So, the new darkspawn DLC is out but still no news of patch 1.03 fix for PC that has been bugging some of us more than 2 months ago. Has anyone played the new DLC on PC and does it still crashes? I am curious.

That'd be an intresting fix: "If you want your game to actually work, you have to pay for DLC."

Win 7 contains runtime for DX11; but it also has runtimes for dx10 and dx9. But some older hardware and games may need some optional files only included in DirectX 9 (which are not automatically part of a newer DirectX version), you should download and install DirectX 9.0c from here: http://www.microsoft...a-9b6652cd92a3. Newer files (from DirectX 11) will remain untouched.

Jeffon that fix has been tried and failed. We even tried -dx9 flag (helps) but crashes still happen I think a Graphic effect /shader or possbly sound file was not encoded right and newer DX just crashes it more often but it's the game that's broke as no other game has a problem. And for the record original Windows 7 RTM did not have 11 dx in it only 10.That later disks and updates.
Nice try but we all have thought of downloading the old DX 9 and installing it a month back.

No what I wondering is if there a update in windows 7 security it self or DX that doing this or maybe a widows 7 native codex that updated. A incompatable shader or sound file would make sence as the crashes are related to combat with magic effects or entering the Fade or transformations.

But whats annoying is Bioware HAD TIME to fix this has the souce code made the cursed Patch and Packaged it.
So there should been a rebuilder or at least a roll back by now.If not a Update fix.

They clearly do not respect us and are putting all there resouces and Programing people on the MMORPG starwars project and not fixing what they wear already payed for.:(

mmmm, the only way i can see that would shake them up is to have a mass amount of people filling in reports to the better business bureau and explain the problem, they will look into it.

There are laws and mecanism to protect consumers against unfair treatment by companies. You can voice your discontent to them. One complaint will not end up doing much but a bunch might get the ball rolling.

I am the kind of guy that is impatient to be honest but i can give someone a break if they have a legitimate reason and deserve to be forgiven but this whole situation right now is beyond aggravation.

I have seen many messed up games and some companies could not patch because they were out of business or did not have the resource to do so, otherwise they would have patched their game. The Titan Quest team comes to mind on this.

Dragon age is a completely different horse. They have problems with their game yet still are pushing out content to people. So the company is obviously not in dire straits. They are forcing the silent treatment on us at this time. Should we not react?

You should see the rockstar forums...i have seen the F word so many times it is not even funny. 99.5% of the people here have been polite in expressing their opinions and discontent.

Now like i said you can be heard thru legitimate means and make bioware and EA give us an explanation.

Call me a troll, an agitator, a flamer,  ( sissypants according to  Mr Pristley ) or whatever is the current name for a ding dong on the internet right now but heck if i am gonna pay for a *************. It better deliver or otherwise you are gonna see me complain about it.

nuff said.

I am having consistently crash issues on the latest patch, the crash's only accoured after installing the latest patch.. and same issues with the Stealing issues, as well as the DLC's doesn't get added after being confiscated on some char background types.

To try to eliminate many software conflict issues, use msconfig to 1)deselect all startup items 2)deselect all non-microsoft services. Restart your machine.. and try the game again.

I'm sure this has been suggested before ..somewhere... as it is pc troubleshooting 101...

Im not sure what the del is luckily i havnt had the crashes as of yet with the 1.03 patch but i dont think it installed correctly so that might be why..but i havnt even gotten one of my dlc to work as of yet either im stuck trying to log into the da servers after i tell the dryden guy to hold on for a sec or i got past the other dlc 1 time and they all crashed it teased me a little by sending me to ostagar for the return to ostagar package but it locked up on the map...crazy...and u all are right it kills me that bio-ware and EA especially a huge company like ea would just ignore the probs there customers are haveing and keep releaseing new dlc...**** we cant get the other crap to work i aint buying nothing from either company untill they can fix the problems they already have...but im sure they are still makeing there quota from people who just buy the game and dont know all the probs they are haveing and love the game so much they buy all dlc like i did...they cant run from it forever though becouse the game magasins are picking up on whats going on and getting it out there.they went from top rated to biggest flop rated with the dlc and the awakening addition even saying that awakening was basically just a thrown together pointless game with no story.sooo....eventually EA will drop bio-ware and bio-ware will go belly up EA will win in the end becouse they dont have to take responsibilty for it and they get the pocket lineing...so im not sure if bio-ware is the one who should be shouldering the blame...EA is pulling there strings.Since EA bought out bio-ware there service has went to ****...think about that.so even if u get the ball rolling against bio-ware the real demon sherks its skin and loses a company they were in compatition with for years...takes what employee's it wants and trashcans the whole company. Some of us know who the real demon is though..sadly there isnt much that can be done..this is biusness at its durtiest.Im not saying feel bad for EA becouse they sold there gold start standard down the drain for the all mighty dollar.Im sure the owners can sit home stuffin bon-bons in there mouths fairly happy no matter how jon-q public feels.

Yep I used a peice of freeware GameBooster http://www.iobit.com/gamebooster.html . It makes it easyer to do all that each time you start a game and stop playing one but it dose not help. 1.03 is a nightmare.
PS
I did it the old way to. Nothing Works.

Hmm... maybe it can help me with part of my problem. I always thought my PC was struggling more with the game then it should. And I can run Crysis Warhead (doubt it effects Bruno's point) at max settings.

BrunoB1971 wrote...

If your machine can run crysis on
close to high or decently high settings with decent framerate then there
is no way in hell dragon age should give you any problems or
grief....the hardware is not at fault here ( at least for most people )
the coding is...

Crysis is or was considered a machine killer and
a benchmark for graphics quality so like i said if you can run crysis
you can "out" run dragon age.

If GameBooster won't help I'll need to find the motivation for yet another reinstallation. If the count stays at "1", damned updater-service!:pinched:

UPDATE:
First test suggests the Booster helps me. Will have to play some more to see if there won't be all the 'lagg' I used to experience.

I've got some weird bug in Awakening. By that I mean that I haven't seen any info about it on the forums and dragon age wiki.

I've played once through Awakening without big problems. Now on my second playthrough, after completing one main quest and returning to Vigil's keep, whenever I want to zone to another area the game crashes. I checked previous saves, no crashes. I defragged my hd, deleted temp files still the game crashes in the aforementioned situation.

The only conclusion I can draw is that it is a quest-related bug. The difference between my 1st and current play so far is that I killed the Dark Wolf immediately whereas I paid him and left him alive the 1st time. Because I accepted to seek the help of the Dark Wolf, but killed him before receiving his info I assume this creates a hole in the quest. I should have either paid him and killed him afterwards or let myself ambushed by the traitors.

Anyway, I still can travel wherever I want to if I don't go to Vigil's Keep, so I'll do another main quest and return to Vigil's keep to see what happens then.

I was able to beat the game with minimal crashes, although they still occured. On a lot of boss fights the game would crash and I'd have to start over (Circle boss crashed 3x).

Sometimes random hallways would crash as well, such as a place in the Deep Roads.

Overall though, the crashes weren't that big of an issue, annoying yes. The problem was the load screens after a few hours took upwards of a minute to load, even when going from camp to Denerim. Usually a quick reload of the game fixes it, but it's definitely a nuisance.

Other than that, and the pickpocket issue, I haven't experienced any other bugs.

Before I downloaded 1.03, I had no problems. As of now, the game crashes and I can't even create a character on the game itself or the character creator. Which is a real pain since Awakenings requires 1.03. Bioware, please come out with a 1.04 patch soon!!

OK, GameBooster (v1.4) managed to delay the laggy behaviour quite a bit, but it's still happening.

But now, in Ostagar at the beginning, I suddenly find myself engaged in conversations while walking about although I wasn't at all close to where these conversations take place. Though that might just be the usual PC-game "decay".

Hello, I just wanted to poke my head into this thread to point to the following link:

http://social.biowar...4/index/2803211

Victor Wachter will take care of all revealing of patch related infos from here on out. As he says in his thread, not *all* bugfixes will be listed there immediately. However, the list will grow as various fixes pass QA and are approved. Thanks to all of you for your (extended!) patience, and have a great weekend.

[grumble]  While I'm happy to see that a new patch is going to be released, I'm very disappointed that none of the reported problems in this thread have been addressed.  Because of this, I'll probably be sticking with 1.02a until I know otherwise.  I might try it just to see if how it works, but I won't be purchasing any new DLC until I know that the required patches are working properly...  Image IPB

I never thought BioWare would completely abandon us, but...

Nathan Willis wrote...

I think they should work on their (or EA's?) quality assurance.

Now excuse me while I re-install the game for the bazillionth time, hoping the official DLC will install properly so I won't have to do it over and over again.<_<
...where's my 1.02 Patch?

As i do not have the rights to post in the "news and announcments" forum, id like to point out:

searanox wrote...

I'd like to highlight the following mod:

http://social.biowar...m/project/2563/

Qwinn's Fixpack is a comprehensive unofficial patch for Dragon Age on the PC, which fixes a large number of scripting issues, as well as bugs related to game mechanics and dialogue options. There are absolutely no changes to gameplay, characters, etc., and the most substantial change is the restoration of the Jowan's Intention quest. I think that, if it hasn't been checked out already, it would be worthwhile for you to investigate the fixes made, and consider incorporating them in the update - even if they aren't major issues, they contribute to the overall polish of the game.

Either way, the news is appreciated and I'm eager to finish up Awakening, since bugs had caused me to put it on hold less than a week after buying it.

I really think that this should be looked at very carefully and if this works then include it in the patch!

The bugs in patch 1.03 are certainly enough to skip both it, and Awakening, and the newest DLC that also depends on that bad patch, but none of that would make any difference when anyone chooses to ignore minimums to the extent of attempting to play with an ancient laptop that only has a 7400 in it.  You almost certainly would get far enough into this game to meet hardly any of those many bugs with that weak of a video device.
