If they want to continue making additional content and charge for it, really, it's their right to. Granted some may say concerning DLC "Pff, I ALREADY paid $60.00 for that content" but really you didn't. I don't think we grasp how expensive a project like ME2 really was, despite it's numerous short comings, but to act so self entitled and outraged about DLC I think is a bit too much. It's extra content that they're FINISHING and still releasing as part of official game content, free or otherwise.
Anywho, time to catch that bus

I wouldn't complain at all if they hadn't forced poeple to buy the game new to get the Cerberus code. It's obvious that all free DLC exist only to sell new ME boxes. Now if Cerberus network were available to everyone with a legal copy of the game it would be alright...

I don't think anyone's raging here about this. Except for this guy:javierabegazo wrote...
Even if the DLC WAS cut from the original project, it's pretty silly to really expect them to give EVERYTHING. ME2, as a stand alone game, is really intricate, detailed, very massive, fully voiced, etc. Why should BioWare feel compelled to make 2 games worth of content and sell it only as one game, cutting themselves off from a big profit to FUND such hi fidelity/quality gaming.

Anyway, it's definitely a good thing that they're completing what was meant to be cut and giving it to us for free. However, when it comes to DLC that doesn't arise from unfinished content, I have cautious optimism. BioWare's track record for that isn't all that great.

How about this, you make a product and I'll buy it used! That way, you'll get absolutely none of the profit! Dosen't that sound just, lovely?Jarcander wrote...

Bioware forcing you to buy the game new for free content makes sense, because if you bought it used they don't see any of the real profit, so why should they shell out free content to someone who bought the game secondhand?
I swear, some of you need to brush up on your economy.

I'm betting on something regarding Kasumi... BW still hasn't given official word on her, have they?

Someone already bought that product I purchased used and generated income for the publisher. I don't see how this could be viewed as wrong. This is the way economy normally works.

Aye, I am expecting they will have payed DLCs eventually, especially later on. But so far the amount of free ones they have given and annouced is suprising.javierabegazo wrote...
That being said, I'm so grateful they're making all this free DLC, it's really quite generous of a Game company, they don't HAVE to do this really
I'll point out that all this "free DLC" is stuff that was clearly cut out of the game to be spoon fed to us as an elaborate form of DRM/anti-second hand purchasing.
Which makes them better than jackass developers who rip content out to sell later *cough*Bethesda*cough* but still worse than those who actually release complete games.. which are a rare breed today, granted.
Oh Angry One. Your pessimism is one of the most uplifting parts of my day. And I mean that
That said, even if you take your model of better than a demon but worst than a saint, I'd gladly take that since we live in a world that has no saints anymore. I do not mind the Cerberus Network as a means to encourage first hand purchases (and second hand purchases can still get it with a mere simple payment), and veiled DRM. For two reasons:
1) Why should I someone that purchased the game at full price get the same perks that my friend who pirated the game get. He is no Robin Hood either, he makes way more money than I, he just does it because he can. He wants these downloads he either needs to purchase the game or get a legit copy with the Network. Sure he could just "pirate harder", but at least he worked for it. Actually he deemed it be easier to the purchase the game himself. Which makes me happy, since we both payed for the product in the end. I prefer the Cerberus Network over complicated virus like DRMs that mess up harddrives and DVD players.
2) Where I live the sale of second hand games is a killing. Now people who get the game at half price still need to cough up a bit of money to get these perks. Meaning the developers and publishers get some money from each resale of the game (potentially). Not just the stores. Trust me second hand shops are not the poor starving victims here, or atleast the ones where I live. They seem more like fronts for organised crime than 'improvished stores' trying to survive. So I endorse any venture that ensures the intial manufacturers can stll generate a profit on second hand sales.

@1: I'm sure no one meant that a pirated game should have the same perks as a legal variant. The main issue is as far as I have heard that Bioware (or more likely EA) has taken it to next level and now punishes second hand buyers.
@2: A valid viewpoint of second hand games sells, but I still disagree on that forcing consumers hand like this would be the right solution. On that note, I'm not quite sure what would be the right solution for this situation.
