Geez.. talk about invasion of privacy-
I just want to play the bloody game-why do I have to log online? What benefit do I get from doing so?
I capped my internet the other day, so not keen on having to wait for three or five hours on dial up speeds connecting to the DA:O servers..I have got all the DLC I could get..do I need to remain logged online in the game while I play? Or can I just hopefully forego that?
thanks.
Hi. Why log online in game??? What purpose?

Once you've logged in once and activated the account, including the dlc you don't have to be logged in to play after that.
Edit: just turn off all the online options. The purpose is to upload stats and screenshots to this site so friends can track your progress, but you don't have to do it by any means.

its not neccesary to stay logged in indeed, however for those that have broadband connections its actually quite comfy. im hoping they will link more of there games to this social website. like The old Republic.

You have to be logged in when you load a game containing DLC content. I guess from what others are saying that you can log out after you've loaded your game, I haven't tried since I'm on broadband and don't really care if I stay connected.

You have to log in once so its activated. Once the content has been activated once you don't have to log in anymore. I tested by disabling my internet connection. You can play the game, including DLC, just fine without being connected to the internet.

I only use the internet every once in a while because I'm on a router that's going wirelessly to my laptop and three other computers, a Xbox 360 and a PS3. I disconnect my internet card when I'm not using it, and I bought this game at Gamestop. I had my wireless card disconnected when I installed this game and played through the beginning. I was unaware that you had to be online.
