After waiting nearly two weeks I finally heard from EA Tech Support with the standard reply message: "Uninstall and reinstall the game. Be care to save your saved games first. Yadda, yadda, and yadda." Now, the only problem is how can I reinstall the digital version when the setup.exe files don't save to my hard drive?!? The download manager only says play?????????
You go into Control Panel -> Programs & Features (Vista and 7; Add/Remove Programs for XP) and uninstall it through there. Then the DLM button will change from 'Play' to 'Install'.
Thanks

So though the DLC's / Awakening are a major step down from DA:O ME2 is a huge step up from ME1. So I guess all is not lost with Bioware but that still leaves me to wonder what the hell happened. I mean Bioware has had an amazing track record why now, why did he new stuff suck so much.

After patching I can't finish the Archdemon battle cuz it crashes to desktop every time. I'm so bummed. No official response on this? Dirtbag move to bork the game and stay mum about it.
I agree that it's long past time for BW to at least acknowledge the problems that 1.03 has caused for so many of us.
That said, all of us PC types (except Steam users, I guess) can roll-back to 1.02 so we can finish our (current) playthrough. Takes a little while, and requires a re-download of any official DLC, but in my case all saves and settings were retained (the "\\%user%\\bioware\\dragon age" folder was untouched.) All mods continued to work fine for me after the re-install, but then "Improved Atmosphere" is about the only technical one I run. The others are changes to story (various fixes to dialogue branches) or visuals (e.g. "du_nohat").
Don't know what more we can do to get a 1.03b, or if there's even any awareness of the need (see quote, above.)

Prize Cost Total
250,000 patchs v1.04 - 1 FailToken 250,000 Failtokens
Then we and bioware could waste our time!
I can see it now.........

I've got a problem after installing patch 1.03 with morrigan's dialogues.
I will try to explain better.
When i played dragon age origins first time (without installing patch 1.03), when I speak to Morrigan I have to main option of dialogues:
1) "I'd like to ask you something"
2) "I'd like to to discuss something personal"
After installing patch 1.03, i can chose only the first option (I'd like to ask you something).
What could it be?
Thx for your help and i apologize for my orrible english..

Am I the only person who is having the game crash alot with this new patch. I mean its done it at some really inoppotune moments right near the end of difficult fights, when starting the game any time.
Obviously you aren't, seeing as how this alone is 30 pages long. Hopefully you aren't on Steam, or you are boned. If you own an actual physical copy, I would suggest reinstalling and patching back to the last one BEFORE stupid 1.03. Bioware seems far to busy with their fancy Bazaar to even bother responding to any complaints, let alone make a new patch.

Honestly, this has to be one of the most active threads in the entire Forum. I know that BW moderators post to many of the others frequently. And I know Chris is checking at least *some* of them, 'cuz he's thrown the *LOCKDOWN* bomb more than once in the past 48 hours. That said, I can only think (wishful tho' it may be) that he's under orders to say nothing on this topic, lest his comments be construed as some kind of BW "pledge".
Honestly, at this point most of us would settle for, "We hear you." if we thought it came from someone real.

Honestly! Is it too much to expect an acknowdgement of our problem?]
Anyway: Am embarking on an effort to identify, (and post) the list of files modified when applying patch 1.03 over 1.02. Doing this not because I can make any useful mods myself, but in the hope that others can ID the trouble spots in the same way that the the "reversed sign in script" error that broke Pickpocketing was found. Anyone with ideas, tools, or advice is welcome to PM me.

If you spot a 1.03 bug and figure out how to fix it, the package should be in override format only. Why? Because disabling and deleting a mod installed via daupdater can be tricky. The force load screens also make some people nervous. Keep in mind these are files that will (most likely) not be needed after a patch. Include full source codes, more for BW sake than ours- if they can see a working fix it makes applying it in an official patch much easier. Thandal, if you're choosing to be the figurehead of a group for this purpose I have no issues with it.

Well, I am certainly willing to be the collection/redistro point.
Jallard? I believe I found the Steal_Dog_CD fix through you. *That's* the kind of deep dive into problems that I both a) respect, and
But I *am* willing to do the "un-install/re-install with this/that change". (Really trying to get a VM environment functioning for this purpose. Curse copy protection! Keep getting the "failed authentication" error, even though I have legit PC disc and did the install, *in the VM*, from that disc!) See my earlier posts for SysSpecs (ummm, robust?) and current mods (nothing serious).

But my respect and admiration for the folk that can figure out where the coders made a slip-up remains genuine. It's been over 10 years since I had to do any serious slinging myself, and as much as I liked it, I also know how hard it can be to anticipate every little thing the users might do/have/try.
Anyway, give me your stuff to test (in a retail disc, PC environment) , and I'll see what happens!

What all are you wanting to test? Don't give people the wrong idea or you might wind up with a pair of dirty pantaloons.

Willing to test changes to DA:O install, settings, options, patching order, etc., (including using community mods and even installing DA:A, which I have, but haven't used yet!) in an effort to find a way to overcome the "running DA:O with patch 1.03 installed regularly and repeatably causes my system to crash to the desktop, frequently at a critical point in combat" problem.
Willing to consider testing fixes for other 1.03-related issues (e.g. Pickpocketing) but that's not the focus.
*Hoping* to do this in a VM environment, but so far haven't got my (legit. retail PC) disc to "authenticate" after it installed (completely normally and successfully) on the VM.

1) In the dalish camp, when you give the ironbark wood to the merchant and tell him "you can do both", the "Persuade" choice appears two times in the next dialog options.
2) In the werewolf ruins in the lower ruins section, there is a place where you can unlock the arcane warrior specialization. Just before getting here, you are attacked by a bunch of skeletons. After beating those skeletons, immediately after the battle ended, I was litterally "teleported" right next to the sarcophage(the one with the juggernaut armor) and had to beat the shades and the ghost. I had not completed (not event tried) the elven ritual before this. Once the ennemies killed and once I had the armor, I could not get out of this room. The exit was locked. By chance I could reload a previous save. However, after reloading a previous save, I was unable to reproduce the problem.

Is there *any* news of when the patch get's fixed? I haven't bought Awakening so far because of all those bugs... but I'm getting a bit impatient now, as I really would like to play the Addon.

Public Relations and support for a game
EVER.
Never buying a Bioware game again.
This is just inexcusably a slap in the face from EA/Bioware.
Sad, I never thought that I'd say that about my favourite developer . .
