I want to know how people mod these skin textures into something else, like how do they do that, what program are they using, photoshop, gimp

heres a face model of sten I'm working one, and I want to edit the elf skin texture to have a mole on his right side of his eye like that trailer, I saw a skin textured edited, for leliana, she has a alittle mole on the side of her lip. And if I'm able to edit such skin textures, are there known conflicts I should know about with the toolset, when I try adding a new skin texture?

I've used photoshop with the dds plugin with no problems on a mod I'm working on for Morrigan.

where do you exact the files to edit it, I'm curious about, I really don't know much about it, can it work work with a program called gimp 2? I want to edit textures like those other folks, like be FBS skins, and stuff like that

lol like where do you get those skins, so you can edit them?

You can use gimp, but I found it easier to use photoshop.



To find the skin files you can extract them from the toolset.



File

Open File

Program Files\\Dragon Age\\packages\\core\\textures\\high

select the texturepack.erf



From here you can extract the dds files you want. For the qunari skin type you'll want both uh_hed_quna_0d.dds and uh_hed_quna_0n.dds

omg thank you so much for this, I was able to make a mole skin texture, thanks to your help. Luckliy I found a gimp dd plugin, thanks for your help again

I just started modding and am practicing on screen shots from the game, I cant seem to find the skin textures. For example in DA2 Isabela has a freckled skin. Does anyone know where to find these skin textures? Trying to create a matching skin texture in Photoshop is almost impossible...
