Open up the Dragon Age folder in your documents and just copy the Characters folder to somewhere safe.
Awesome! Thank you! :-D

From what I got from Customer Service, the only advice they have is to re-install both the game and the patch.

I do have to wonder why it is we get patches for NPC scaling of armor pen (how does that matter in SP game?) but we still have The buggy Dialouge at the end game.

Can the team working on Mass Effect 2 be assigned to work on Dragon Age Origins? That game seems to be having better luck.

I installed the patch and loaded up the last saved game on my level 18 character. He'd been saved at camp. As I went to go talk to the merchant I noticed he wasn't there. The enchanter guy isn't there either. I walked back to the NPC area and noticed that the army representatives are gone along with the donation boxes. ALL of the camp NPCs are gone now and only my party members remain. Anyone else experienced this problem?

The save you made didn't happen to be right after the shriek attack, did it? In that instance of the camp only your party members are there. (Everybody else is hiding somewhere safe I expect.) Exit the camp and return, does everybody come back.

Still torn on whether I should install the patch or not, I really dont want to mess up my game and have to reinstall.

From what I've seen (and experienced) there are only a lucky few that the patch works flawlessly for. It wouldn't be such a big deal if this game didn't take such a long time to re-install.
I am waiting for them to adress the obvious problems this patch has before I try to download it again.

196.75 Alert!
NVIDIA is aware that some customers have reported fan speed issues after installing 196.75 drivers from NVIDIA's website. These drivers have been removed from NVIDIA's website due to these customer reports. We have also asked all partners to remove this driver. We recommend that all customers immediately discontinue the use of 196.75 drivers and roll back to their previous driver. Driver roll back help can be found here. For those that have experienced fan speed issues with 196.75 drivers, NVIDIA has setup this feedback site

Isn't it far more likely that the people having problems are vastly more likely to post about it than the people who had no issues with the patch?
I'm not trying to "excuse" the issues, but suggesting that pretty much everyone has had problems with this patch is unfair in the other direction.

I'm not bashing it or trying to be unfair, I'm just saying what I've been experiencing and what I've read on this forum. And, from what I've read on here, there's a wide variety of problems ranging from small ones to big ones. I never said for anyone to not download the patch either. Just that, since I've been having issues, I myself am not going to be downloading this same patch until I get Awakening.
I'm a bit addicted to this game, so I would never say anything bad about it or it's creators (for it is epic and I love it). If it sounded that way, I do apologize. ^^;
