I think on the one hand that it's great that so many people here are sharing their workarounds and such to help others.
On the other hand I think...why the he** is this necessary? EA and Bioware are not small names. I don't understand that this game has so many problems that the players end up having to fix the game for them. Maybe the people here with confirmed fixes should get part of the profits from this game. I really think it's shameful.
Maybe I am strange in that, but when I buy a game, I feel I should be able to install the game and play it...is that too much too ask?
The answer is simple. It's the PC version we are talking
about. The day when game developers gave a rip about quality PC games are long
over. Started back around when the 360 came out and porting from 360-PC became
the norm. The BIG money is in console game sales. Even though I just read a
blog that said PC gaming sales are up, and still in the billons of dollars last
year, it's still a drop in the bucket compared to console game sales. And most
of these sales mentioned where not retail/downloaded games, but games that play
in the browser. Facebook and mico transactions are where the big money is when
it comes to PC gaming.
This is really upsetting to a hardcore PC gamer like me, my last console was an
Xbox and I didn't use it much because the graphics looked like crap compared to
my PC. We need another Crysis type game
that really pushes PC hardware and shows what a PC game can do. Sadly Crytek is
making Crysis 2 for the 360 and PC. And in doing so, they have had to radically
cut back on how the new game engine renders so it can fit into the small amount
of memory the 360 has. I read that one trick they are using is to set a lot of
the action in a city so the large buildings will allow for short draw
distances. Wow, so much for “pushing the envelope” like they used to rave about
when Crysis came out. Now it’s going to be smaller levels with walls, so it can
run on the 360’s 5 year old tech.
Why should us PC gamers even care about buzz words like DX11
or even DX10 for that matter. Sure one or two game will come out with DX11, but
it will just be tacked on, like DX10 is now in most PC games. It’s a gimmick to
try and sell new hardware and to make us PC gamers think that someone really
cares about making a cutting edge game. I call BS.
Sorry for the long post, but this topic really hits a nerve
with me, and I’m sure I’m not alone here. We PC gamers are the people that made
all of these game developers money when they where starting out, only to be
kicked to the curb because of the $$ from console sale. But that’s the way the
world works so I guess it’s just the way it’s going to be.
