No, this is not just speculation or (ah, yes) "logic" Gameinformer, a gaming magazine, for those of you who don't know. Had an interview with Casey Hudson in their latest issue. And he had this little nugget of knowledge to share--

Q: Certain party members from the first game can be recruited in Mass Effect 2. Does that mean we'll see characters from this game make a return in ME3?
A: You will definitely be able to see Characters from Mass Effect 2 in Mass Effect 3, as long as they're alive in the end of your story. It's a challenge for sure, but it's also going to be a huge payoff for players of the Mass Effect trilogy to see what happens with all these characters and storylines started by the first two games.

And remember, this isn't just some PR rep., this is the project director. He knows what he's talking about.
Also remember that it would cost more money to make all of the squadmates into cameos, since video game VA commisions are done by project, not by the amount of hours. Everybody will most likely be a squadmate.

Now here's hoping they're recruitable.

If Miri became a cameo, Yvonne would not do the part, same as some other VOs.

"See" is different from "have in your party". I'm still pretty convinced that some of them will just be delegated into cameos.

If Miri became a cameo, Yvonne would not do the part, same as some other
VOs.

There is such a concept in entertainment business as "contracts". The voice actors have written contracts that demand them to perform in whatever capacity necessary for all the games they've signed for. You can bet that Bioware had them sign for the entire remaining trilogy before hiring them.

I don't think anybody thought any different. We all know that ME2's squad mates will appear in ME3 at least as (and probably as) cameos

I would guess that they'll put in the effort for super popular fan favorites like Tali and Garrus, but unpopular characters like Jacob are going to be cameos.

You do know Yvonne is an actress right? For a popular TV show I mind you. She would not aggre to a cameo. Also do you know she signed one? There is nothing that says that and if you know her, you know she would not take the time to do a little cameo. It would cost alot of money.

If one LI is recruitable, they all are (except maybe Thane, unless that DLC comes)

Which they will, Mirianda, Tali and Garrus have huge fan bases. Not adding them as a squadmate would do alot of harm. If they do, then they have to add Jack, Thane and Jacob or people will start complaning about Bioware playing favs.

So, you're saying that Thane and Jack don't have large fan bases?
Last time I checked, Thane's Love Group was huge and a lot of people prefer Jack over Miranda

Thane is actually one of the people I see being most likely to get cut, considering that regardless of the suicide mission's outcome he's got a storyline justification to be dead depending on how far apart ME2 and ME3 are.

We are not starting a fan base war here Cain, and judging by group numbers, and post it shows that Tali, Garrus and Mirianda have the biggest fanbase. Thane is huge I give it that, but if he gets cured, then what? Thats one of the things that I love about the character. Curing him would kinda ruin his character.

As I said if they add Tali, Garrus or Miri, then they have to add all the other LI because if not then hell will break lose here. Also don't start a fanbase argument Cain, theres no point.

Yeah. Especially the way he mentioned how it will be hard to implement, but worth the effort, definitely implies that they will be recruitable and not cameos like Kaiden, Ashley, Anderson, Udina, Shiala, Conrad and Gianni. Where their cameos could easily be in or out or interchangeable like Ashley/Kaiden.

I think fan bases are not a very important criterion anyway (I doubt Oghren was the most popular DA:O character...and he returns in Awakening; not Alistair, Leliana or Morrigan)

I don't really care for the new ME2 squad mates. So long as I can have my SR-1 team back (Garrus, Tali and Liara) I'll be one happy Spectre. :)

Oh I love Yvonne. Not so much for her role in Chuck (that show is lame tbh) but for all her work down under.

Some will probably be put into cameos, like Samara, Zaeed, Jack, and probably Mordin. Miranda has no where to go now that she dropped out of Cerberus, Tali is like Sheppard's little puppy, she follows him everywhere, Garrus has been there since the beginning, and Thane is a really interesting character that I'm sure everyone wants to learn more about. Grunt is kind of a wildcard. I think he'll still be a part of the team though, mainly because Sheppard is his battle master.

Well it makes sense for Oghren since he can not be killed. All the other characters can be killed or leave for good (Morrigan)

he said we would "be able to see characters" with the condition "as long as they're alive in the end". He did not say that every ME2 squadie will be in ME3. It is speculation to assume he meant that, atleast from the quote you provided.

You know what happens when we assume...;)

Yeah, this is the same person who said you could continue the romance with the ME1 LIs in ME2 as the "troubled second act".

Guess he must have got "troubled" and "absent" mixed up.

Like its been said, we already knew they would be in ME3 if they survived. The question is, is it for a crap 10 minute (if youre lucky) cameo like the ME1 squadmates got?

romances =/ squadmate status

Wrex was probably the most popular ME1 squadmate. He can die=cameo land (fan base or not)

Tali and Garrus where, so your logic is flawed.
