Having a serious problem with lag during conversations since 1.03 which got so bad during the first time u enter the tavern in Lothering where u recruit Leliana that by the time u talk to her after defeating Loghain's men even if u manage to get through the extreme lag in the conversation and get to the party selection screen after u select the party and accept it just gets stuck on a black screen.

Now I've eliminated everything from mods to external programs and system performance and I have never had this problem with DA:O before so it literally only leaves patch 1.03.

If needed system specs are,
OS: Windows Vista Home Premium 64bit
CPU:  Intel Quad Core Q9300 - Overclocked to 3GHz
RAM:  4Gb DDR3-1333MHz (Soon to be 8Gb DDR3-1600MHz)
MOBO:  ASUS Rampage Extreme - FSB Overclocked to 1600MHz
GPU:  nVidia GTX 260 Core 216 - Overclocked to  Core: 702MHz, Shader: 1440MHz, Memory: 1188MHz
Case:  Cooler Master HAF-932
Other:  CPU and Northbridge are liquid cooled

2: the 2 special blood powers you get from avernous above them it says class NAME NOT FOUND and you highlight them and it doesnt say anything about them so they proly wont work right not sure.
... just tested dont work goes threw the actions no BLOOD graphics at all then nothing.

also want to add that all my items didnt import my 2 weapons i had wielded in original i only got topsiders honor
lost my belt and necklace tons of my inventory as well sux am i suppose to lose everything?

i have unchecked all the ONLINE check boxes and unchecked AUTOSAVE been playing for 4 hours no crash yet .. from the crash every 15 minutes or so.

Autosave, huh? Interesting. If memory serves I had autosave on but everything else related to online automatic uploads switched off. Anyone feel like being a guinea pig and trying 1.03 with this?

Yes, I was actually trying out cutting out individual settings (a slow process, to be certain) and was running very well with these settings off. From what I've been able to work out, so far, is that with the Autosave is a major factor in the crash problem... what is strange about it is that the crashes occur with a frequency far higher than the visible autosave notifications at critical plot points. AND, with autosave turned on; I can do a zone shift or two and pop open my inventory and force a crash 9/10 times. If I turn off autosave, I can zone back and force, hitting inventory multiple times and not crash at all.

The Online check boxes may help with the accumulating slow down issue... but I can't back this up definitively yet. I do know at least one other person has reported that with all five of these options toggled off, he has had a long period of play with no crashes; as have I. I will continue testing as time allows.

Thia one isn't related to patch 1.03. It's actually a bug that existed from the original release of the game.

This is definitely related to 1.03/Awakening.

also want to add that all my items didnt import my 2 weapons i had wielded in original i only got topsiders honor

This is intentional if they're DLC items. Other than the items you get in RtO, none of the DLC items are supposed to port into Awakening.

Hi, I am still pondering if I shall get Awakening due to the reported crashes and DLC items not able to be ported over.  May I know what is the rationale of not allowing items from DLC (that we have purchased) to be ported over?  Sure it does sound unreasonable.  How can you even explain the lore?  That these fine quality items just disintegrated once crossed over to another zone?

The devs thought we wouldn't care, and didn't feel like expending the resources to code the DLC stuff for Awakenings.

yes that was my other weapon STARFANG!!!!!!!!!! i lost it noooooooooooo  Guys we should be able to import any dam item that they are in possession of (i.e. anyting on npc's and personal stash) from DA:ORIGINS. Also i was expecting it to change the spells/skills/specializations available to the original campaing as well!!! if i didnt buy it from steam i would take it back to the store. if downloadable content is gonna be treated this way please do away with it and just make an expansion pack out of it and make everything compatible.

I was worried about what would happen to my DLC content. I can't belive I can't carry over

Items that I have PAYED for. I could understand if I got all
this stuff for free, but I paid (what I consider a lot ) for the DLC I bought.

The only DLC I got for free was the Dragon Armor (Never used
it) and Shale and her quest. So I bet with is expiation we are supposed to buy “new”
DLC that will replace the DLC we lost? Wow what a scam. This whole situation is
making me really rethink buying EA games. Problem is they own such a huge
amount of game companies now,  it would
be really hard to NOT buy an EA game.

Guys, can we keep this thread to bug reports, please?

I'll point out that I'm not a BioWare or EA employee so I don't have any idea why this decision with regards to DLC items was made, but if you take a look in the Awakening forum there's a ton of threads about it, so you can discuss it there. However, there's a mod that's supposed to work that will allow you to carry the items over Here and one Here.

OK so the crashing is not fixed. The crashes happen after a while maybe an hour or so and I might just be walking through town or the forest. So my character when imported to awakenings will be necked and unarmed woo hoo. This is a great expansion NOT. Was looking forward to awakenings but not sure if it is worth it.

Specs

windows 7 64 bit

intel i7 quad core 3.2GHz

12 GB RAM

2 NVIDIA GeForce GTX 295 video cards

NVIDIA GTS 250 physics card

no over clocking all drivers up to date

no cheats or cracks

When is Bioware or EA going to get off of their asses and fix this ****. Enough is enough! What the hell are they waiting for a goddamn lawsuit? Do they want to be regulated by the Federal Government? That can be arranged!

I'm as frustrated as everyone else with this. However threats like this don't help (other than to release stress for the poster).  The mods have posted that even if Bioware isn't making posts that they are monitoring the forums and they are aware of the bugs. I'm sure they are working on a fix.

The problem is that these bugs aren't effecting everybody.  I have four friends who also have this game, none of which have had any crashes or DLC bugs with this patch, as opposed to myself who has been hit hard by these 'old' bugs that can't be fixed using the workarounds on these forums.  Now Bioware/EA have to work out what is causing the problems, resolve them, whilst attempting to ensure that those who aren't having any problems don't have their games messed up.  These things take time.

I thought I'd weigh in on this crashing issue, I too went through dragon age almost completely crash free (just two or three crashes) prior to the patch. Post 1.03 however, I crash every five minutes.

My system specs are as follows:

Windows Vista 64 bit
Intel core i7 920 @2.67 ghz
6 GB ram
2 x Nvidia GTX 295s

No overclocking, no mods and no cheats.

Now, I usually run the game at 1920 x 1080 with maximum graphics detail, AA all the way on and pretty much everything set to max. This was fine before the patch, after the patch however I've found a way to play for about 45 minutes to an hour without a crash:

1. turn off anti aliasing
2. turn down your graphics settings (I went down from very high to just high)
3. turn off autosave
4. turn off all the online options

These seem to work pretty well at extending playtime before a crash occurs.

I've tried a bunch of other things that were mentioned here too:

Someone mentioned installing the game fresh and patching right away as opposed to incrementally patching and that solved his crashing issue. I had never patched my game prior to 1.03 so I did that anyway and I still have that issue. (I only patched because I bought return to ostagar and it required I patch).

Someone else mentioned creating a new character after the patch and not using an old one, well I thought I'd create a new character and play through and then take that character onto awakenings so I did that anyway too, and that didn't seem to work.

Now what I did notice is that if I'm playing with all those four options off, I can force the game to crash by enabling them and walking around for a few minutes, or failing that simply by initiating a conversation.

As a side note, I mention awakenings, but I haven't bought it yet, and don't plan to until a patch is released fixing this crashing issue. While playing for 45 minutes to an hour at a time is pretty good compared to five minutes it is still immensely frustrating to keep crashing particularly with autosave off since I'm not so good at remembering to save all the time.

If these crashes are happening to one person or twenty people that's too many: and, the game should be fixed. I have well over $120 invested in this game and the damn thing better work consistently each and every time.

Actually Bioware made this game with the help of EA.  EA is more of a way for them to jumstart the selling of the game.

Um the thing i dont get is why did they do this they are still essentually using DAo's base code since awakening is an expantion

I decided to try out my DAO copy after installing DAA and discovering that the right click doesn't work. So I put the DAO DVD in the drive and launched the programme. It can't see the DVD and is dying on me! Windows 7 can see the disk fine. WTFO, Bioware?

If you've installed Awakening, that now becomes your play disc, not the original one.

Remarkable Amethyst from dusttown bug still exists. You still need to sell all amethysts otherwise they'll bug/disappear.

That resolved that problem.

There's another--DLC doesn't seem to import into Awakening. Since I didn't keep track of what came from DLC and what didn't, things got very confusing.

No, DLC does not import into Awakening (except the Return to Ostagar items). That's as designed.

Noticed a definite increase in lag and poor framerates since applying this patch. Hasn't crashed my game though; at worst it slows to a snail's pace before speeding up again when I move to a new area (though it doesn't seem to run smoothly from there-on).

I need the patch for the loading fix, so I can deal with the lag for now.

Can't be bothered listing specs, but suffice to say I'm over the recommended specs and use Windows 7 64 bit. I use a few minor mods (e.g. gift guide/Leliana with new hairstyle etc... ) but they never bothered the game in the past, so I'm not going to look at them as the cause of the lag.
