Does anyone else prefer this over The Good, The Bad and The Ugly?
It seems slightly bloated by comparison and the Col. Mortimer/Eastwood character dichotomy seems to work better than that of the Tuco/Eastwood character dichotomy. The basic story and leadup to the shootout is also better. I think it's a very under-rated movie, easily the best of the three.

Sorry, have to say The Good, The Bad and The Ugly is my favorite of the three.

It is impossible for me to raise any of them above the others. Unforgiven tops them but only slightly.

The good the bad and the ugly just has the edge for me, Eli Wallach/Tuco being simply the most entertaining character in any western I've seen.
That said I do thing it's under rated, often overlooked in favour of The Good, The Bad and The Ugly though I'd still rather watch Once Upon a Time in the West.

If you want to throw in Unforgiven, I'd still have to say The Good, The Bad & The Ugly is still my favorite with Unforgiven coming in second.
But it's like waffles, pancakes, french toast & crepes...they're all good.

I wish there were more Westerns being made. I think the last good one was 3 10 to yuma and before that it was Unforgiven. More then a decade is a long time to wait.
I am having high hopes for Jonah Hex since it has Josh Brolin staring.

I thought Appaloosa was pretty good actually, you should check that out if you haven't yet seen it addiction21.

The Quick and the Dead was ok imo, but that was purely due to Gene Hackman, every time he's off-screen the movie takes a dive. It was a terrible move putting Sharon Stone as the lead.

For a Few Dollars More was better than a Fistful of Dollars, but neither of those two seem to match the scope of The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly.
From the classic opening song, to Clint Eastwood watching over a civil war battle, to the dynamite final fifteen minutes. I'll never forget the music when Tuco is running to find the gravesite. Plus it tops a Few Dollars More by having a three way showdown.
But, I do prefer Lee Van Cleef in a Few Dollars More. He seemed more suited for that role.
