Patch 1.04 is in the making, but there's no release date on it yet. Further information can be found here:

No improvement on loading times AT ALL!
After exactly 14 minutes of playing, traveling from Denerim to Orzimmar doing 2-3 quests on the way, it took me 2 minutes and 34 seconds to load from commons to diamond quarters.
Pathetic.
that all is dependant on your PC though. My load times are within 5 seconds or less on an i7 machine 6GB RAM, ATi 5850 1GB and a half decent HDD. Western digital 750GB Black edition. Maybe your HDD is your issue?
I run the game maxed out with 8xAA with 1920x1080 Res.
PC spec please.

Patch 1.04 is out. Not gonna celebrate until I see how it works, however.

Same here. The worse thing is this entire experience casts doubt on how BioWare supports their products. I become very cautioned when wanting to buy another of their products. The ME franchise, perhaps yes. The Dragon Age franchise, perhaps not. If touch wood there are major problem with the 1.4 patch, I wouldn't want to wait for another 4 months for a fix.

My main annoyance is when the AI forgets to attack in combat and just stands there. I just won two Proving battles in the Dwarf origin story because the AI just stood there while I attacked. It really is outrageous after this amount of time for things like that to persist.
You have applied the 1.04 patch I presume? I still haven't patched up mine and am monitoring the feedback for this new patch. I may even consider reinstalling the game with 1.02 if this patch still is buggy. At least from what I remember, patch 1.02 is pretty stable.

No, I was sticking with the thread title and referring to 1.03. I didn't see this issue among the 1.04 fixes, though.

Dragon age CTD's in Windows 7 64 bits --> partial fix maybe here !
Hi,
I encountered similar CTD's problem with fallout 3 that where solved with the trick provided here (thanks to NMC and Madboris):
http://www.fallout3n...ile.php?id=6510
I used the same solution for the main dragon age executable (daorigins.exe) and ... big ammélioration, only 1 CTD after more than 6 hours playing (before I couldn't play more than 10 mn).
How it works:
Windows 7 64 bits is able to address large memory space (in my case I hace 12 GB memory), "standard" win32 executable can't use more than 2 GB of memory.
Sometimes, when memory space is exhausted, it may cause CTD's and other bad things.
The files provided for fallout 3 by NMC can be used to patch the header of any executable, including the dragon age exe file, to make it able to exceed the 2 GB memory limit.
It is quite simple:
1) download the archive on the provided link
2) edit the start.bat file and replace any occurence of "fallout3.exe" with "daorigins.exe"
3) IMPORTANT: make a backup of your daorigin.exe file
4) copy the file in the folder where you have extracted the 3 GB enabler files
5) execute the modified start.bat and follow the instructions
6) move the patched daorigins.exe in your fallout 3 bin directory, replacing the original file.
WARNING: If you are using a 32 bit OS, you also need to allow large memory address at system level via boot.ini edition. Please read the readme included in the archive
Note: no reverse engineering here, just a modification of the header.
Please, let me know if it solved your CDT as it solved mine.
Best regards and have fun with Dragon Age,
P.S.: I imagine it will not help for any quest related bugs
I ah... have DAO on steam, would this whole thing work the same way??
I'd rather not fiddle around with the background stuff and inevitably break it without knowing that this will work for the steam DAO, basically do I do all this to the exe in the steam folders?
