I too just downloaded the patch.  I went directly from 1.0 to 1.03.  I upgraded since I have preordered Awakening.  Things I have noticed since I applied the patch are:

Pickpocketing doesn't return any loot (like others have mentioned before me)
Specializations, I have already unlocked are no longer unlocked for my new character
Weapon damage is not updating on the inventory screen in camp when I switch weapons.  Note that even if I equip no weapons the damage doesn't change.  (I will be trying it out of camp shortly)  I often use this when deciding on which gear to equip.

I think the no_cd crack bugged some of us. I did some swaping around of the launchers and found the stamina/mana gone with the no_cd launcher but there with the other launcher ? Three different topics with multi pages and no word if the "creators" are gonna look into this. Please advise

You're complaining about a tampered game thinking that a random guy on the internet that provided it, could tamper with it without adverse effects even without access to the games source code?

Good Luck getting any issues that are present in a hacked game, resolved.

Heck, the company could have put special code in that will damage important game files if it detects itself as being tampered with.

I'll ad my two cents; pick pocketing is broken As reported, it seems you can pick pocket money, but not items. You get the message that stealing was successful but no item in your inventory. I had thought it was working okay, but that was a result of poor testing on my part. Further investigation tonight confirmed it's not working with this patch. So far, I've seen no other issues. The game did crash once last night, but it's been prone to that for me since I got it, so I won't attribute that to the patch.

System specs:

Core 2 Duo E6750 overclocked to 3.4 GHz
4 GBs (2 x 2GB) Mushkin Redlines
GeForce GTX 260 Core 216
Gigabyte P35 DS3L motherboard
3 hard drives, with the game installed on a separate drive to the OS.

Mods: Respec mod, faster stealing cooldown mod, stamina potion mod, Innodil's Pocket Plane mod.

Thus far I have only noticed the pickpocket bug but to be honest I never really use it on a casual basis and it does work for plot-based items, so...meh.
My game crashes out occasionally but it's always done this and is attributed to my graphics driver unexpectedly spazzing out so that's not related.
I have not *noticed* anything else and I've played for 3 to 4 hours since patching. vanilla install no mods.

Guys and Gals PLEASE do not buy the expansions for this game.

If you do, you are only encouraging them to release buggy software that is not fit for release.
It's around half a year after release and they have chosen to release a patch that addresses the expansion and not the glaring errors with the original game. $$$$$ it seems is all that counts. (in some cases the patch made it worse).

Show EA you won't stand for this very poor customer service and treatment.
Many people STILL can't play the game properly, even now, and Bioware/EA have chosen to go after more of your money, rather than fix the game to how it should have been on release day.

Vote with your wallet, or this type of customer treatment will become the norm.

this is not nesary patches always go through testing bioware and eas for the xconsoles it's even more.

bugs happen this issues were not intended I'm pretty sure they will fix them as soon as possible.

So your going to just take it? And then fork over more money for DLC ,in the meantime, to add to a broken game.
Well with people like you lining up, I may have to go buy some EA shares.

I apologize ahead of time for incoming wall of text.

Geez. Why all the gloom and doom?

Sure the game has problems. And yes a lot of the special abilties are just pretty icons that don't function as intended (or desired). But if you play on a PC (which I assume you do) there are a number of mods that fix 80-90% of the balance and gameplay problems (of course that doesn't include the long load times, CTDs, or DLC download issues).

I agree some of the official DLC content is kind of underwhelming (given how short each vignette is) but the main game is still spot on for the story and characters. And if you get a mod like Combat Tweaks the gameplay is very balanced and you can use optional featrues to adjust difficulty to your heart's desire (from vanilla / easy  to insanity / getting your teeth kicked in every other fight).

It sounds like a fair share of the reported bugs here have nothing to do with patch v1.03. And I am sorry for those people who are experiencing crashes (sure that sucks) but I can appreciate that it isn't easy to develop something across multiple platforms. Let alone on the PC side where so many people have so many different hardware / OS configurations nowadays it must be insane. And I am sure the long load times are frustrating for some people and I empathize, I really do, since I get those as well the longer I play, But it isn't the end of the world to quit the game every 1-1.5 hours and reload. At least it works for me.

There are a lot of other games out there that commit much more cardinal  gaming sins and fail from  the start in that they are (a) wholesale derivative of  previous games, (B) uncreative and uncompelling (is that a word?), or © so busted and broken they are unplayable from the start. DAO has been none of those things. Heck I enjoyed it out of the box in v1.0.

Sure it had bugs (daggers / dex, OP Cone of Cold / Crushing Prison, weird encounter balancing) but I still had a heck of fun time immersing myself in the DAO universe. I only turned to mods like Combat Tweaks so I could expereince the rest of  the game that wasn't working in vanilla. As a side benefit these mods gave me back the difficulty (and more) that Bioware nerfed to bits in the early patches becuase people complained and cried how hard it all was. But guess what I am on my fifth playthrough right now.   I can't think of any other recent games that have had similar amount of replayability (that I know isn't a word but meh)  with the differnt party compositons, character classes and origin stories.

Anyways I am getting off my soapbox. Peace.

The console versions have always had the "pickpocket bug".  It's never been possible to steal non-fixed items there.

Please, stop. We get it, you're a fanboy, whoop dee do. Doesn't make you any more special than the rest of us. The game has bugs, and now a patch made to fix them has just made things worse. So please, forgive us for not acting like blind bootlickers. Its kinda hard to appreciate all the "replayability" when the game crashes every 5 minutes as it does for some of us. And you know, its kinda hard to understand you when you write all condescending and holier than thou, "I feel for you, REALLY I feel for you....but shut up".

The acquisition of this product has been a dire failure.

While without doubt a great game, it has so many technical issues that it at times has been unplayable.

My hardware I think is above average:

ecs gf8100VM-5 Mobo
4 gig Ram
AMD 8400 Phenom triple core
ATI Radeon 4850
Creative X-Fi Titanium

Before the 1.03 patch, main issues were terrible loading times and significant lag during action scenes.

The 1.03 patch now adds

a) regular crashes
B) connectivity problems to the Bioware servers
c) loss of half of my gear

This is of course unacceptable, but will I ever get my money back?

Nah.

Could the thread be kept on topic?

It's not really about wether you are or are not going to buy the expansion or if you are a fanboi, a troll, or any other forum life form.

It's about bugs.

I got the pickpocketing one as well.

It's all the "random" items from pickpocket that don't appear in the inventory.

So the quartermaster in Ostagar still gives the belt, Vartag should still have his shield etc, but random soldier #4 doesn't give a healing poultice or quartz or whatever.

you can manually uninstall the patch if you go into the game files and delete it, thats what i did and it fixed the lagging problem cause id rather wait a little longer for the game to load than have it lagging the entire time im playing

There are so many patch files... which one do I delete?

I have never had one single CTD with DA during more the 100 hours play. After installing patch 1.03 I get frequent CDT's and even a complete system freeze. Wow, how did you manage that?

NO mods installed.

I just downloaded the 1.03 patch last night from 1.00 and Fought the Night Battle at Redcliffe.
Upon conclusion I wandered around Redcliffe for about 30minutes until finally I got frustrated and went to the IGN walkthrough... It stated that once the battle is won a cut scene starts... Am I stuck in Redcliffe Limbo now??? Help!

Sounds like the old Battle of Redcliff bug. Is the battle really over, or did the game fail to spawn all the undead?
You may need to reload your last save before the battle.

I had the problem with increasingly long load times, which the patch has seemed to fix for me. I'm experiencing the lag issue, though. My game used to run smooth (except a few sections during the final battle in Denerim), now it lags in strange random places and fairly frequently.

EDIT:  I have crashed once, but I used to have crashes playing with the old patch as well.

I went ahead and sent an email listing the various issues and included my DxDiag, hopefully it will help the developers address the problem.

Uninstalled and am currently re-installing to roll-back to 1.02

Hope they fix this mess before Awakening.

I am not planning to play a broken game.

This patch is a virus. Really wonder what the testers of this were doing. Took me 5 hours to discover the 3 major issues: 1) Lag, 2) Random Crash, 3) Broken pickpocket. There are also other issues like characters/enemies not moving as they shall.

I want to reinstall the game with 1.02b, but will my savegame used with 1.03 work with 1.02b? There were made som changes with the levelup-system and more. I am worried this have made the savegame not compatible with 1.02b?

Have anyone tried this and can say for sure that it is safe to downgrade?

Btw: The buy/not buy Awakening is very on topic in my opinion. This patch is needed to play Awakening. And Awakening is not worth a broken main game if you ask me. I will wait for a new patch for sure.

Everyone! Write to Bioware about the problems with the patch here:

http://help.dragonag...ty=&p_redirect=

If a lot of players report problems, the chance for a fast patch 1.3b or 1.4 is much bigger.

I never crashed before, but since installing and playing the new patch I've crashed about 5 times. My load times, however, have improved on playing for more than 4 or so hours.

Load times improved for me, but I'm crashing in fights now, which almost never happened before. Just crashed out in the final mage tower fight.

Also getting more video lag than before.

Annoying. To put it mildly.

Unfortunately, as a Steam user, this is an auto-patch for me.  The one big disadvantage of Steam.

Naah, not going happen... The vote has been cast many times already and all results say that empty offers in shiny boxes prevail over higher quality in lesser quantity.

Seriously, current game industry couldn't exist in its current state if the amount of people willing to spend before evaluating wasn't enough to maintain it. Believe it or not, but the demanding audience is only an optional part of customer-base and as such hitting their (or should I say our) wallet is not important.

By the way, I noticed the lack of DA registration shown for your account. A coincidence?

Closer to the topic:
-I also noticed broken stealing. It only seems to affect random loot. Anything that isn't being generated at the time of stealing (like quest items of non-random loot) works fine.
-The changes on level-up interface freaked me out. Were they really necessary?
-Didn't notice anything else ftm, but I haven't been playing long enough to comment on load times and crashes.

Why am even posting this... damn it, we aren't being paid to test... in fact we pay and still test... Is "quality assurance" only an outdated reference used by grumpy posters these days? ... don't answer...
