..
