Origions ran like a champ.
Still on the same system, a few months later and DRAMA. I have tried the fixes, like setting the Affinity and such. No real difference.
So, I thought I would wait for a patch...um, that was over a month ago.

I'm not paying to play Barbie with my rpg characters and I'm not paying for stuff you left out of the original game that you are now charging 5 dollars for 2 lousy missions or quests for.

I almost lol'd at this.
Well, myself I have been expecting a patch since March, but no signs of a new one. I'm currently restarting the game because I messed up with some characters, and I hope I find no problems this time. I experienced a crash lately by the way..and you know, crashes are annoying.

I just had my first crash. And then one more a few minutes after that. I've been playing more than an hour now but the loading screen is getting longer. It used to be I can't even read fast enough to finish the summary on the loading screen. Now, I bet I can draw the loading wheel from memory.
It's an awesome game and I just want to play it. Come on Bioware..

I don't know about that, I have created some very beautiful [Victoria Model type] female characters. Much more pleasing to look at than some Dudley Do-Right character. Besides, the women are much better fighters all-around.

I haven't posted here for a while. I'm really angry I can't play the game I paid good money for. I've been engaged in email tennis with EA support - (who will NOT refund or credit me under any circumstances I've been told) - and this is in the latest email to me. I quote:Regretfully we do not have information on if or when a fix will be put in place. They are however collecting data from the community and are examining solutions if they determine enough customers have the problem and the problem is technically addressable with a patch, or if a work around is possible. The development thread on this issue is http://social.biowar...9/index/541856. Certainly development will use the information gathered to ensure that this problem does not occur in future releases, however it is impossible to guarantee that this will ever be fixed in the current version.
That's where I'm at. NEVER, NEVER again. Bioware - it was nice knowing you.
K_man at least You got an answear if some what abserd one.
Most of us did not even get that.
http://social.biowar.../9/index/541856
That thread seams to have nothing to do with the issues and saddly was closed by a modrator.
As near I can tell this is what going on please correct me if I missed somthing or your the Execption.
Freezing and crashing to desktop is Windows 64 bit issue
People with XP seem immuned to all issues even with multi cores.
People with Windows 7 32 bit seem to have other issues like missing currpt files and Saved game that well save with strange screwy Errors.
Unless the Windows 7 32 bit has a Multi Core in witch case they get the every once in a while crash.
So I guess if I want to play the Game I need to Down grade to XP ?
(A Direct x 10 to 11 issue maybe? as Xp dose not run that.)
Dose this mean the Game testers are all using XP?
As we Know that not manny people run Windows 7 or multi cores CPU I Guess the parisites feel justfide in not fixing it. Yes, That was sarcasm.
All in All the game of the year has become the worst crap of the year.
60.00 dollars gone. PUff Waisted. No stolen.
Never again EA So Done BIOWARE or Obsidian or what ever you call your selfs, DONE!
Hope You go Bankrupt and you YES YOU Greg Zeschuk president of BioWare Die from something that couse you to rot to death slowly like a Flesh Eating Bacteria. I will Never Again Buy a Game with his name attached to it in anyway.
Hmmm can we make that a Group Prayer Circle,Normaly do not beleave in that sort thing but I'll give it a shot.
On a more practical Note if this is a None XP issue Or even a Direct x 10 or 11 could the comunity come up with a Work around ?Compatbilty tad is useless. So I am Guess ing this is a Direct x 10 to 11 issue. How can we check Windows 7 comes with 10 installed?

Oh come on, people. There's not going to be a fix to 1.03 patch. Give it up. The CtD issue isn't even going to be acknowledged. It doesn't fit the EA business model (and by extension, doesn't fit the Bioware business model). I just uninstalled everything Bioware from my computer and am moving on. Try it. It's quite liberating. See ya'll around, but not on this forum.
I guess you won't be around to read this, but yeah, They're not acknowledging crash or stability issues at all. <_<

things that seems to cause ctd
1. mana clash almost guarantees a crash. without exception casting this spell will crash my game. holy smite is almost as bad. this makes the circle tower unplayable.
2. crashes tend to coincide with spell casting, having mages in party increase crash rate. fighting enemy with mage has a 50% chance crash at the begining of combat when they cast their spell at the same time.
do people share these experience. I tried playing with no Mage in party and crashes were a lot less. tho the Mage circle part is still a problem.

Didn't have any luck with the DirectX "v9 runtime files" suggestion. (Installed fine, just had no effect on my CtD problem.)
THIS, on the other hand, DID do the trick for me!

Dragon age CTD's in Windows 7 64 bits --> partial fix maybe here !
Hi,
I encountered similar CTD's problem with fallout 3 that where solved with the trick provided here (thanks to NMC and Madboris):
http://www.fallout3n...ile.php?id=6510
I used the same solution for the main dragon age executable (daorigins.exe) and ... big ammélioration, only 1 CTD after more than 6 hours playing (before I couldn't play more than 10 min).
How it works:
Windows 7 64 bits is able to address large memory space (in my case I hace 12 GB memory), "standard" win32 executable can't use more than 2 GB of memory.
Sometimes, when memory space is exhausted, it may cause CTD's and other bad things.
The files provided for fallout 3 by NMC can be used to patch the header of any executable, including the dragon age exe file, to make it able to exceed the 2 GB memory limit.
It is quite simple:
1) download the archive on the provided link
2) edit the start.bat file and replace any occurence of "fallout3.exe" with "daorigins.exe"
3) IMPORTANT: make a backup of your daorigins.exe file
4) copy the file in the folder where you have extracted the 3 GB enabler files
5) execute the modified start.bat and follow the instructions
6) move the patched daorigins.exe in your fallout 3 bin directory, replacing the original file.
WARNING: If you are using a 32 bit OS, you also need to allow large memory address at system level via boot.ini edition. Please read the readme included in the archive
Note: no reverse engineering here, just a modification of the header.
Please, let me know if it solved your CDT as it solved mine.
Best regards and have fun with Dragon Age,
P.S.: I imagine it will not help for any quest related bugs
Adding my personal experience:
After applying the FO3 "Large Memory Space" fix as described above, (see pg 31 of this thread) went from CtD whenever a significant amount of on-screen action occurred (e.g. AOE spells and grenades) to almost NEVER crashing. Played through the Siege of Denerim and Final (rooftop) Battle about a half-dozen times with several different PCs.
Once convinced that the "patched patch" was stable, I loaded DA:A. Now have about 20 crash-free hours of Awakening play-time, using three different PCs imported from DA:O (all seem waaaaaaay over-powered, but that's another thread!)
So again, I heartily recommend the Fallout3 solution (for those of us with >2GB) and thank akanounnikoff for posting it!

I tried that already (I was using a crack from the start); didn't make a difference as far as gameplay was concerned, although it may have been why I wasn't getting game crashes.dannehhhh wrote...
vitality i think, altough i was messing around for a long time to find a solution to my ctd's
EDIT: And so there is no confusion, my copy is legit (not pirated); I got it as a gift from a friend I play City of Heroes/Villains with. I just don't like having to pull out my disc everytime I want to play it (not to mention the disc will get damaged as it's used due to wear & tear). I prefer disc images over cracks, but securom encryption prevents that with most newer games.

Just download the EA Download Manager, enter the reg key, and get a free digital copy of DA. You can do that with any recent EA game, in fact. The one caveat is that you have to uninstall before you can download and install the digital copy. If it finds the game directory on your hard drive, all it'll let you do is launch.

No the game play still horrible (quest glitchs and so on)but at least I stopped crashing my whole PC! And needing to risk damaging my hard wear to reboot by turning off the power!
The Game Play will I hope get's fixed in time by the community with the editor but I could not even run the game before.
Got be A Memory leak from a baddly compiled exe I.E. wrong header,no flag set ex.. Maybe in the copy protection itself ,do not care this was easy to avoid and fix to have the crack work as it dose (AS IT DOSE WORK).Means patch 1.03 this was there fore Pure incompetence and laziness At BioWare. And they could or release a quick patch to fix it!
Will EA Step in already and fire someone? There People who work for there cash that deserve there Jobs but not the Turkey who did that patch!
What dose some one have to do to get fired at BioWear?
