If we get awakening do you think that the new specializations, spells,
and talents will be integrated and available in the original game, the
same NWN2, when they released an expansion all the new job stuff was
made available in the OC?

Might be better to ask that in the Awakenings forum.

It's already been said by the BW devs that the new spells/talents/specializations/higher level cap will *not* be brought back into Origins.
We each have to import an Origins character into Awakening, or start as a new Orlesian warden. Characters below some "floor" level will be auto-leveled up. But you can't then take an Awakening character and import it back into Origins.

That wasn't really the question I think. In Origins, once you unlock a specialization it's always availalbe for any character regardness of whether it's been unlocked in-story. Ultimately people were wondering if these new specializations would be in the list of choices if you started a new character.
Apparently the way it's been programmed, the answer is no.

What an enormous disappointment that is.
In Neverwinter Nights when you added classes and spells with the expansion pack you were able to use those in the original game. If we have new specializations it seems stupid that we can't use them in the original game.
The replay value of Dragon Age has just taken another huge hit. The first being the announcement that DLC loot is worthless cause you can't bring it to the expansion.
Exactly what kind of expansion is this anyway??
Horrible.

Agreed...
Seriously? how much extra effort would have been required to make the specializations available in origins? A week to a month more?

While I would generallly agree, note that the new specs and abilities are meant for level 20+ content (read: Awakening) - pretty much like the "epic" character levels in DnD. Just look at the 80+ cost/upkeep of some of the new abilities. You wouldn't be able to use them much in Origins anyway and the most powerful ones probably have high level or stat requirements which you couldn't meet before Landsmeet anyway. Think back to BG2 or NWN. It's not like you could use your epic abilities in the vanilla games much, even if you installed the addon(s). In fact, if memory serves, you couldn't even advance beyond level 20 in the original NWN campaign even with HotU installed. And after 5 complete playthroughs of Origins, I have yet to reach the level cap of 25 (24 being my highest).

I'm pretty sure it is not an action of convenience to disable import of Awakening characters or its specialisations but rather of deliberation to ensure Origins game balance is not disrupted. Not that balance matters a lot in a single player RPG, but having those Awakening skills / characters in Origins will pretty much steam roll everything in it, defeating the whole purpose of playing through the game proper especially in nightmare difficulty. If this restriction really bothers you that much, I'm very certain some nice chap will upload a mod to disable it as soon the expansion is out.

The issue is the new specializations. You get a specialization point at level 7. You will not be able to use that specialization in the original campaign.
In Neverwinter Nights certain classes were added later. Live Favored Soul for example (one I remember). That class could then be used in the original campaign. We can't do that here.

I agree it is a big disappointment. Awakening is starting to feel more like a complete stand alone game with the Dragon Age Engine then an expansion.

I'd say that's exactly what it is. A small stand-alone game that can import a previous save.

Basically the imported save is your origin story for awakenings. Or you can start a new character with a different origin. And you can import gear which apparently gets old very quickly (at least that's the justification for not being able to import all of your DLC gear).
So, yeah, stand alone small game that does nothing to enhance the original game you need to play it.
Usually expansions offer some replay value to the original game and this one clearly does not and that's really the point overall.

Although it is possibly important to note that he said the new specializations currently will not be accessible in Origins.

You want to play the new races, classes, and specilizations in the Origins?
That'll be another $40 later on.

LOL, or a good mod. Lets see how long it takes for the new specs to show up in a mod.

Maybe EA/BW should start paying modders...

That will never happen. Besides, a mod like that would be really easy to make. Now, some of the mods I have seen for other games, like for Bethesda's Oblivion are truly amazing. LOL, I would have shelved Oblivion after two weeks if it were not for the mods. I never beat the unmodded version.
One of the reasons that I always buy RPG's on the PC. My 20 inch monitor may suck when compared to a nice flat screen. My tiny PC Klipsch speakers are nowhere near as good as my entertainment center. But at the end of the day I can change the game to how I like it. That and I don't want to argue with the wife for the nice TV! No gaming for you tonight, it is Grey's Anatomy. Errrrr. Go play on the ten year old 30 inch Sanyo TV. Lol!
On a more serious note, I really don't understand why Bioware is not including the DLC items or the new specs in Orgins. Clearly their customers want it. I know I do! But I guess deadlines and all that jazz. If you are running behind schedule it is easier to cut that sort of stuff. I know I am going to sound cynical, but I really wonder if pressures from EA to meet the release date are a factor. But from a programming standpoint, I really can not see the issue.
