Open up the Dragon Age folder in your documents and just copy the Characters folder to somewhere safe.

I do have to wonder why it is we get patches for NPC scaling of armor pen (how does that matter in SP game?) but we still have The buggy Dialouge at the end game.

Alister Calling himself king, when he isnt. and my Favorite "Well I guess Morrigans Ritual worked, and she left too." Followed by "How are you not dead? Have you seen Morrigan?" When talking to him in the epilogue. Apparently he suffers Amnesia over the course of 5 seconds.

From what I got from Customer Service, the only advice they have is to re-install both the game and the patch.

Impossible for steam version. If this will not be fixed, I'm calling support tomorrow  And yes, what about bioware points issue for exUSSR?

I installed the patch just fine. No issues at all, and it even fixed my longer load times. Well that's not totally true. The first time I loaded the game after the patch it crashed just as I hit play at the launcher. Ever since then, my DLC, save games for all chars all work. And it fixed the memory leak as far as I can tell.  And I have had no lagging at all, except on a couple of really large battle, which is as per what I had pre-patch.

I'm running AMD 64 x2 5000+, Win7 x64, 4 GB RAM, and nVidia 9 Series graphics card. And I find the new tweaks work a lot nicer in combat as well.

Can the team working on Mass Effect 2 be assigned to work on Dragon Age Origins? That game seems to be having better luck.

I think they were. ME2 is the only Bioware game where I exprienced bugs and crashes on a regular basis. DA ran flawlessly pre-patch for me.

They work for me just fine.

Edit:  I even loaded up one of my end-game characters and everything seemed to be in working order.  Return to Ostagar seemingly worked for me as well.

I installed the patch and loaded up the last saved game on my level 18 character.  He'd been saved at camp.  As I went to go talk to the merchant I noticed he wasn't there.  The enchanter guy isn't there either.  I walked back to the NPC area and noticed that the army representatives are gone along with the donation boxes.  ALL of the camp NPCs are gone now and only my party members remain.  Anyone else experienced this problem?

The save you made didn't happen to be right after the shriek attack, did it?  In that instance of the camp only your party members are there.  (Everybody else is hiding somewhere safe I expect.)  Exit the camp and return, does everybody come back.

Ah, yes, you're right....  It had been several weeks since I'd last played and I'd forgotten that I had saved right after the attack (before I left and came back to camp).  Obviously the NPCs had been removed for the fight.  Thanks!

*is currently re-installing the game*

From what I've seen (and experienced)  there are only a lucky few that the patch works flawlessly for. It wouldn't be such a big deal if this game didn't take such a long time to re-install.

I am waiting for them to adress the obvious problems this patch has before I try to download it again.

I wonder if the the patch fixes the upload content to the BSN? Missing character pics and such?

Isn't it far more likely that the people having problems are vastly more likely to post about it than the people who had no issues with the patch?
I'm not trying to "excuse" the issues, but suggesting that pretty much everyone has had problems with this patch is unfair in the other direction.

Patches are made as follows, if it's easy fix it, if not ignore it and say it's working as intended. The goal of the patch was/is to make DA:A work. You have already paid for DA:O, so nothing to be gained by working on it. DA:A will bring new revenues, so it's their top priority. Bioware decides what is important, the forums are merely a courtesy feature so we can answer each others questions. Welcome to the wonderful world of online business.

Hmmm.... I installed the patch, loading times are better, but! It now plays like an MMO with a really laggy server. WTH? I'm seeing characters teleporting, animations, sound and effects out of sync by seconds! I could run up to a group of darkspawn, tap '-2-handed sweep' and it would show the animation. Then they'd all just sort of stand around for a while then the darkspawn would collapse. Follwed some seconds later by the sound effects and then the XP. >_< Why would a single player game experience lag?

Just installed the patch, and now the game crashes all over again...
Thanks for making it unplayable...

PC version, running on Windowx 7 64-bit
Processor: Intel Core i7 860 @2.80 GHZ
8 GB RAM
Graphic: GeForce GTX 260 (driver 196.21 WHQL)
All the latest windows updates installed

I have loaded save in Dead Trenches, just before Brood Mother. Game crashed twice during encounter. After that I gave up.

Try playing without being logged into BW? Also there was a recall on a nividia driver (slow fan speed) it may efect load and lag also?

196.75 Alert!
NVIDIA is aware that some customers have reported fan speed issues after installing 196.75 drivers from NVIDIA's website. These drivers have been removed from NVIDIA's website due to these customer reports. We have also asked all partners to remove this driver. We recommend that all customers immediately discontinue the use of 196.75 drivers and roll back to their previous driver. Driver roll back help can be found here. For those that have experienced fan speed issues with 196.75 drivers, NVIDIA has setup this feedback site

I'm not bashing it or trying to be unfair, I'm just saying what I've been experiencing and what I've read on this forum. And, from what I've read on here, there's a wide variety of problems ranging from small ones to big ones. I never said for anyone to not download the patch either. Just that, since I've been having issues, I myself am not going to be downloading this same patch until I get Awakening.

I'm a bit addicted to this game, so I would never say anything bad about it or it's creators (for it is epic and I love it). If it sounded that way, I do apologize. ^^;

Voicing your opinions and/or concerns is your right as a customer. They provide a service that you pay for, keep that in mind. That said being nasty or just a wah wah never helps. Not saying you were either but Bioware is made up of people, not gods. You must not  fear them. Although some there may argue that point.

LOL

From what I understand the Awakening will have this patch included in the expansion.

Right, so, this has likely been covered already, but I always hate going back and reading past posts since nine times out of ten you guys go off topic to attack one another like Bees on Honey, so, I need to ask this.

I have been playing DA:O for my 360 for the past 3 days, and I have yet to see an update prompt, or the "New Download Available" scroll. So...am I missing something? The header for the Thread says, "PC and Xbox 360," yet I have not seen anything pop up for me. This begs the question, do I need to go about getting this patch in a roundabout way, or should it prompt like Normal?

If anyone can shed some light on this 'without' asking me obvious questions in turn, like, "Are you connected to Xbox Live?" I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks folks.

*Note* I popped in ME2 yesterday to download the Arc Weapon, and that came through just fine. So, I know I have a good connection to the Bioware/EA servers.

What folder should be saved? (save games etc) I want to roll it back.

Edit/Update: I just did a release/renew on my wifi, which shouldn't effect things (should it) but the game seems to load faster and have less lag now? *confused*
