How do you obtain this gun? Do you find it somewhere or research it?
It gets delivered the same way the Eviscerator did. Email, and it's there in the armoury.
I love this gun. It's like the unholy lovechild of a Railgun and Chain Lightning. It's already displaced the Missile Launcher as my standby Heavy Weapon.

The missile launcher???
Ah yes, "heavy weapon". We have dismissed that claim

- One shot of cain against the 3 YMIR mechs in only 2 walkthroughs
N7: Eclipse Smuggling Depot is one of the hardest fight for me without heavy weapon. The other really hard mission is the Varens mission on The Quarian Crash Site on Insanity but no Heavy Weapon are used there.
- One shot of cain vs the final boss in 2 walkthroughs to end the fight.
- Some Collector Particle Beam when i want to spare ammo and finish some barrier boss...
- One shot of M-490 Blackstorm during one walkthrough when i tried to close a door during Archangel recruit mission.
But i like the idea of more heavy weapons and i will play with them more and the Arc Projector without a doubt with an adept when i will start my walkthrough with her.

Yeah yeah, so it doesn't do that much damage per shot, I know. I just like it's rate of fire and the fact I don't really have to aim it

I use All the guns they release they are a majorllinsane1ll wrote...
But still... even though it's free... Wtf is the point of making heavy weapons? This kind of an excuse to just bring out dozens of 'DLC' for the CN? I hope they spend their time and effort making gameplay DLC and stop wasting time and effort on heavy weapons, which I'm sure most people don't use anyways.
dlc imo because the story is pretty much rock solid and doesn't need much more padding New guns add fun new toys to play with and when the game was release it sadly didn't have many weapons, they need to release some SMGs and Hand guns
Also so more N7 armor parts would rock I would trade all the DLC armors for more N7 Parts

Is it really that hard to make proper DLC that fits seamlessly into the game? Really? Is it really -that- complicated to just make it researchable after certain parameters have been achieved, instead?

It's very effective against shields, what I didn't like was the way it shoots. I was expecting a stream of electric energy much like the flamethrower, this weapon charges up and then releases a short zap.(unless I'm doing it wrong)

This is going to be the weapon of choice for adepts and vanguards for a long time. It's amazing.

This. I tried it, and from short experimenting it seems to be like the previous shotgun, overpowered for simply being added to armory. This gun should be researchable between Avalanche and Cain, and should cost almost as much resources as Cain. Or make it like the flamethower, acquirable during a mission. Powerful weapons are good, but you should have to work to get them.
This just reinforces my opinion, that BioWare's games are great, but their DLC's suck. I hope Hammerhead is an exception, though. And if it was developed alongside the main game, it just might be, like Shale.

So what’s next, something like the BFG 9000 from Doom? The Halo energy sword? Kids Next Door 2x4 Technology weapons like the T.H.U.M.P.E.R (Teddy Hurling Ultra Microwave Powered Ejection Rifle)?
This Arc Projector thing feels like a weapon I know but just cant put my finger on from where. Or maybe it was from Raiders of the Lost Ark where they open up the ark at the end and everyone gets zapped?
As much as I like free stuff there comes a point where you have to ask; Did we really need another heavy weapon? I feel like I’m packing more heavy weapons than some countries have for their armies. Why no new armor or other weapons to balance the game out a little? The Cerberus Assault Armor and Eviscerator Shotgun was a step in the right direction even if the armor had no customization options like color and patterns or the lack of an optional helmet. Hopefully any new armor will utilize that customization feature that we can only use for the N7 armor (maybe some new patterns some day?) and any new weapons (no more heavies please) will be just as cool as this Arc gun.

I would imagine it's about as hard as trying to please people on this forum. 'Waaaahhh the free stuff you've given me isn't exactly what I wanted'.
Consider what you've said, there. Researchable. Do you really think that only allowing you to have it after spending a couple of k of iridium is going to make that much difference?

I fail to see how that makes it fit in more seamlessly. Would Zaeed have fit in more seamlessly if you had to sidetrack from your mission to recruit him in some faraway planet, just as you were sidetracked 4 times before for the other guys (excluding Legion, Miranda and Jacob)?
what kind of seamless implementation would be deemed satisfactory? The Arc Projector being something invented by Cerberus Operative Bob who was secretly collaborating with the Collectors, hence an entire side mission where you fight Collectors on Ferris Fields armed with arc projectors, after which you pick up one from a dead collector?
It's a weapon for christ's sake. The Cain didn't get an elaborate backstory, nor the Avalanche, nor the omni tool upgrade that you purchase for Mordin.
And frankly if I had to probe another 10 planets just to get enough WTF-ium to research the Arc Gun, I'd stick to my collector beam. Imposing research prerequisites upon the weapon does about as much good for the overall quality of the game as adding 5 more Vorcha to fight when you recruit Mordin just so his mission seems to play out longer.

-install DLC
-start any save
-extra gun for free (you don't even need to read message)
There is no actual integration with rest of the game, just free item when you activate it. This ruins RPG immersion, where you need to work to get better gear either by questing or by buying the thing, not getting it for free (from the moment you get the Normandy, if you start new game).
It's like Blood Dragon Armor in DAO. Why bother searching for Juggernaut Armor from game when you get best armor at start from DLC free of charge.

I've been trying to follow your thought process, but I still can't. The gun is shipped to the Normandy by Cerberus and is in the armoury. The private message you get from Cerberus tells you as much ... 'we've been researching this beast new weapon ... might help you save the galaxy .. have fun storming the castle.'
What more do you need? Why would I need to work to get better gear? I'm working with one of the most powerful/rich organizations in existence. They just handed me the keys to a giant, horking state-of-the-art spaceship for free. For immersion, the fact that I need to mine my own resources is ridiculous. I'm here trying to save every man, woman and child in the galaxy and Cerberus can't ship me the raw materials I need to do my own on-board research?
For immersion, I expect them to be working as hard (if not harder) at creating/getting ready gear that I can use to kick the Collector's collective butts. The resources of the entire organization should be at my fingertips. I should be getting drop-shipped gear like James Bond getting packages from Q.

Wasn't that the reason why they nerfed the blood dragon armour to the point of implosion?
I've never understood why people get their knickers in a twist about powerful DLC gear. If you feel it's too powerful, don't use it. And as powerful as it is, I'm not sure anyone can claim the Arc Projector 'op'.
