Dragon Age: Origins Patch 1.03

We are pleased today to launch Patch 1.03 for Dragon Age: Origins on both the Xbox 360 and PC. You can get this patch for the Xbox 360 by connecting with Xbox Live.

Along with the below content fixes, this patch will prepare your system for the upcoming Dragon Age: Origins Awakening expansion pack that launches next week.

Patch Notes:

  • Various changes have been made to code and resources to support the Dragon Age: Origins - Awakening expansion pack. Most of these changes do not affect Origins itself.
  • Some players were  experiencing increasingly long load times. A major cause of this problem has been fixed.
  • At higher levels, non-player characters now receive a bonus to armor penetration. This mitigates an unintentional imbalance with well-armored high-level characters, since armor penetration previously did not scale as aggressively as armor itself did.
  • Elite-rank
enemies (lieutenants) can no longer be shattered. This preserves the
intended tactical design of many combat encounters.
  • Portraits for summoned creatures (like a ranger's wolf) were displaying improperly while in the party camp. This no longer occurs.

Please tell me that patch 1.03 for the 360 includes the previous patch contents available to the PC, i.e.
- Daggers now apply 0.5 points of damage per additional point in dexterity and 0.5 points of damage per additional point in strength, as originally intended. This increases dagger damage for high-dexterity characters.

Give my new dual dagger rogue some good news!!

it's been stated many times the the dex bug only causes damage to be divided up between strength and dextarity,I honestly see no issue with it,makes it so you actually have to put point into strength.

I am more intrested in something that would actually make the damage from ranged attacks more effective,oh and the spell power bug for shapeshifters

Can we please get a listing of changes in bullet point one?

no never ! bioware must intentionaly stay vague less we go and out that these changes will cause are  charecter to become a nug:O

It doesn't work as intended, that's what makes it a bug.  Why does a Rogue need strength if he has dual daggers and dexterity that works?

Does this patch actually fix any of the bugs mentioned in the big list posted on this forum? I just updated and I got on my character long enough to find out I still can't get Leliana's quest and rally still turns off when zoning, both of which were fixed on the PC version. Apparently a ranger's pet displaying the wrong portrait takes priority over little things like that. And releasing a patch to prepare the 360 for Awakening seems kind of pointless since there are a lot of people who will not buy the expansion for a console, or even at all.

Edit: If this patch only applies to new characters, and not characters that are already in progress and experienced said bugs that would be nice to know.

The Patch is up, yes? I've played today, and it never prompted me to download it. Is it possible to manually download it for the 360?

Does this include the fixes from the 1.02 patch that pc got?
Or is this just to make things ready for the expansion?
I've started the game 4 seperate times today and haven't gotten any update.

No. 1.04 will just add a screen to ask us to buy the next expansion. They don't give a ****.

If anyone does get the patch can you post how it works for you? Does it cause you any issues with your downloadable content? Do any other problems crop up? Etc? I'm going to play offline until I hear some feedback as to how this patch behaves. I don't want a repeat of patch 1.02.

I'm really confused. How can you skip a patch?

Dragon Age 1.03 can't be 1.03 because we haven't even received patch 1.02 yet. It doesn't even make sense. It's more like patch 1.01 or 1.02 if you consider the first patch the consoles got that fixed the achievement bugs. Unless 1.02 is the patch consoles got that fixed the DLC glitch with Ostagar and Specializations.

Either way, that's really shady and crappy of you if that's the case. Once somebody finally downs the title update (I suspect it's not live yet.) Let us know if this is all that was changed, and if our usual bugs and complaints still exist.

EDIT: Well... they said elsewhere it includes the other patches, but does that just apply to the PC or to consoles as well?

With the large list of bugs compiled on this forum and after several months, this is all they give us? This is pathetic.

All they did was copy and paste the PC patch notes and didn't even include the previous patches they received.

The 360 is not getting any bugs fixed. The patch is only to prepare your system to play Awakening, that is all. From talking back and forth between companies that released the game, only the company that ported the game to the Xbox360 is responsible for doing the patches, so Edge of Reality is suppose to handle the patches for the 360 not Bioware/EA. I know it sounds weird but that has what I have been able to gather.

If you decide to read the rest of the patch notes, there are other bugs being fixed. It's not just to prepare for Awakenings. It's not hard to look a few lines down.

The responsibility doesn't lie in Edge of Reality seeing how there was a previous upate to consoles already released by Bioware.

Has anyone even been able to get this yet? I've tried about 7-8 times since yesterday and nothing yet.

We may have to wait until next week. Microsoft is weird and only releases patches for all titles once a week.

how about fixing some of the major issues with this game... like broken saves. i havnt touched DAO since a few weeks before ME2 released, i was playing through ME1 again rather than this new broken game. i fear they have abandoned this platform for this game... why fix it when they have new expansions and other games to focus on... its been out this long and it isnt fixed.

Im being careful downloading DLC and patches to Dragon age for now on after the Rto DLC flop/bug. Im going to wait. And i heard that the patch makes the game more buggy. Not sure if this apply to the 360.

And for the patch, quit disappointed. But at least we get patches. Takes time, and maybe they dont do much, but at least they patching up the game.

Shameful. We still don't get dexterity fixed.

Until it is fixed I see no reason to support further development of DA:O content.

That is so silly. A few points less damage due to the "dex bug" doesn't make/break the game. Come on man, put it in perspective.

I'm more worried about save corruption and all the glitches with the ending. I play a dagger rogue, and even an archer rogue, and I don't give a crap about the dex bug. Whatever.
