I haven't played RtO since installing the patch. I'll see if I can get a run through it tonight and I'll report back in this thread. Going to be 12 or more hours from now though.

I'm up through to the Tower with my warrior atm and haven't had any hang up issues (completely since the patch). Just a couple in-combat crashes when I open the inventory, which is nothing new.

After loading the 1.03 patch my DLC return to ostegar has become buggy now. My entropy spells, last line has double glitch now. I had to uncheck all mods so that they work correctly and found that my DLC is now buggy.

So maybe the mods are not helping the issue...?

I just wanted to post something, I encountered the mana/stamina bar problem the other day, it was because I had restored my computer to an earlier date. Then I got a BSOD. Blue screen of death. It dawned on me that I had accidentally uninstalled latest Nvidia driver, and instead the old one was in place.

So I redownloaded the latest version of the Nvidia driver..and the mana/stamina problem went away.

I don't know if that is helpful at all, but thought I should post it.

Obviously not.
I would be surprised if any patch for any software did that.

So, does Awakening have its own patch? Does it do anything more to the main campaign? Does anyone know?

I'm installing now, it applies the 1.03 patch in the installer. I was crashing before and I expect to crash afterwards so I'm not a good test subject here.

*Edit*

Yep still crashes. Now all I pretty much have is a 100 dollar pile of plastic with some cool drawings of dragons on them.

Sigh.

I am almost sure that in-fight crashes are much more likely to occur the more you move your teammates away from each other. At least this is true in my case.

Same here.  Problem with pick pocket and stats.

Also, the loading time is very long now.  And I get one game crash at least a day.  If not multiple times.  I didn't have this problem before.  Not a single game crash.

This is very upsetting.  Whatever BioWare is trying to fix, it is better to be worth it.

The same thing has happened to EVERY company that EA has absorbed.  And you can go all the way back to ORIGIN (The producers of the Ultima Series and Wing Commander Series).

EA's philosophy is that if you can't beat them, buy them out and destroy them from the inside..

To be fair, that was right after they made C&C Renegade.

Ok .... So I've read 2 pages of this thread, and mostly everyone seems to be agreeing that the new patch is causing horrendous crashes, among other things (the crashes are what concern me, as that's what's happening in my game) .... So, solution wise ... Is there any way to UNINSTALL the latest patch?, go back to the last patch, which seems to have had fewer errors

(I didn't have any patch prior to this newest one, but I just got some DLC and it wanted me to patch, so there we go)

If anyone can let me know if this is possible and how it is possible, I'd be really grateful.

I couldn't read through all the posts but right now I'm playing Dragon Age with the 1.03 patch and the Awakening expansion and I haven't seen any of the problems mentioned in the first three pages... yet. I'm playing a non-Steam version in Windowed mode on Vista running on a Pentium T3200 (2.0 GHz), GeForce 9300M GS, and 3 GB RAM; I have all the DLCs except for Return to Ostagar.

1) Pickpocketing works fine (emptied my inventory and went to town pickpocketing everyone in Denerim, got plenty of items).
2) Loading times are much improved.
3) Level up screen has changed (attributes are on the right, below the portrait, and expanded Specialization menu on the right) but the resolution and font looks fine.
4) Cursor did not disappear.
5) Stamina/Mana bars did not disappear.
6) DLC items did not disappear, however they do not get imported into Awakening. I am full of woe and lamentations over this but that's a completely seperate issue.
7) I have not experienced any crashing after saving, combat, or area loading yet, but I've only been playing for three hours so that may or may not change.
8) Weapon damage from equipping/unequipping and swapping weapons is updating properly.

I'll note that I played for a little with just the 1.03 patch (was waiting for the shop to call and tell me my copy was in and relearning all the controls) and wasn't paying particular attention for problems but I did pickpocket the tiara off the noblewoman in Denerim - that seems to suggest I didn't have any problems with the patch to begin with, so there's no guarantee installing Awakening will resolve any problems.

Good luck with resolving your patch issues, folks, it may not be a perfect patch but it isn't a completely broken one either.

Edit:
Either I was on crack and hallucinated the results or I subconsciously looted chests in a fit of obsessive-compulsive kleptomania, but apparently pickpocketing random items is broken for me too. Sorry about that.

Well, someone has the Golden Computer of the Gods. :P

Are you running with any mods? Your case could help find out what is wrong with this. Kind of like disease control, you know, find out what you have or don't have that makes you immune.

I have a few miscellaneous mods: Chantry Boots, The Winter Forge (not the latest version, whatever that may be), Console - Add Points (purely for experimentation reason! Honest!), Innodil's Pocket Plane, Bag of Holding, and Of Noble Cast - all of which can be disabled in the Downloadable Content menu.

Just curious how long is "a little". The game runs like a dream for me in the first 2 hours, but then it turns to crap.

How does the character creation screen look? I can't see my character during creation.

Probably no more than an hour, like I said I wasn't looking for any bugs at the time (didn't even know about the complaints at the time) so all I can say is that before installing Awakening I was able to do some pickpocketing in Denerim; that could just mean the only reason I 'm not seeing any problems in Awakening now is simply because I lucked out and have a system that's similar enough to one of the dev's test platforms rather than any corrective measure the expansion may have had.

Pandaman: thanks for posting.

One thing I'll point out is the tiara you mentioned pick pocketing is a plot/placed item. Not a random item. It's the random item stealing that's broken in the patch. However, perhaps pick pocketing works in Awakening or works once you install Awakening. I'll be testing this if I can pick up a copy today.

Again, thanks for the info.

Character creation screen for the original campaign looks exactly like before, no errors from what I can tell, the Awakening creation screen looks like this:

Hm, I'm probably mistaken then. I'll give the old five-finger discount another whirl to verify.

Edit: Yep, I was mistaken, the rest of my observations still appear to hold though, it's been five hours since I fired up the game and I've been frequently tabbing between the browser and game constantly since and it has held up pretty well.

I had to check with the Dev team to make sure, hence the delay.

Yes, if you play Dragon Age: Origins Awakenings out of the box, you will get the patch automatically.

If you get patch 1.03 you automatically get all previous patch material included, so you do not need to get Patch 1.01, then 1.01a, then 1.02, etc. Getting Patch 1.03 will update you fully.

I picked up the expansion this morning..... I have not downloaded the patch soooo from what I see here that the patch is included in the software as apart of the expansion game...... I guess I don't have to download the patch then just install from the disk.
