*** SPOILER WARNING ***
*Stealing Tiara from Habren in Denerim Market : works
*******************
*On occasion i get the msg that stealing result in silver/copper reward: works
*Any other steal reports successfull but doesn't give any items.
So it looks like the pickpocketing of the random pickpocket-items isn't working, but cash and items that can only be stolen from a specific npc seems to work.
Edit:
*** SPOILER WARNING ****
Tested the first Slim Couldy pickpocket-quest in Denerim (Lady's Maid). Worked fine aswell.

Very "nice" patch. I played it for 50h already on 1.02 (or whatever previous version was) without any single issue and now it crashed on desktop two times last hour (during the battle). And stupid steam don't let me downgrade it
Bioware! WTF?!
Thanx for the warning. I will be sure to set Steam to offline mode for a while. Your sacrifice will not be in vain...
Donations for the victims of bioware/steam are welcome

I noted this on an earlier page, somewhat relieving that it's not an isolated incident.
The same seems to be true for Dog's fetch. He'll bring back unique items that can only be obtained through his dialogue line to find something interesting (eg. the helmet "Duty") but any random item gives the "dog found an item" message without an item actually being recieved

Those of you reporting lag: do you mean your frames per second is dropping significantly? If so, is this happening only in large battles, or everywhere?
Everywhere. It is getting worse as I play and after about 2 hours the game will crash. No errormessage - it just freezes and ctrl+alt+delete is only way out.
Before 1.03 there were no lag at all and I have never had any crashes.
Is there an easy way to downgrade back to 1.02 or do I have to reinstall the game?

I daresay a patch to fix memory leaks is always welcome, making the game "harder" by eliminating shattering of higher ranked enemies is good. Armor penetration? Who cares, when you're high level the game seems to become relatively easy anyways. Console vs PC version, I'd say having to play on a console (i personally have PS3 version and PC version), PS3 version "normal" mode is like playing PC on "Nightmare" cause of the differing levels of tactical control.
Oh ya, and as a veteran BG/BG2/IWD/PST/etc. player, this game is crazy easy in comparison but BG and the like didn't have the great blood splatters or cutscenes although not hearing some power-crazed english guy talking trash kinda makes me sad

My thoughts exactly.Sylvius the Mad wrote...
Come to think of it, I'm not thrilled with the increasing change between how PCs and NPCs are handled, so I'll probably skip this patch entirely. Are the PCs getting higher Armour Penetration numbers? If not, then why are the NPCs getting them?
Having a level playing field matters.
It's rather absurd to band-aid the very core of the rules like that. If the armor increase too much... then reduce it ?
I don't see the point of tinkering like that rather than making a logical fix on where the problem actually is...

They're letting the game affect the setting, and that's a mistake.Akka le Vil wrote...

Give us a coherent setting with compelling events taking place in it and let us create our own narrative around our characters.
Let the rules drive the narrative. The narrative should never drive the rules.

Rather disappointed that after 3 months since the last patch,
none of these known bugs have been addressed:
Things Objectively in need of fixing:
1- healing bug, + healing items not working.
2- no dex bonus to x bows still.
3- unlimited gold from crafting potent lyrium potions.
4- Haste Bug, adding haste can actually slow u down b/c if attack speed >0.5 then resets to 0.
5- Ranged attack speed slows with haste (not sure if related to #4, or is its own bug)
6- Ancient elven boots not dropping on PC
7- Ability to freeze enemies/pc even when cold damage is negated (e.g. enemy is immune, or PC has anti magic ward on)
8- ring of study - getting a 1% bonus ONLY when u get 100 or more exp at once, bad implementation
Then of course there's plenty of subjective things in need of Fixes:
1- Some general rebalancing: i.e. taking the nerf bat to a few Overpowered abilities (e.g. mana clash, glyph negation).
2- Spell Resistance being able to reach 100% seems rather absurd.
3- Spell resistance giving two rolls (mental/phys/dmg + spell) to negate also kind of absurd.
3- Put all potions on same timer in nightmare (or hard mode). Or at least all pots of the same type (e.g. healing)
4- Maybe implement a few of the most advocated ideas in the dev posts (e.g. mage shapeshifter needs some love, etc).
Make the core mechanics good and enjoyable, before running off to create the next expansion, sequel, or whatever...
I couldn't agree more. What on earth were bioware doing all this time. The whole fix list is rather short.. Also it seems that this patchs has broken the game for some people. I'm not going to install it if all those horror stories (laggy performance, crashes, broken stealing skill etc) are true.

Thanks for fixing dexterity.
Yeah, seriously--what the hell?? Looks like the main point of this patch was to let people buy Awakenings, so that Bioware can rake in more $$$$. Just like the last Xbox patch was so that people could download RTO, again so Bioware could make more $$$$.
Love the priorities of this company. Is this the Electronic Arts influence?
Load times fixed: glad for PC people, must have been for them, because it's not an issue on my Xbox. Other than that, it looks like Bioware decided to fix things that nobody complained about.
Enjoy your fixed Dexterity bug, too, PC people, because amazingly months after you got your Dexterity patch, the Xbox is still unpatched.
Looks like my copy of DA:O will keep gathering dust, and I will definitely not be buying any DLC or Expansion Packs unless Bioware fixes the Dex problem.

I'm in the middle of the deep roads at the moment so no quests to test on but I tried to pick the pockets of the legion of the dead dwarfs and got the same result. Stealing success reported every time but only coins show up. Never inventory items.Toksletok wrote...

Here's an example. In the Baldur's Gate expansion, Tales of the Sword Coast, there was a really great dungeon called Durlag's Tower (you might already know this, but not everyone here does), and in that tower was a Demonknight. That Demonknight had 95% magic resistance. Literally every spell you cast at it had only a 1 in 20 chance of affecting it. The first time I encountered that Demonknight, I didn't have many spells left (I foolishly hadn't rested before the area transition), so I fired off a desperation spell of Hold Monster.
And it worked. The Demonknight was held, and I killed him easily.
Had he resisted the spell, I'd have died quickly, had to try again, and likely wouldn't remember that failed first attempt. But because he didn't resist, I got a moment of such elation at my incredible good fortune that I can call to mind the details of that fight more than 10 years later.
Knowing how long the odds are and still winning is a lot of fun.
Great Example! This definitly puts your pov into context. The old BG and it's children (BG2, IWD1 &2, ToEE) was consistent in exactly the same way. PC's and NPC's all played by the same rules.
It also reminds me of a similiar experience I had playing pen and paper D&D about 20 years ago. A dragon was diving out of the sky at the party I was in. I was playing an Archer Ranger and had the most hit points of the group so while everyone ducked for cover I stood and fired my bow at the dragon. Two Arrows, two 20's rolled on the dice, both critical hits (I figure I got him in both eyes hehe) and suddenly the dragon was dead. That one event shaped the rest of his career as a "dragon slayer". Always reminded me of how Smaug was defeated in The Hobbit.
Good times
Always nice to roll the dice of chance and come up a winner

It´s my third playthrough and my game never crashed... so I assume that is a 1.03 crappy bug.

It would definitely be nice if Bioware bothered fixing these problems, but in the meantime unless you're on console there's always mods. Combat Tweaks takes care of #1 for both your objective and subjective lists and the second #3 for the subjective list, there's a mod that specifically fixes#6 on the objective list, and the Expanded Shapeshifting mod adds something like 20 new forms onto the original shapeshifter specialty, forms that are unlocked by killing certain creature types rather than by leveling up. Having Morrigan shapeshift into a dragon is a lot of fun.

I can definitely confirm pick pocketing doesnt work with the new patch as well...
Yes, it does. I played for over 3 hours last night with the new patch installed and had no issues with pick pocketing. That's not to suggest you're not having issues with the pick pocket skill, but your post is implying the 1.03 patch is universally breaking it. Do you have any mods installed?
No I do not have any mods installed. I had patch 1.02a installed and pickpocketing was working fine. Installed 1.03 now I get the "Stealing succesfull" line but nothing is actually stolen. Nor do I get the "Item received" or any money. I cleared my inventory just to make sure and nothing new showed up.
Idk about pc but for the 360 I ind that this is very common, which is why I never take it.
hmmm....
