Nightmare Solo Runs: Your Experiences

I did a bloodmage solorun which was more or less spamming the right spell combinations to survive, but it was a very fun run and it really felt like you rained down destruction on anything that crossed your path, but if one cc didn't go off right or something else went wrong it was a quick trip to death and a reload. I especially had problems with elite or boss ogres spamming ram all the time since the cc's last such a short while on nightmare.
Rogue melee solo was also fun, but combat stealth really was a must here, can't imagine doing it without. Lategame though, the damage and defense got so high that if you took out casters quickly, the rest were just fodder.

If you are interested in such a challenge, check out the No Reload Challenge thread in the Official Campaign and Storyline forum. Anecdotes and progress reports from various players will be posted there regularly.
I am currently running a no reload duo game , involving two rogues: myself and Lelianna. If that is successful, I will then attempt a no reload solo game. But very careful strategies will have to be worked out for all the bosses and certain encounters, because failure (death) is not an option.

In most solo Nightmare games the PC does not stay alive all the time. He/she tends to die A LOT. Immortality is a result of the reload button. Some boss fights may take 10-15 reloads before you get lucky and win. The real challenge would be to try a solo "no reload" game in Nightmare. I dont think anyone has achieved that yet. (Correct me if I am wrong.)

Sounds exciting, might have a go at that. Would take ranged rogue ranger with combat stealth and see how it goes, that sounds like the safest. Although mage with a summon might be good, havn't tried that out much yet.
Reminds me a bit of the old diablo II hardcore mode where your char also would die for good, which could lead to a bit of a downer if he was well equipped and high level. Nothing beats the excitement though

Depends on what you consider "A LOT", in my last solo no-healing game, I must have reloaded maybe 10-15 times total, the entire game. I one-shot most bosses. I know I reloaded a couple of times on the Witherfang fight, but I always do it the hardest way and kill Zathrian too which makes it a very long fight, and Uldred. I made a mistake and got caught in a chain-ram from the Sloth demon once I think, so that took one reload. I died a couple of times to the dragons, trying out different strats etc. If I allowed myself to use potions, it could have easily become a "no-reload" game. You'd just have to prioritize getting Spellward over anything else, so as not to get caught in an unlucky Crushing Prison. It doesn't really interest me though.
