It is the future, you are going to see a lot of mixes. Not surprising seeing as our gene pool has gotten more diverse over the years.
That isn't necessarily true. Places like Asia Africa and Europe aren't going to see much genetic convergence.
Europe is..
Not enough for generations to be completely mixed. I should have said all places, I cut what I was originally going to say in half.

Admiral Kahoku
Kahoku is more Polynesian than Asian. The guy looks like he has a Pacific tan.
In my post, I said that the list included those that are likely to be part-asian as well.
So, that admit you could be wrong. Kahoku's not Asian dude. Not a lot East Asians are that (naturally) tanned.
Are you claiming that south-east asians are NOT asian???
Also, the guy's name is obviously of asian origin. Skin tone doesn't really mean much anymore when determining someone's origin, and I'm sure it will be even more true in the future.

If you don't see your racial group in ME you should count your blessings. I'm Arab and I am stuck with Khalisah Al-Jilani and Zaeed to represent, and they both can be punched by Shep.

I'm south-east Asian and we're also not that bulky of a people.
Kahoku is not a (common) Southeast Asian name. The guy's not named Nguyen or Macapagal.

You're an expert on future history, now? Simple changes in socio-economic situation in various areas could seriously kick forward immigration and other population mobility that in turn encourages intermarriage. For example, it's implied in the novels that the United States is no longer a single political entity, Texas is a third world country, and India is super-rich.Not enough for generations to be completely mixed. I should have said all places, I cut what I was originally going to say in half.

No, I'm not admitting that I'm wrong in any sense of the imagination. I said that he could be part asian.

Genetic and population migration trends are what I look at. Future history doesn't exist, its more or less projections under what may happen and there are some who believe that the Earth will become overpopulated and that global infrastructure will collapse which would make both of our points irrelevant.

Yeah because all Southeast Asians are Filipino... Give me a break. I grew up in Southeast Asia and there are people of all sorts of names - including names that don't seem too far from Kahoku.

As a 100% Chinese (Hong Kong)...who gives a ****?
Agreed, a chinese buddy of mine just picked up mass effect 2 he has yet to complain about a lack of asian representation in the game.
The fact of the matter is, most of these idiots that make these threads about bioware being racist, or certain ethnicities being under represented, are idiots that dont realize the game was made in North America, save for certain localized areas, on a whole you wont see an even mix of asians, whites, blacks, latinos, indians, arabs etc. etc. etc. The fact is most people you are going to see are white, and thats just the way it is. I think the way all ethnicities in ME are represented are typical of north america.
Sure they could have taken into account other countries around the world, and equally represented them all, but the devs went with what they were used to, so the **** what.
In the end you can make shepard what ever the hell ethnicity you want him/her to be so who the hell cares.

Heck, I new a kid from guam born and raised, with the last name blackwell. We went to basic training together in the Army, it was the first time he had ever been to mainland USA.

I don't think there would be alot more mixing in ME than it would in the real world.
But I don't really care, perhaps because I'm represented...Wait. No? Give me more Vikings Bioware!
...
Nah. not really. I'm more concerned with the lack of Hanar.

Space Vikings! Just imagine, sailing into the Citadel on space longships, sails roiling in the imaginary wind... swords and axes at the ready...glorious.
Daydreaming aside, I'm curious as to what is meant by 'Asians' in this post. Do you literally mean the entire continent? It just always strikes me as weird when someone says that - like referring to anyone from Europe or North America as a 'westerner'. T'is odd that all that variety can be subsumed under such a misleading term. But, as people have already said, it doesn't matter all that much. If we're talking about national contingents in the Alliance army/navy however, then space Samurai is an entirely different matter all together...

PS I like a sense of realism in the game, Bioware didn't impress in that regard.

That's pretty harsh, though, hehe. At least it was a memorable part..?
That said.... I'm Mexican, and I don't honestly even remember whether there were any "Sanchez"'s or "Garcia"'s or any other hispanic names floating around. That is, any other than Vido Santiago, the murderous (and possibly dead) merc leader who only shows up in DLC.
Ah well, whatever. Nothing to get sensitive over.
