orginally got the game in a box awhile ago and cannot get it to install on my new computer. Just says installation failed at random points throughout the installation process. Can I download the game from like the EA store and not buy it again using my key from my box version?

Yes, you can activate your CD Key at https://activate.ea.com/ and then you will be able to download it via the EA Download Manager.
