Anybody know of a way to fix this? Or how to save my characters/games if I have to re-install it? :-/

Is the patch on the Social site compatible with digital distribution copies of the game, or retail only?

It is compatable, or it should be. I've updated my d2d game from this site for each patch.vdeity wrote...
Direct2Drive still has not posted the new Dragon Age patch.

If you get patch 1.03 you automatically get all previous patch material included, so you do not need to get Patch 1.01, then 1.01a, then 1.02, etc. Getting Patch 1.03 will update you fully.
Thank you so much!
I played Dragon Age for several hours this evening and didn’t experience any sluggish loading. I appreciate this being fixed.

This patch is almost like a virus for the game (PC). It make the game lag, get random crashes and breaks pickpocketing. No word from Bioware though.
Only a short reply like "we are aware of the problem and will look into it asap" would be great.
Of course the best would be an estimated time, and a program that downgrades the game to 1.02 as we wait for 1.03b or 1.04. But until that is possible, it would be great to at least know that the problem is temporary.
Very good to see that they are aware of the "memory leak" though. The problems seems to be gone for most players (not all), and that is fantastic. If only the patch gets a patch it will be great.

Since the patch is what made my PC game completely unplayable (won't load at all now off of the opening screen), I am a little hesitant to try this patch out again.
Anybody have suggestions on how to save characters/games I've been playing? I'm afraid of losing them when I un-install it.

From what I got from Customer Service, the only advice they have is to re-install both the game and the patch.

Open up the Dragon Age folder in your documents and just copy the Characters folder to somewhere safe.
