Furthermore the level up screen is WAY out off scale, as if it is using another resolution

As far as I know, this is an intended change.  The expansion pack makes some alterations to the game, and the patch includes many of those changes.  Some of them are invisible (like application code), and some of them much more obvious.

Well I guess all of use are not suprised that this patch didnt fix the load times. And I take it that most of us wont be getting the expansion next week as well. I know I wont.

AMEN to that!

I've been stuck at the Landsmeet since a week after game came out. After fight the cutscenes slow to a crawl until Lockup. Installed game on 2 different systems and same problem both times. I will not buy another BioWare product until they fix ALL the bugs in game, not just mine.

Prior to 1.03, DA was running fine. Sure, load times were a little long, but now it crashes to the desktop randomly. Well, not entirely randomly. It seems to like to crash during large fights, usually when I'm midway through them. It's crashed at the bridge fight in the Dead Trenches involving the ogre and archers and at the assembly fight against Bhelen. Maybe it has something to do with lots of npcs? The golem fight at the Anvil of the Void went fine though...

In short, please patch the patch soon.

The load times have actually improved for me quite a bit, and no crashes yet... But now I'm having lag issues periodically in certain areas (frames seem to skip); they seem to clear up if I leave the area or simply restart the game...

I've noticed some issue with the character portrait generation since 1.03. The pictures that should be uploaded to the social site are often totally black. I've also lost the portraits of 2 of my characters and I haven't played with them since 1.03.

Loading times perfect now; nearly instant. But pickpocketing bug is a problem-I need another garnet and I think a Commander in Orzammar has one on him..

Having some problems just to do simple zoning in the game. Reminds me of Everquest, when players zoned in a different section and crashed to desktop with 1800 error. The patch did fix the load times for me but made other things worse. Like my loot in Soldiers Peak is gone, becoming more of a memory hog. task manager reports 900 megs of memory used rather than the 400 before the patch. Anyhow I already preordered the Awakening expansion and hope to God that won't create more problems when I install it..

I hardly ever use the pickpocket skill anyway, even though I've got a reasonably high level on it. Have pre-ordered Awakening and very much looking forward to it. And I've installed the patch - not found anything - Yet, but if I do, then I do.

It's unlikely it will ruin my day...

After having the patch installed via steam my character level up tab across all my saves is reversed (ie. stats now on the left, below the portrait and specializations on the right). I didn't see anything in the notes about it so not sure if it's intended.

Also Virulent Walking Bomb now has a blank tooltip.

Curiously there was at least one time prior to this patch that I did use the pickpocket skill but got nothing in inventory even though it said I had, thing is because it doesn't tell you what you have got from the pocket it's difficult to say, sometimes.
Mind you - you have just made me think about how to conclude some of my sidequests - I was wondering where to get the extra bits from.

Load times are much improved for me but I'm getting crashes when I NEVER had crashes before. DA:O was running smooth as silk yesterday. Downloaded the patch this morning and now I get crashes randomly in battle. Never had this problem before. It must be linked to the patch.

Often you get miscellaneous stackable items, like health potions, so it isn't always immediately obvious what you pickpocketed.  But the stack does get 'highlighted', so assuming all other items have been moused over, newly pickpocketed items will stand out.

In this patch the NPCs with items don't give you the 'items received' message any longer (SPOILER - unless you pickpocket a plot item, like the letter in Redcliffe from the spy in the tavern), even though it says pickpocketing was a success.  And, in fact, you don't get anything from these NPCs.  You still can randomly get some cash, but NPCs can have some nice loot on them, so if you use pickpocketing this patch impacts your game significantly.

I'm also having problems with items disappearing. It seems like all items related to DLC is gone from my save. This includes all the items I've bought from Levi Dryden and Mikhael. I've also lost Starfang. I assume that's because it was made by Mikhael.

I can't talk to Shale anymore else the game crashes.

I so regret downloading this patch, since it has left my characters half naked and without a number of very potent weapons, and thus the game is impossible to play.

Ah right yes I see, cheers for that.

(ver 1.03)

I've started to get crashes as well now - it looks like we can never win here.

Pickpocket is busted, I do sometimes get cash but it quite often it states 'Stealing Success' with no items or money added and I checked carefully.

The other problem we've all got now is that Awakening is right on our doorstep and alot of focus is going to be diverted to fixing the problems with that, which may mean that we don't see any more fixes for this.

I know thats a little paranoid but I've seen EA at work many, many times before - and its a case of 'yes we know there are problems and.. HEY LOOK a new shiny thing, buy this - and forget about your old problems!'.

It seems this is now it is these days.

Guys and Gals PLEASE do not buy the expansions for this game.

If you do, you are only encouraging them to release buggy software that is not fit for release.

It's around half a year after release and they have chosen to release a patch that addresses the expansion and not the glaring errors with the original game. $$$$$ it seems is all that counts. (in some cases the patch made it worse).

Show EA you won't stand for this very poor customer service and treatment.

Many people STILL can't play the game properly, even now, and Bioware/EA have chosen to go after more of your money, rather than fix the game to how it should have been on release day.

Vote with your wallet, or this type of customer treatment will become the norm.

I fully agree with that. Until some basic problems like the multicore usage is officially fixed, i won't be buying any addons or DLC. The work arounds you find in the forums here are just that, work arounds. They don't actually fix the problems. I've purchased more games form Bioware than any other developer. KOTOR series, jade empire, etc....This patch is only addressing one of the many problems found. This is really getting sad. EA took at great company and turned into poop.

1.03 hasn't changed anything for me, good or bad.

Game crashed when I tried to use Alistair's "Cleanse Area", just as the effect was supposed to happen. Never happened patch.

Edit: I just verified the DA:O files in Steam and 1 file needed to be downloaded again. Played again and it seems to work. Looks like the patch may have altered something. I would suggest others with Steam versions of DA:O verify their files too.
