Faithfulness will be rewarded.

Heh, one of my Sheps had an "incident" with Jack down in engineering and didn't romance anyone. Still got the scene where Shep looks at Ashley's picture.

I wonder if we'll get any rewards for staying "faithful" to our ME2 LIs by romancing only them.

Relationships entered into in ME2 carry over into ME3. Except maybe Thane's, since his is the tragic romance.

Just like in real life there will be no consequence for cheating.

there will be none because I will tell Liara to screw off and not join my team in ME3 for having been such a **** in ME2 and for choosing avenging Feron over being with me on a mission that could have VERY well been my last

Anyone care to speculate on what kind of cosequences cheating on your LI will have? A few people seem to want drastic ones, but I hope it's limited to being forced to choose and extra dialogue. It is ridiculously hard to stay single in ME1 without metagaming. I'd hate to lose Miranda or Garrus because the game thinks I romanced Ashley or Kaidan when I didn't.

Best course of action if you want to be absolutely safe would be to replay ME1 and not talk to characters your gender can romance. I'd suggest doing this a couple months before ME3 is released.

What I personally want is one or both of the characters that you were romanced to be upset. Either the ME1 romance walks away from you or you can choose which romance interest you want.

Also, related poll

I imagine it will be like KOTOR2 (restored content version), where Atton/Brianna turns to the dark side and attacks Mical/Visas. Given how subtle and insidious Reaper indoctrination can be, a Reaper could easily play on the jilted LI's anger and resentment at your current LI.

Wow after reading this I'm starting to think Liara is the psycho chick, not Jack!

People seem to be mostly concerned with a confrontation between LIs, but what happens if your ME1 LI was Ashley and you stay faithful? Like someone said, to Shepard he was with Ashley the previous day, then he wakes back up. It wasn't two years to him. That's what he was like "Hey Ash, what's up?" So do we get some kind of benefit for sticking with her?

I imagine that staying faithful would avoid the trouble caused by infidelity. More than that, I doubt.

Honestly, for me, having a LI in ME1 wasn't even my choice.  Because I'm a Paragon, and such a nice guy, I didn't have the stomach to be rude to Ash simply in order to turn down romance.  In fact, in places where Shepard could flirt with Ash, I decidedly chose not to flirt with her.  Then on lock down, because I'm not a jerk, I don't let loose at Ash for trying to console me.  Ash came onto me, not the other way around. <_<

Yea, eventually you get locked into the Ashley romance. There's a point where she asks if you're still interested, and all 3 answers say yes in 3 different ways. ME2 had the right idea where you always had the chance to reject them or stop the romance.

My point is that Tali's enthusiasm in ME1 is not indicative of her interest in Shepard b/c she reacts the same to both male and female Shepard.   Tali was not intended as a romance interest at that time, so I believe you are reading too much into it.  Tali's just an enthusiastic gal.

You're free to interpret it how you want though.

I have to disagree with you, to a degree. When you pursue the romance with Tali she makes it clear that she was attracted to you on some level over the course of the first game. When you give her the geth data and if you tell her that you'll miss her when she's gone she has a very strong reaction to it. It's clear that in the first game by the end she had some strong feelings about Shepard... if you were a guy she had romantic feelings, and if you were a woman maybe it was just a strong bond betweem. Sisterhood or something.

I want to see Ash and Tali throw down. Because, honestly, after her zero-to-**** in under five seconds stunt on Horizon, I want to see Ash get her ass stomped.

And yes, I do think Tali is perfectly capable of doing it.

My guess is, you'll get an email at your private terminal.

I still think it's absurd that after two years of not seeing this character, for Shepard to move on is somehow "cheating".

Even worse is that it's two years after a one night stand. Posted Image

I would like the two LI's to challenge each other a f@ck off. Shep's the judge. Alright LI's, let's see what you've got.

I think there should be a believable consequence... not just "Oh well... okay choose him/her or me..." or just "I'm out!"... I want Drama... I want tears... I want something believeable!

And it surely was not just a ONS... guess what you all did between the Night before Ilos and the destruction of the Normandy... that wasn't just "Oh well you just defeated everything now go into that system" and *POOF*...

Read your private emails, Ashley refers to  "Our Special Night". Yeah, that pretty much equals one nighter. Sorry.

My canon Ash has nothing to worry about, but the ash in the universe where I cheated on her with Tali, that should be hilarious.

Not really... "Special night" can mean everything... while including a ONS... it can mean just that she appreciates the first night... where they not only got together but Shepard showed her the special N7 Training ;)

She can easily just evolved a romantic side ;)

Really, if a girl that I schtupped once and held hands with a bunch of times 2 years ago got all crabby with me because I was with or had been with somebody else recently, I'd file a restraining order...

No, they could actually be together that night because they were basically throwing caution to the wind. They weren't actively going around telling everyone they're seeing each other because they would have gotten in trouble with the alliance. They probably kept in on the down low afterwards. So ya, they might have had only one special night together but she also tells you that she loves you. I'm sure she didn't fall in love with you after a one night stand.

I admire your optimism. Seriously though, the only way to handle the situation is to get to Ash and Miranda drunk enough that they think they're in college again.
