Much more eloquently put, 8DK. I guess I'm just fed up with all the yipping.
You may be fed up with all the yipping, but I paid good money to play this game free of bugs and ****. So, I will yipe until someone from either BioWare or EA comes to this forum and acknowleges that they are indeed diligently working on a fix. However, that will probably be a cold day in hell.

It strikes me that BW may be so in bed with EA and they have no choice. BTW, I'm wondering now regardless of how Awakening fares, what DA2 on will be like? They will be stand-alone but will they tie into all the original characters we've spent so much time and depth and story with? Will it be like writing "The Lord of The Rings" in three volumes but have different characters in each that little mention is ever made of?
Is it safe to say that most of you would have been happier with Awakening if BW had stuck to all the Origin characters?

Jallard is correct though. He has a right to be angry.
You may belittle his opinion that he had to pay good money for the game and is now angry that he has a defective product like the rest of us.
But really, whats the angle of that opinion?
Your a real man and don't cry?
Your sitting on a pile of cash, and thus, it doesn't concern you?
Or your part of the growing, younger generation that just bends over and takes whatever is spooned out, and says nothing of injustice for fear of being labeled a 'cry baby'.
No wonder the worlds going down the gurgler.
Without accountability, and more importantly, Pride in your work, this is what you get.
A total mess.

If you want to roll back to 1.02a check the project under discussions. Just make sure you understand if you reinstall DA:A this will be useless.

Will,
You're right he has a right to be angry, but having made his point, going on and on about it over and over again gets a tad tedious. It wasn't his opinion or his right to be angry that I was taking the micky out of, but rather his entitlement atttitude that got up my nose.
You make a lot of assumptions in your post, most of which are wrong. Believe or not, as I have said in an earlier post, I'm not happy about this either, and btw the bugs in this patch effect me too. However sometimes messes occur. Life's like that. Forever moaning and groaning about it like Jallad is doing doesn't achieve anything, and to be blunt is more than a tad bit irritating.
As for what's my angle, simple, my angle is this, patience. The problems with this patch are not the end of the world, there are workarounds, annoying yes, but they are there. This is not the end of the world, and forever acting like the victim and moaning and groaning about it isn't productive.
Still, I was wrong in making the post I made, and I apologise. I'm subscribed to this thread and waiting for Bioware to answer, (which I believe they will in time). Continuously receiving email updates about this thread, only to find, that once again it's just another post by Jallard saying exactly the same thing he's said in every other post annoyed me, a lot. Sorry if I offended you. In the interests of harmony I've removed the post.

Maybe some of us including Jallard are frustrated that no one from BioWare or EA has the guts to say early on that "it looks like we screwed up and we are formulating a plan of attack and will be informing everyone rsn."Raven-sb wrote...

For me it will be to late. I've decided I'm not going to hang around for Awakening to be fixed. I put so much into Origins and enjoyed it so much that I want to move on to Mass Effect 2 now--long before Awakening is fixed. I'm pretty sure from some things I've read that Awakening will be a let down/disappointment. I'm better off just waiting a year or so for DA2. Even then it will be bad because I will wish I could continue DA2 as Queen or Princess Consort with Alistair and I will always wonder how BioWare will treat that very main story line of the Gray Wardens dying when they reach around 30 years old?
Best I forget about DA:O soon and hope for the best when DA2 comes out. They could do some very thrilling main character choices.

I'm having a consistent CTD right now during the Fade Boss fight. Before transforming into his final form, the game stops working. I have all patches include the latest 1.03 patch. Any suggestions?
There's something about that particular vfx. It can also happen with mana clash and holy smite. Have you tried installing the directx runtimes previously suggested?

That being said, has anyone that's suffering crashing tried disabling the options in the Online tab of the Options menu? Some people are reporting that this drastically reduces their crash issues.
*edit* Forgot to add a couple things: along with those options, try disabling autosaves as well. Again, some users are reporting this helps.
For comparison, I don't have autosave disabled. But I do have a couple options in the Online tab unchecked. I have the following checked (i.e. they're active):
Upload Gameplay Feedback
Upload Screenshots
Upload Character Profile.
The other options I DO NOT have checked. I haven't suffered game crash issues and in fact have tried casting Mana Clash in big battles (I've used that spell a lot), and even had some programs open while playing and cannot force my game to crash. Maybe having those couple of options unchecked is helping. Worth checking out.

I too am frustrated over this patch, in a moment of irratation, I let my frustration get the better of me. Anyway I'm dropping this issue, I've apologised, removed the offending post, I'm not sure what else I can do, other than unsubscribe from this thread and stop following it, which I've now done.

People, let's keep things on track here. Please try to confine the posts to bug reporting and/or helping others with issues. I know we're all frustrated with the issues with the patch/expansion, but arguing with each other and posting about your displeasure at BioWare/EA isn't helping.
That being said, has anyone that's suffering crashing tried disabling the options in the Online tab of the Options menu? Some people are reporting that this drastically reduces their crash issues.
Haven't tried that yet. I've restarted the game with a new character, and can report that the DLC bugs I was experiancing with my old character have dissappeared. I've also installed the stealing fix and updated directx. Right now the only bugs I'm still experiancing is periodic CTD. I'm not sure if it's the game or if it's windows that's behind it the crashes though. I'll disable the online options and report back if I crash to desktop again after I've done that.

I'd really like to figure this out too so everyone please humor me. For the people experiencing crashes, what processors do you have? I've come across three people including myself who have had no crashing issues at all, and we all have Phenoms. There could be a connection there, if not, oh well, but the more information the better and maybe we can solve this ourselves if the devs wont.
Good thinking. Unfortunately for your theory, I'm on an overclocked Intel Core 2 Duo E6750.

I've disabled every option in the online tab, and had a massive fight. The result was no crash and fight won :-). I realise that the game may still crash, but if it does I'll post about it here.
Edit: I've also disabled autosaving

4gb ram
nvidia 8800 Gts 640 mb version
game installed to seperate sata 2 drive actually its the only thing on the drive
running latest nvidia drivers
sound card sb x fi xtreme audio
Just did a fresh install of windows (really needed it).
before service pack 2 and all updates got massive crash to desktops and insane video lag sometimes 3 mins into game sometimes 30 mins into game. (installed all windows updates)
Now even with 1.03 installed the ingame lagg is all but gone i do how ever get random crash to desktops still but not as frequent upwords of several hours.
The ironic part is i installed the game to my laptop which is a amd 64x2 running the same os windows vista home premium using a ati x1250 video card and the latest drivers from ati (modified drivers that work on laptops) and have experienced 0 crash to desktops and or video lag
desktop settings for game are as follows
1900x1080 max detail I dont use aa cause at that rez i dont see the the need.
latop res 1200x800 all settings medium. (if i go set to high just get video lag do to the card cannot keep up.)
Im starting to wonder if the crash to desktop has to do with processor differences or maybe something in the drivers. Or maybe a combination between the patch and the function calls of the multi threaded architecture. The reason for that theory is people setting the game to processor affinity o and only running it on one core seems to help some. But others it does nothing for. This is only a theory.
But for people that say are having the issue with similar setups i wonder if they actually have the same processor eg same processor with same core type not the newer version of the same processor with a different core type.
And for anyone that is bio where that is reading this. When i do get crash to desktop i never even get over 30 percent memory usage so i doubt its a memory leak just seems more like a invalid function call and or script error of such.

1.
There is a major crash bug with this expansion.
Sometime
the game will crash 20 minutes into playing the expansion other times
mabye
an hour into playing. Along with the normal crash bug there is also a
microsoft
visual c++ runtime library, runtime error crash code R6025,
pure virtual
function call crash which sometimes happens also. The
runtime error also always
happens when at the end of the expansion if
you try to leave the city to burn
and return to defend vigil and
when it gets to the point of preparing for
battle and you choose your
final team. When it tries to load you crash with the
runtime error
every time. I don’t know if this is just a I7 issue or a windows
7
issue or both but it is a major problem. I will have my computer specs
below
for the DEV’s if they want to look into this.
2.
There is a problem with the rune enchanment
system or at
least there seems to be. Not all runes can be applied to all
weapons
one dagger can use some of the new gems and another cannot. This
problem
also applies to staves and other weapon classes. Also armor runes can
be
applied to weapons but not to armor. Again if this was intended fine
but it
just seems flawed to me.
3.
When killing an
enemy instead of seeing a pool
of blood it just shows a red square
that flashes. This is definatley a graphics
glitsh.
4.
There
is a glitch with the elven trinket with
Velanna where you have to
give it to her a 2nd time.
I7 920 overclocked to a 3.6 Ghz,
EVGA X-58 Motherboard, Corsair
Dominator DDR3 Triple channel 12 GB, 1600,
Western Digital 640GBx2
32mb cache black edition HD run in raid 0, EVGA GTX 275
1792mb
Superclocked Editions x2 in SLI, Creative SB X-FI Pro Gamers sound card,
Antec

The way things have been going if I were to buy a copy of a Dragon Age novel I would not be suprised if after reading only a few pages the book catches on fire.

I simply cannot believe that such a inept patch could be deemed ready to launch.
Not only is my game having horrible game-breaking graphics lag and stuttering, as well as numerous crashes, it is now experiencing the "progressively longer loading screens" that the patch was supposed to fix. Minus the latter, I suffered none of these before 1.03. This is all after an entirely fresh install of the game and all it's components as well. Please communicate your current situation in regards to a reversion/hotfix as mine (and others I'm sure) patience is wearing very thin.
My specs are once again:
- Processor: AMD Phenom 9500 Quad-Core Processor 2.2GHz
- RAM: 6GB
- Videocard: NVIDIA GeForce 9800 GT, 512MB VRAM, Driver version 197.15
- OS: Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium
- DirectX 11
