Is there a way to unpatch the patch??
Ooops, sorry for the duplication here; didn't see that my last post "took".

And, while that may be understandable they still have an obligation to there "PAYING" customers. Or, do you disagree?
no. they have to react in some way as fast as possible

Yup, i'm experiencing the pickpocketing problems as well, and no improvement in load times.

Are you running the steam version? There seems to be no way to unpatch that. With the boxed version the only way to do it is to uninstall completely and reinstall only the 1.02a patch.
It saddens me that I must wait to buy the expansion due to its reliance on this broken patch. While I realise that mileage may vary on this patch, my experience with it has been such that I don't expect the expansion to run for more than 10 minutes without crashing mid-combat if it shares the same problems DA:O has with this patch.
I hope Bioware recognises this as a problem and corrects this soon. This is quite possibly the first time a broken patch has prohibited me from picking up an expansion. It's fortunate I didn't preorder this.

I'll ad my two cents; pick pocketing is broken As reported, it seems you can pick pocket money, but not items. You get the message that stealing was successful but no item in your inventory. I had thought it was working okay, but that was a result of poor testing on my part. Further investigation tonight confirmed it's not working with this patch. So far, I've seen no other issues. The game did crash once last night, but it's been prone to that for me since I got it, so I won't attribute that to the patch.
System specs:
Core 2 Duo E6750 overclocked to 3.4 GHz
4 GBs (2 x 2GB) Mushkin Redlines
GeForce GTX 260 Core 216
Gigabyte P35 DS3L motherboard
3 hard drives, with the game installed on a separate drive to the OS.
Mods: Respec mod, faster stealing cooldown mod, stamina potion mod, Innodil's Pocket Plane mod.
Riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight so because the game ISNT crashing for you, must mean that the rest of us are liars or there is something ate up on OUR end.....Right Right....Of COURSE....Does this guy smell of EA to anyone else or is it just me?
First of all, I'm not an EA or BioWare employee (sorry Melkathi). Second of all, I pointed out in this post you quoted that my game did crash, as have many others, but noted that my game was crashing before the patch, so I wasn't going to attribute the crash solely to the patch. Third, please reread my posts. Not just the one you quoted, but all of them. I made a list of what I think are issues caused by this patch. Crashing is on that list. Middle of page six of you're interested. Finally, if you have issues with your game due to this patch, please post them here along with as much info as you can. The more info the better. If you have issues with me or other forum members, then take it to PMs. This thread is for bug reporting.
A few questions. Is this not the Official Bioware Forum? Is
this not the place as you the “moderator” just wrote the place for owners of
the game “Dragon Age Origins” should report the ”bugs” we are having with DA:O?
If the answer to these questions are yes, then why are you,
a non EA employee, trying to address our problem, and not someone that could
really give us feedback on this issue, like maybe someone on Bioware’s DA:O team.
I’ve read this entire topic thread, and not once has a
person from EA/Bioware commented on the 1.03 patch issue. I read other
game developers forums, and usually at lest once, a person from the game team
will post and at lest let us know that they are “working on it”
This is not a put down to you. It’s simply not your job IMHO
to comment on this issue (relating your personal problems with the game) unless
you can actually say something that matters. I’m reading this forum for
answers, and so far there has been nothing coming from Bioware, which to me is
really telling. A comment from a team member goes a long way in calming people
down and a lest lets them know that they care enough to read their own forum.
I also want to remind you that for all the people that are
posting here, there is most likely thousands or more owners of this game that
are now left with a broken game and have no clue as to what to do, or where to
read, comment about it. I mean how can you miss the ad for the 1.03 patch that
comes up every time a person loads the game? The only reason I didn’t blindly
install the patch is because patching has become a major problem with just
about every PC game I’ve bought in the last year or so. “Dirt 2” and “Borderlands”
are prime examples of patches that have caused more problems then they solve. So
before I installed the patch I came here to read about it.
The question now is unless Bioware fixes this patch, and
fast, how is “Awakening” going to run? And from what I’ve read we have to have
1.03 installed to play the expansion. This my friends is a classic case of “Catch
22”

Crashing with depressing frequency since the patch. Haven't messed with pick pocketing, level-up or character creation.

The pickpocketing bug is annoying as hell :/ I wanted to have a good save to import it to awakening but it seems I won't be able in time, no way I'm going to play loosing half my loot ( or even more ), not even talking about plot items of some quests I won't be able to complete
Plot items can still be stolen normally. It is the random loot table thingy that seems to be broken.
Both pickpocket and Dog don't add non-special loot to your inventory.
So dog can get you pantaloons, but no quartz. You can steal ser Nancine's (sp?) sword, but no healing poulstice.
Unless you are a Steam user, you can uninstall and go back to a previous patch. Awakening isn't worth playing before they have confirmed that the bugs are fixed anyway (imho)

CBA to uninstall and reinstall all the DLC's and moving all the saves and so. Got more games to play while I wait. The only problem is.... how long will it take? it doesn't seem they care much about this :S
I don't know, but maybe installing Awakening if it's overwriting the files ( I suppose it will do, if not I doesn't see the point of upgrading some file data in the 1.03 ) of DAO it could probably fix some bugs

In addition frame rates drops during looting and combat to 5-10, making even turning around a nightmare.
Athlon 4000+
2GB DDR2
HD 4850
My sister plays on different config yet she experiences exactly the same problems:
Intel dual core 2.7ghz
2GB DDR2
HD 4770
Will this ever be fixed? There in an expansion planned to hit stores in few days yet something that is around for many many months hasn't been fully fixed.
Do people in Bioware actually test the game on different PC configs? because to me it seems that there's a handful of specs that can run game 'ok' rest of them have to deal with countless of error and bugs that aren't being fixed.
Nice to see that since the release a bug where you can't unbind camera movement key from Home and End was fixed.. oh wait!
It is pathetic how bioware deals with their paying customers.

My loading times are much better, only crashed twice in about 20 hours of playing time. Game lags horrifically over time and during big battles, and sometimes randomly. This was a problem present even before patch 1.03, but now its even worse. More often than not the character just stall, not following their tactics, and I haven't noticed this before the patch. Pickpocket is broken, naturally.

Yes,s ince it's my job as moderator to try to ensure there aren't multiple threads about the same subject.
If the answer to these questions are yes, then why are you,

As Melkathi said: I'ma gamer like the rest of you. My game ahs been affected by this patch as well. Why should I not post about my issues too? I'm not trying to address your problems, unless I see something that I think is not related to the patch and can possibly steer that person towards a solution.
As for BioWare/EA responding in the thread, I agree. I've even tossed a PM to one of the BioWare devs pointing them to this thread. With that in mind, I figure the more people I can steer in here that are having issues, and the more info each person can provide, the higher the likelihood that BioWare can figure out what's going on and find a fix faster.
This is not a put down to you. It’s simply not your job IMHO
to comment on this issue (relating your personal problems with the game) unless
you can actually say something that matters.
As I noted before, since I'm a gamer also and am experiencing issues with this patch, why should I not report it just as anyone else does?
I’m reading this forum for
answers, and so far there has been nothing coming from Bioware, which to me is
really telling. A comment from a team member goes a long way in calming people

I completely agree. As an aside, if you're looking for def comments, it's easy to tell when there is one without cruising through the entire thread. When a dev posts in a thread the BioWare logo will appear under the thread title in the forum. If you want to read just the dev posts in that thread, then click on the logo and it will bring up only the dev posts.
I also want to remind you that for all the people that are
posting here, there is most likely thousands or more owners of this game that
are now left with a broken game and have no clue as to what to do, or where to

You don't need to remind me of that. I'm well aware of it. Which is one of the reasons I'm trying to steer anyone with issues into this thread. Keeping the reports in one thread is better than having them scattered all around the forums, and will have all the info in one place when the devs take a look at it.
The question now is unless Bioware fixes this patch, and
fast, how is “Awakening” going to run? And from what I’ve read we have to have
1.03 installed to play the expansion. This my friends is a classic case of “Catch

No argument here. I wonder the same thing.

I haven't posted my specs because there's no need to. The crashing is horrendous after installing the new patch and is not when I roll back, it's as simple as that. The 1.02a patch has some issues that were corrected by 1.03 and still crashes the game on ocassion (can't be sure if this is code or driver related) but not on the scale of 1.03.

I have never been more pleased to be a DA console player
I think it is hilarious that after four months of time, there have been *no* bug fixes of any kind in a released patch.
It seems 1.03 was simply preparing people for further economic exploitation and giving some more advertising to Awakening than actually... er... patching anything.
And it has introduced a lovely and prevalent crashing bug!
classic...
And most of their teams are still working on further things to sell you... who cares about bugs?
The best part is hearing about the bugs players are running into in Awakening.
What the heck happened to Biowares QA department?

I have just started a Fundamentals of Programming class at nights to see what I can learn...
Today’s lecture had one particular slide that made me giggle and think of BioWare. Maybe THEY need to go back to school and learn the Fundamentals of Programming before they release more buggy patches!!!!
Here is the slide:
Debugging, Testing and Validating
-Ensure that the code performs as it is supposed to
-Good selection of test data
-Test every part of the program
-Agile methodology sorts out test cases before the development even starts.
