I opened the Tool-set out of boredom and must have screwed somthing up, although I didn't play around with anything but one save.

I tried making a new character and used my old character where both cannot exit to the world map. They can go to the world map but, Cannot travel through it. I have gone to a gate way that also allows you to travel through the world map, as for that, the map does not even show up. This rendered my game completely useless because I'm stuck in one world area. Now I have no idea what to do, patched to hope it was working then went through alot of trouble shooters to work because I'm on Vista and I still can't travel...

Please help, this is killing me.

Yeah I've run into this and I have no idea what the cause of it is.

I last opened my save yesterday in the toolset to rename my dog, which worked fine.
The game was working as it should and I could go to the world map and travel around.

Today, I opened the talents_modal.nss first as a read only file then as a local copy to have a look through.
I did tweak the file by adding a "//" before an effect line for "momentum" but then I deleted the "//" to revert it back to normal. I should have just quit the toolset but I accidentally saved the local copy. I then launched my game (Steam came up with a update process for the game but I've found no mention of a new patch on the net), when I got in I loaded my save in my Camp and found I couldn't leave it. I loaded all previous saves and I can't leave those areas or click to new areas on the world map.

I uninstalled and reinstalled the game but kept my saves thinking I may have messed up a core file but I still have this issue which leads me to believe I've somehow corrupted my save, though you mention this problem persists with a new character as well.

I have no idea what's caused this and any help would be appreciated.

I've uninstalled my game to see what's left locally to see if there's anything outside of my saves that should be deleted before reinstalling that might be overriding core files and breaking the game.

I too have this problem, I haven't saved any files in the toolset and I unistalled as soon as I spotted this problem. Getting annoyed with this!  Anybody have any suggestions? If I re-install will I lose my saves?

I found this:
Fix for strange issues with my game such as scripts not firing or party interactions not working and “Module will not load”

This
is often caused by the Dragon Age Toolset. If you have the toolset
installed and you’ve messed around with it (including beta versions),
the toolset may be overriding the scripting of the single player
experience.

BryanDerksen wrote...

A
new version and patch for the toolset should be coming out early next
week to address this. It's a sneaky subtle bug that we missed during
testing since we unfortunately weren't able to get our beta testers
full copies of the game pre-release. The problem is that the version of
the core resources that came with the toolset have different internal
ID numbers on the plot files, including the plot file that keeps track
of which followers you've got in your party, so if you export anything
that includes core resources (ie practically everything) the game will
lose track of the values stored in them. If you then save the game
those incorrect plot values wind up stored in the savegame, so simply
removing the exported resources won't fix things on their own.

There's a thread at http://social.biowar.../index/114380/2
that discusses the issue in more detail, and includes some suggestions
on how to get your party members back by editing your savegame to put
the correct values in there manually. If you have a savegame from
immediately before you first tried exporting something with the
toolset, you might also want to try that again after you've cleaned out
your override directories.

the Original Post by Brian (from Bioware)

The Fix:
1) Load toolset, go to tool > export > Empty Export Directories

2) FIND:
Windows XP: My Documents\\\\BioWare\\\\Dragon Age\\\\modules
Windows Vista: Documents\\\\Bioware\\\\Dragon Age\\\\modules
*Delete the single player folder*

3) FIND:
Windows XP: My Documents\\\\BioWare\\\\Dragon Age\\\\packages\\\\core\\\\override
Windows Vista: Documents\\\\BioWare\\\\Dragon Age\\\\packages\\\\core\\\\override
*Delete everything in this folder*

I think this may be the cause of our problem. I haven't tested the fix because I've not reinstalled the game back yet.
From what I'm reading however, it seems if you didn't delete that single player folder straight away, then every save you've loaded with that folder intact is now corrupted with those incorrect values from the toolset.

So I'm thinking you may need to do the fix and load a save you didn't load when this problem occurred, which is annoying since the natural thing to do is load previous saves when a later one doesn't work - which means in my case I may have screwed myself quite a bit back into the game story.

Like it says, you may be able to mod your save with the correct values in an attempt to fix the issue but this could be a major hassle, I'm not sure.

Will keep reporting on how it goes.

Woot! My saves all work fine again and I didn't have to do anything complicated such as messing with save data.

I uninstalled the Toolset.
I uninstalled my game.
I deleted everything in my install directory including the Override folder that has mods.
I backed up the Characters and Settings folder in Documents\\\\Bioware\\\\Dragon Age to my desktop.
I then deleted everything in Documents\\\\Bioware\\\\Dragon Age (This includes the Documents\\\\Bioware\\\\Dragon Age\\\\modules\\\\Single Player folder).

I then reinstalled the game.
I put the Characters and Settings folder back into Documents\\\\Bioware\\\\Dragon Age.
I launched the game.
I loaded a save. A message comes up about missing mods. I force load.
The game works.

Now I'll reinstall the mods to see if everything is fixed and runs fine.

I have a suspicion it's the creation of the Single Player folder that's causing this issue and it isn't required to delete everything but that. However, better to be sure.

I just encountered this problem moments ago and am glad to see that a workaround has been found while we wait for a more official toolset patch. Trying it out now. Thanks.

*UPDATE*

Worked like a charm. Easy as pie. Thanks for the tips crazyjackaljones. I didn't even do all the steps (I didn't want to delete/reinstall all my mods if I didn't have to), all I did was:

1) Load toolset, go to tool > export > Empty Export Directories

2) FIND:
Windows XP: My Documents\\\\\\\\BioWare\\\\\\\\Dragon Age\\\\\\\\modules
Windows Vista: Documents\\\\\\\\Bioware\\\\\\\\Dragon Age\\\\\\\\modules
*Delete the single player folder*

I loaded up my most recent save (one I made after 4-5 minutes of further playing after first noticing the problem in game) and I was able to go right to the travel map.

Thanks again!

Yeah.

Everytime I use the toolset now, after exiting, I delete the "modules" folder and "toolset" folder in my "documents" that the toolset creates when messing with it before launching the game.

Works like a charm as you should know.

*Bam* said the Lady!

Had the same problem, n00bed up the toolset, couldn't load new areas. Did just the above and everything was cool. ALL saves worked fine--even the ones I had loaded with "corrupted values." I suppose I should note that I uninstalled and reinstalled everything except saved games and settings before finding this fix. However I still ahd the problem after reinstalling. Then executed the above from Bryan Dersken, my f*%king hero! Then all was good.

It's because of Bryan that I can now defeat the Blight! I'll be sure to mention you at my coronation. B)

Do you see an emtpy world map or do you see world map but you cannot click on any of its location? Do not forget that you cannot use the world map from any location in the DA:O world but only when you use a location world exit or when you are in an opened location.

I don't see a world map at all the scroll opens and its a white screen with a black pattern on it, this is when using area transition points which take you to the map or pressing n to bring it up at any point.

OK. So, to solve your issue, try to click again on the world map icon (the icon showing an unroll scroll) located at the bottom the world map (not the icon located at the top of the screen). I have a similar issue in Redcliffe and simply clicking on this icon causes the normal world map to appear.

This seems to be a bug in the map display because you have in fact 3 map levels display: location map (like the building you are in), area map (like the city where this building is located) and world map (which show the complete world). Sometimes, instead of displaying the world map, DA:O show the area map where none exists, hence the blank display. Fortunately, this issue can be easily resolved as you have noticed.
