lol, you think the Cain's useless? There's no other heavy weapon that can wipe out TWO YMIR mechs on Insanity, phimseto wrote...

Sure does look like it's this Heavy Weapon.
In the immortal words of Master Shake, "Wow, it's the best gift I could have never wanted!"
I'm one more heavy weapon away from having a Normandy garage sale.
"Kasumi, keep marking down the Cain. I don't care how little we get for it. I want that useless piece of crap off my ship by the time we leave port."

QTF. Takes out that geth colossus on Haestrom quite nicely too.

Meh I've had the strangest thing happen the other day. I shot a YMIR in the head with the Widow and its head exploded but instead of blowing up it just fell to its knees and sat there for about 10 seconds or something with a red light flashing from its neck. When I saw that I immediately realized it meand bad news so I put some distance and took cover.....sure enough it blew up like nuke fired from the Cain complete with the mushroom cloud and everything. That was strange....I tried to repeat it but they die too fast once the shields are gone.
Yea 1st time I saw that was yesterday... coincidence?...

I found other heavy weapons much more effective via cost/benefit ammo/damage dealt. I could see how the Cain would be good against YMIR, but playing on veteran, they were never unmanageable to me. I am still up in the air about whether I want to tackle insanity level or not (it sounds like a terrible grind, particularly with the amount of fighting in ME2). If I do, though, I will keep your words in mind.
On easier difficulties, the game is ENTIRELY possible without having to resort to ANY of the heavy weapons. however, you should try Insanity, Enemies are no long super damage sponges, with the silly exception of Scions. Insanity is basically enemies do more damage to you, and it feels really. A burst from an enemies assault rifle should damage me as much as I damage them.
Oh, and YMIR mechs on Insanity are just fearsome
But on insanity, Heavy weapons are a god send.
I remember this one level where you are on an N7 msision and you land outside an blue suns base and 9 blue suns mercs all at once rush out of the gate. Normally, this fight would take you about 7-10 minutes, but with the cain, it's all over in less than 20 seconds

it's a patch that will permanently attach a helmet to all of Shepard's casual attire.
(It's probably the arc projector heavy weapon, though.)

Also looks like new armor on Shepard. Could be wrong though.
Clearly you are wrong. It can't be new armour until it has a helmet that cannot be toggled and thus incites the dissatisfaction of a certain group of people on the boards.

That armour looks like another companion piece to go with the new glorified taser. Just like the Terminus armour to the Blackstorm and the collector armour to the collector rifle.

Doubt I'll find much use for it, but it's always nice to know there's something for every situation. I can easily see this piece of equipment making the IFF mission on Insanity somewhat easier for a lot of people, though. The armor looks pretty slick, I wonder what stats it will boost.

Meh it only has 15 ammo and I already have 4/5 heavy weapon ammo upgrades.
Verdict: worthless.
You're delusional.
On the harder difficulties, one shot is enough to strip virtually all targets on screen of shields/barriers (provided they are in front of you and within 10-15 ft of each other. Its not effective against armor but against health it stuns all organics similar to how disruptor rounds stun synthetics.
Verdict: Best heavy weapon of them all

I've played insanity without ever using a heavy weapon except for the colossus...which has armor....hell any half decent enemy has armor. If you need a heavy weapon to help you with the petty little enemies then you have no business playing the higher difficulties in the first. I very rarely have any problem dispatching the large groups of averave mercs or geth or robots. The ONLY reason I ever carry a heavy weapon around is for the occasional huge boss like the colossus and the end game one....though I ended up not even using the heavy weapon on the final boss because I forgot and stuck with my regular weapons.
Your argument basically ammouts to: "OMG now the fluffy bunny rabbits can't kick my behind anymore"
So sad.
