I'm getting crashes, too, in Return to Ostagar. Right clicks are often ignored.

No, DLC does not import into Awakening (except the Return to Ostagar items). That's as designed.

WAD!

I haven't seen that response since I worked on air traffic control systems.

Pickpocketing has been isolated. The problem is in "sys_treasure_h" lines 488-490. When commented out and the stealing script recompiled, this now works. Tested in dwarf commoner origin- got money a few times and several items. I've posted the scripts on projects: social.bioware.com/project/2335/

Just tried this and it works!!

Thanks!!!!!!!!!

Mana Clash 4/5 times. Sometimes Mass Paralysis causes the crash too.

Have you noticed what's going on when that happens? Is an enemy casting a spell? Is it instant like winter's grasp or does in need to charge like inferno?

Sometimes the crashes occur during the fights with mob packs that indeed contain a mage, haven't checked what spells they're using howerever. Then again the crashes sometimes happen when I fight only melee mobs  (i.e. Thugs during one of the Chanter's Board quests in Amaranthine). And to answer your last question, both Mana Clash and Mass Paralysis have a casting time (not instant like Winter Grasp).

PS. I cannot fully express how gratefull I am for your stealing fix, Surango! Bet, I'm not the only one :)

I'm assuming this is the "official" 1.03 patch bug report forum.. I'm not sure if anyone else has had this problem, but since I installed the patch, when I get to the "mirror battle" (as i call it) in the Urn of Sacred Ashes quest (well within The Gauntlet area), the people I'm fighting don't have images. The red circles are on the ground where they are, so I was still able to locate them and finish the fight, but they weren't actually visible. I'm quite sure I could see them on my first go around lol.

My DLC: RtO, Stone Prisoner, Blood Dragon Armor, The Lucky Stone, Embri's Many Pockets, Mark of Vigilance, The Lion's Paw, The Wicked Oath, Helm of the Deep, and Amulet of the War Mage.

Mods: Fragments of Ferelden, A Kiss To Remember, Sex Movies Always Play (and Natural Bodies "All in One" pack [lol]), Enigma Battle Dungeon, Kal-Sharok~The Crumbling City, Little Red Riding Hood Redux, Monster Mash, Monty Python Black Knight Armor, and the Storage Chest.

Note: All these mods and DLC worked fine before and after installing the patch.

EDIT: Forgot about the Extra Dog Slot mod :)

@joey

I've seen this before 1.03. They're kind of a vague outline on most of my play throughs on medium graphics. You can kind of see them if you cast winter's grasp or CoC, but that's it unless you really squint.

Crashing to desktop, transferring from one zone to another now takes alot longer than 1.02a. If there is a way to remove 1.03 please do tell. Uninstalling and reinstalling will be a nightmare!

Its amazing however, when lead producers go onto IGN and say that DLC content will only be delivered when the quality has been assured (http://uk.pc.ign.com.../1058656p3.html) and has gone through testing at the most professional level only to have this patch completley ruin my excitment over the upcoming expansion.

Not a happy customer.

Yeah, now I crash every 30 seconds, all I want to do is play....I paid my money for frustration, wasted time and half cooked product, a far cry from the quality of DAO. I wonder how much they value customers they must have known that the patch was a proper crap before they released it, were they pushed by greed?? Image IPB

Seems the 1.03 patch is generally unstable, DA:O crashed randomly while my bro was playing (seperate computer), never crashed before the 1.03 patch. I think he was playing a rogue at the time.
And for me it crashed randomly while fighting the tentacles in DA:A ran stable before that up to that point. I just kept retrying until I had a game where it didn't crash during the fight. Haven't tried a new game or resumed a old save in regular DA:O with 1.03 yet.

Also I had the same issue that Vita Nex had, i.e I couldn't install the 1.03 patch so I reinstalled the game and tried patching afterwards and it worked. Could it have been one of the previous patches causing it to not be detected properly?

And what about Toolset and the 1.03 patch (or Awakening). Is it related? I never had any problem with infamous (and quite common) error - unable to connect to database but now I can't get the toolset to run. I tried lots of solutions from here but nothing works for me.

Does anybody have the same problem?

Try exploring the Awakenings disc, Hututa. Some toolsets have a version of the .NET framework that they have to have to run. Not sure if DA's is the same but it's worth a shot. No idea what it'd be called though, just have to hunt.

I've had 2 crashes since I installed patch 1.03. Both occurred during combat. Is there anyway to rollback to a previous patch?

I lost Return to Ostagar because of this patch. Did anyone else have this problem and/or does anyone know how to fix it?

To the folks having visual crash problems (combat/magic):

Try the DX9 end user runtimes solution suggested on page 22 of this thread.

Ever since the expansion / 1.03 patch I have had massive crashing. Currently I have crashed about 6 times straight on the last boss in the Fade, Mage Tower. I once got out and foolishly did not quick save and crashed when I accessed a chest back in the Tower. i am sporting a mean sadface right now

I understand the frustrations, I have posted a few times in a few different threads, have talked to EA, who have recommended everything from deleting my saves and starting over, to uninstalling windows 7 and getting windows vista. I have been told to run in compatibility mode, and most recently escalated to EA's "Tier 3" technical support, in which I am awaiting a response. It is nice because they seem apologetic and have given me a few freebies (IE a coupon for the EA store and a small promo DLC code for the game *which is nice if the game ever starts working again*), but I am still rather frustrated with the issues, and haven't really tried to get it to work today. I still am getting ready to uninstall the game and reinstall using the 1.02a patch, and hopefully will be able to play until the new patch is released (if there is one in the pipelines.)

Maybe someone already posted this, but I don't have the patience to read 23 pages of text.

Certain cutscenes repeat themselves. An example of this was when I was in the fade rescuing Wynne. After I defeated all the monsters the dialogue restarted as if it were before the fight. This also happens within the expansion pack.

Another problem is that in Warden's Keep, I cannot open the door to get to the demon possessed Dryden on the 2nd floor because the door will not unlock. All dialogue with Levi has been activated and still nothing. It never happened with the old patches.

I couldn't for the life of me figure out why all of my DLC suddenly shows up as "unauthorized", and I was crashing all the time. Then I realized that Steam pushes patches automatically.

All of my trouble started after the patch. Since then, all of my paid DLC, which shows up on my account, is listed as unauthorized, and you can't load games with unauthorized DLC. I've followed the directions in this forum for doing all the steps to fix the problem, but since all of those were written before this patch, I don't know how useful they are.

I know they haven't fixed my problem. I'm afraid to buy the expansion, for fear that whatever is keeping my DLC from working, will also keep the expansion from working.

I would rather roll back to a previous patch, and play my existing paid-for content, than to have all of my previously paid content made "unauthorized" by a patch designed to make me compatible with new premium content.

In order to play awakening you have to be on the 1.03 patch anyway. If you have the crashing bug that most of us who have posted here have, I wouldn't bother buying awakening anyway since it's unlikely you'll enjoy it very much until after a patch is released.

Getting Windows Vista?  I am using Vista and the 1.03 patch is crashing on me.  I have asked my friends to use the 1.02a.  The thing is, with such a patch, for the unlucky bunch of us, there is no chance for us to play Awakening, is there?

What is EA going to do for the rest of us who are having problems. I sent EA a tech support problem some time ago on another game and it took them six weeks to respond. Those SOB's aought to be sued in a court of law for false advertising and knowingly selling faulty merchadise on the Internet. They are no better than the scammers out there. They cannot be allowed to get away with this crap.

From the looks of things from here and other threads, it seems digital customers are having even more problems than brick and mortar customers. That's telling me something in the download is corrupting. I have a disc copy, so I can't say for sure what's going on there. Just an observation.

From now on when posting bugs, please state whether you use a digital copy and who it's through or if you have the game on disc. That might help BW figure some other things out.

Well, to address a few posts, I am not sure what the deal is. I still feel, judging by other games with crashing problems that this is a memory leak caused by a rushed, untested patch, but I have talked to four reps at EA (2 via live chat, 2 via phone), each gave me a completely different answer, and none would say anything about the patch being the problem, and acted like I was the only person with an issue. I mean, granted I got a free in game item for a game I can't play, and a $15 coupon for any game on EA's store, it still isn't that reassuring. As far as going back to 1.02a, you won't be able to play DA: Awakening, as it needs 1.03 to run. Also, the last guy I talked to at EA Tech, stated that it could very well be the 64 bit version acting up, as the game isn't listed as compatible for the 64 bit version of any Windows system. He was the one that escalated me to "Tier 3". While I know they aren't yet saying what the cause is, and are treating it as isolated incidents, I would recommend to those who have just Origins, to try to play with 1.02a (if it runs stable for you), and for those who have both DA: Origins and Awakening, well, do what ever you want, I mean if you want Origins, go with the older patch, and if you want Awakening, go with the newer one.

As far as discussing potential lawsuits, Jallard, I would recommend contacting EA, to see what they want to do to try to make it right by you before hopping on board the "Let's Sue Somebody" train. I mean, this sucks, don't get me wrong, but suing isn't quite on my mind right yet, and if it was, I doubt I would take my cause to the forums of the developers that made the game. BioWare has made some stellar games in the past, and while I am a bit pissed that I can't play my game, I do have some sort of faith that it will get worked out in the end. If it isn't handled shortly, I will contact EA again with a request for my money back (as they are the publisher and are handling tech support).

And to Surango, I am running Dragon Age: Origins, with the 1.03 patch. It is a retail box that I picked up at WalMart. I am running:Windows 7 Home 64bit, with an AMD Athlon II X3 435 Rana (2.9GHz), 4 GB of DDR3 1600, and an XFX Radeon HD 5770 1GB card. I have crashes to the desktop that present at the Ostagar Top Level boss battle at the beginning of the game, and after that crashes anywhere from 5 minutes of gameplay to 2-3 hrs, depending on how much the game likes me at the given moment. It crashes iwith a nice window stating that DA has stopped responding and microsoft is looking for a solution *which it doesn't find, obviously*. It tends to do this more so in battles than anywhere else, but has happened at other times such as right after a cut scene or while panning the camera.

I'm sure this has been reported already, but I'll post it anyways.

When starting a new game, the character does not appear during the character creation step. All sub-options such as the preset are blank.

If I rollback to the 1.02a patch, I won't have any problems with the saves I created using the 1.03 patch will I?
