How many of you that are crashing use windows 7? I still use Windows XP and I don't crash (played 4+ hours still no crash).

Using Windows Vista 32 bit here.

So i dont think its exclusive to Win 7.

I'm using Vista 64 bit and have never experienced any CTD's.

But the new lag I'm experiencing is waaaay over the top. Long loading times are still there also.

Everything starts out fine for the first couple of hours and then it's all down hill after that.

I can normally play "other" games for 18 to 24 hours nonstop and never have a single problem...I wish that was the case with this game because I really like it. *play two hours, stop and turn it off...play two hours, stop and turn it off, rinse and repeat until I snap the disc in half.

i think the question should be: how many of you use the steam release of dragon age?

they should at least put 1.01 and 1.02 patches back on site untill 1.03 is fixed god this is frustrating to play with constant crashes

They are easy enough to get hold of, mind...

Shale's Rock Barrage ability is not working correctly. It costs stamina and the "throw-rocks-in-the-air" gfx is shown, but the rocks never hit the ground and no damage is inflicted.

It seems as though post-patch activating "Combat Magic" makes my character transparent.

That's not a glitch. The archane warrior turns white/transparent because while in combat magic you are halfway in the fade and halfway in the world.

I don't think it's an OS thing as I'm on windows 7 64 bit and have had no lag or crash issues with 1.03. Pickpocketing is broken though as has been detailed by others.

Are all these actually bugs with the patch - are you guys sure that everything mentioned is a result of the patch?!
It just seems a bit over the top to be honest...
I mean the pick pocket thing but it's almost every single thing that gets noticed is now attributed to the the patch and that surely can't be the case?

I think there are some that are not patch related, but since it was released there seems to be consistent reports of:

- Pick Pocketing not working
- Game 'lag' (stuttering)
- Mana/Stamina bar glitches
- Increased game crashing

I think these four problems, at least, are patch related.

For Steam users, the option to rollback to 1.02 would be welcome for those of us who are experiencing these crashes. Normally I do not resort to hyperbolic statements, but the game is unplayable in its current state. For instance, you could be playing through a challenging encounter and the game could crash at any given moment, effectively undoing all of your progress.

Another one is as soon as I loaded a save after 1.03, I noticed that my character's weapons totally disappeared. The only thing special about them were they were Duncan's weapons from Ostagar. The other characters retained everything. I keep saves from major game points and had to go back to before Ostagar for my character retained his weapons. I reinstalled the game and patched only back up to 1.02 and the weapons re-appeared. So 1.03 is gone and will not be re-installed.

I'm so glad I came to this forum first before installing 1.03. It seems that this type of game breaking patches are becoming more common, and not just with EA/Bioware games. I think a lot has to do with the new DLC system and having to modify games to be able to play them, or in DAO case the new expasion. It used to be back in the good old days that an expansion would add things to an game, or it just would need the game installed to run. But now, more and more games are needing to me modified to allow new content to run. I have a good example of this. The game Borderlands from Gearbox has had three patces now just so the DLC content will work with the game. But in the prosses they have introduced major bugs as a side effect. The offical Borderlands forum is full of complants about how these patches have broken the game. The secound patch for the game, which allowed it to run the first DLC , broke the games grafic's for hunderds people. It was a horrable bug that made all the shadows and lighing in the game look like black bars flicking arcross the screen. No problem like that before the patch. It took Gearbox almost 4 months to fix the problem. Then not a month later a new patch for some new DLC which also messed up the game.

So I really think that a lot of this has to do with the new way that developers are dealing with new content. Sure they say that they are "fixing bugs" but really all they are doing is modifing the game so it can work with the newest DLC/expansion.

That's my 2cents on this matter.

Oh and BTW, why do guys that have no problems with the game keep posting in this thread that their game runs fine? It's not helpful and it gets really old after the first 3-4 posts. If your game is working, great go play it and let us poor folks with problems alone so we can try and get to the bottom of this. The only way developer can "fix" their games is if enough peolep dersibe what their issues are. (and they have to read the forum)

well, I haven't update to 1.03 yet either. Can anyone tell me if 1.03 at least fixes that frikken memory leak issue? I can't believe the sloppy coding in this game. Everytime I load a new area the game slows down more and more and load times get longer and longer.

Using Windows 7 64 bit.

I've had a few CTDs, but also I've noticed my rogue can't see any traps any longer. It'll be right in front of me, I can see it as the player, I'll wait around for a few minutes at least, and my rogue still can't seem to see the thing right in front of his face. All this happened since 1.03.

Ah, thanks... Must have been the case that I gained those Arcane Warrior abilities at around the same time as the patch came out.  Oops.

Anyway, not a big fan of that super-transparency, but thanks for letting me know.

I'm not sure if this is patch related, but my system crashes have increased after the patch. I rarely had one or two system crashes since i own Dragon Age while playing, but after installing the newest patch, the system crashes every few hours while playing. Nearly impossible to play longer than 3 hours without a crash...

Anyone else experience similar problems after installing the patch?

There's no guarantee of that (I'm not a BioWare employee), but I'm pretty sure they know about this. I'm going to give them a heads up though when I get a chance, just to be sure.

I'm not convinced this is patch related, since this type of issue has been reported since the game was released (I've experienced it a couple times myself with the Blood Dragon Armor, as well as a couple other items).

MoSa09: lots of reports of this. I've only had the game crash once since 1.03, but I can't attribute it to the patch since it crashed on me several times before the patches (even vanilla).

Thx Eurypterid. If there are lot's of reports of system crashes, theres good chance to hope 1.03b will fix this issue. At least i hope so, suddenly losing the good result of a tough battle cause the system crashes before you can save is no fun :pinched:

Bugs I've found since updating from 1.02a to 1.03:

- the same pick pocket bug everyone else is experiencing

- game crashing

- A Prince's Favor: The First Task prematurely updates as a failed quest when you enter the first fight in the Proving which prevents Vartag Gavorn from appearing in the Proving after the last fight.

i've got boxed version of dragon age and i'm not running into game crashes. neither while loading save games (quick or normal) or areas. also stuttering performance isn't recognizable. the only bug i encounter is the pick pocket skill.

sure it's not just steam related?
