So it looks like my disk went kaput, I put it in, it does a half spin and I get the "please insert disk" command. Do I have to purchase a new copy of the Collectors Edition to play or will my saves etc still work with a regular disk? Better yet, since I registered with EA, would I be better off just uninstalling, d'loading for free from EA and re-installing? Help please!

All your saves should work with any version of the game, regular, collectors, digital, etc...
If you prefer a disk check, just get the regular version of the game.
If you don't mind DRM, you can download it from free from EA.

Wow, this is very odd, picked up another copy of DA today and that disk doesn't work either. Mass Effect 2 works, CD's and other DVD's as well. Is there a possible issue with DA disks and LG Blue-Ray/DVD drives?

Is it possible that the disk is failing the disk check? Any kind of software that would prevent this? (I use Utorrent to d'load fan made Nine Inch Nails DVD's and recently uninstalled it when I ran into the DA disk issue)
