So instead we all get the same n7 armor? And before you say upgrades. Let me point out that me1 had upgrades as well. Many different types, which could drastically alter your effectiveness in certain situations. (Medical exoskeletons, combat exos, etc.)

Only the people that grinded long enough. You say you hated it but you did it by choice.
Come admit it. You loved it you slag.

Nope. I never went out of my way for any specific armor/mod/weapon. I just took the best that I had at the moment. If that was Titan VII, then I wore Titan VII.

So maybe you'd have a gun that was super accurate and silent and it's bullets would rip through it's target and continue through others. And I'd have a stronger louder gun, that's bullets would freeze the enemy and then explode. It'd seem plausible.

But I hated everything about the loot in ME1.

Then you are missing out on a huge part of most RPGs. What would Fallout, Too Human or Final Fantasy be without loot ?Stabby McGoodstab wrote...

The point is that loot is not something you have to indulge in to enjoy the game. But rather it is an optional extra that is a large part of the game for a lot of people.

Fallout 3, and Final Fantasy, are not Mass Effect, and Mass Effect is not anyone of them.
Loot does not make an RPG, controlling a character to fit a role is what an RPG is mainly about.
Your sir, kindly, are wrong.

I didn't say that loot made the RPG. I said that loot is a large part of all major RPGs . Which it is. So you are wrong and daft.

So if a game has loot than it is automatically an RPG? because that is what you are saying, and in that case I guess DoW:2 is an RPG then cause you get new wargear in every mission.
Lets just clear something up. I am not trying to suggest that loot is the be all and end all of RPGs. I am just saying that loot is a large part of most RPGs including ME1. Please read carefuly before responding.

We are all in the same gear anyway and still end up in the same N7 setups IF the setups are done for stat stacking.
Having optional loot provides an incentive to optionally grind.
Having a game with an optional +1 axe that isn't needed to complete the game. Provides to the type of player an incentive to grind for the optional +1 axe and the type player that doesn't want to get the +1 axe isn't negatively effected since it is optional and not mandatory for the game.
From a post I read...
ME1 has too much.
ME2 has too little.
ME3 should find the right mix.

You didn't seem to get what i was saying. And i'm not wrong. See they have removed or dumbed down on something that is a part of traditional RPGs.
Because of the lack of loot there is reduced customization. And the loot isn't the only thing.
The leveling system has been over simplified too.
Also because of the Renegade/Paragon system you are more or less encouraged to be good or bad and there is little grey area in between. Which again waters down the RPG element.
If you disagree then that is cool. But don't just say you disagree. Formulate your opinion and describe it. Otherwise no-one is interested.
