Eamon was only supposed to be 15 when the rebellion succeeded?
No, I don't doubt your word, Skadi, I'm just amazed that I missed that - somehow.
Wynne's concept art is great. I'd even let her berate my PC, just so I could stare at her and be amazed.

Around that age, Sabriana, yes. He is Rowan's younger brother, and at the beginning of Stolen Throne, Loghain, Maric and Rowan are around 18 years of age. It is mentioned that Eamon is younger, I think once, Rowan even muses he's around 15 or so towards the end of the book. Eamon and Teagan were off in the Free marches during much of the rebellion because they were little kids.

Agreed on Wynne. Concept art fits more the image of an older, bitter matron with a somewhat wild past who indeed might enjoy some of Oggy's ale every now and then. It fits the image of old and wizened, yet well kept and youthful in appearance.

Oh my, I still can't believe I missed that, thanks Skadi. Perhaps because Eamon looks way, way older than 45 in-game. Loghain looks like a spring chicken compared to Eamon.

Personally, I blame Isolde.

The Eamon-Loghain comparison in the game does seem a bit skewed, given that Eamon is younger. Loghain also says "you fought with us, Eamon" when that is not really true. He probably just means it in the larger sense, that Eamon's family were leaders in the rebellion.

Wynne is 55 years old (as listed in the toolset). She goes on about her age because she's at least 2 decades older than anyone else in the party (unless you get Loghain) and because she feels old. While she's done traveling, the majority of her time was previously spent in the tower.

Now, she goes on what is essentially a yearlong camping trip where she walks and battles everyday and spends most of her nights sleeping on the ground. That's a much heavier toll on the body for a 50 year old than someone in their twenties.

Thanks Maria. 55 is not old. Well, not to me anyway. Is Loghain the same age as Wynne? Loghain looks like he is in his 40s.

Interesting, I would have pegged her to be late 60's.  She looks about my mom's age and she'll be 68 in a couple months.  If she magically "adjusted" her appearance, she must have looked hideously old before.

That's it exactly. Image IPB Must be hard dealing with her. I personally hated her screaming, Teeaagan. Speaking of, Isolde looks pretty old too.

Back on topic, I wonder how old Morrigan and the PC are? Morrigan seems older.

I believe Morrigan is in her late 20s. The PC? Depends on origins and player RP.

I think the PC age depends on the Origin, unless all six possible recruits (seven if you count elf/human mage) were all coincidentally, say, 23.

The PC's age is not established by the game.  Some origins restrict it somewhat (it wouldn't make sense for the City Elf to be much past 20), but others could reasonably be quite high (the Dwarf Noble could be in his 50s).

Although if he were in his fifties, it wouldn't make sense for him to be just recieving his first command if everyone really loves him so much, not to mention Bhelen can't be that much younger and two years prior to returning to Orzammar (which would be maybe a year before the Origin), he was still considered a child. At the very oldest, I think the Dwarf Noble would have to be early thirties, probaly middle-to-late twenties.

That has to be it. If I had that annoying voice screaming "TEAGAAAAN!" in my ear every night, I'd tack on about 10-20 years to my looks too. Loghain held it together much better, for certain. Maybe because he isn't into Orlesian child brides.

As far as PC ages go, I have my own estimates, as well as NPC ages.

Human noble-18-20
Mage-17-19 (for some reason, this origin always struck me as the "youngest")
City Elf-20-25
Dalish Elf- 22-27
Dwarf Noble-25-30
Dwarf Commoner-20-25
Alistair-20-23
Morrigan-27-30
Zevran-25-27
Leliana-25-27
Oghren-35-40
Sten-35-40
Wynne-60-65
Loghain-50-52
Shale (when she was a dwarf) 30-35

It's possible to keep dark hair into your fifties. I'm 43 this summer and you have to get up pretty close before you can see my few greys. Conversely, I have a friend who started going grey at 15 and was almost completely grey before he turned 30.

Wynne does have lines - she certainly looks considerably older than I do - but what happens to people once they get past 40 is they start to lose firmness in the lower face. You don't often see that in games and animation, probably for aesthetic reasons (it was really noticeable to me in the Beowulf movie that his wife just got greyer and slightly more lined towards the end of the film but her face remained completely firm. Wynne reminds me of that - as I said, she looks like a 60 year old with a really good surgeon).

Of course, photoageing is responsible for most of the skin's ageing effects, so if Wynne has been stuck inside the tower, she'll have held up rather better than someone who has been out in the sun a lot. It might explain Zevran's furrowed brow, given his tan...

Nothing really explains Eamon though. I thought he was about 55 or 60. Beards do age a man, though...especially when they are grey and bushy.

The King (the Dwarf Noble PC's father) is old enough to die credibly, and people do clearly live to old age in Ferelden.

Males can remain virile into their 70s.  There's no reason why there couldn't be an age gap of 20+ years between Bhelen and his brother.

Reconciling the PC's first command, given how well respected he is, is more difficult.  Unless that respect is recently earned.

I agree, Skadi and Alexa. That voice is enough to scrape the collagen right off anyone. Hearing: "Teaaghaaan. who iis dis womaan?" ages me and my PC simultaneously.

My HNF are all between 25 and 27. Bryce has to be in his 50s, because he fought with Maric, and I do believe so did Eleanor (I used to be quite the Battle-maiden). Plus, they look to be close age-wise

The DE has passed the rite of maturity, so she is around 23 to 24.

The CE, well, that really depends on the RPing. She could have fought off being married (making her older), or she could have agreed to tradition.

The DN is Bhelen's older sibling, so I would put her around 27 to 30

The DC is quite the youngest, I think. I would put her at 18 to 23.

Human noble-18-20

Me i would give the human noble more like 22-24 at the beginning and around 25-27  at the end.Seing that fergus it's your older brother and he has a 7-8 years old son..Fergus seem to be past 30.

Mage-17-19 (for some reason, this origin always struck me as the "youngest")
Debatable .. The mage could by any age really. Jowan seem to be around  25 years old though.

City Elf-20-25
Cyrion seem to be well over 50's .. Hard to tell also .. Because you live in the alienage and elve tend to keep themself together. But that seem right.

Dalish Elf- 22-27
Not much idea

Dwarf Noble-25-30
30-35 seem more reasonable for me.You're the second born . It's hard to tell with all those big beard.
Dwarf Commoner-20-25
Yup
Alistair-20-23
I doubt he's 20 . More like 25-30 in my book .
Morrigan-27-30
Yup
Zevran-25-27
He seem to have way too much experience to be 20 years old. But he was with the crow since birth.Hard to tell.
Leliana-25-27
Yup
Oghren-35-40
40-50's for me
Sten-35-40
40's for me .. Hard to tell .. Because haven't seen in Qunari with brown hair but he seem quite old in the vannila version.I don,t either either you can archeive the rank sten very quick.
Wynne-60-65
Yup
Loghain-50-52
Probably
Shale (when she was a dwarf) 30-35
ah bon

Poor Isolde, just the fact that she's Orlesian is enough to make her voice unbearable. At least her accent wasn't as thick as Marjorline's but it's not nearly as tolerable as Leliana's and that is really bizarre as Isolde has been in Ferelden longer.

Though, really, I think she screeches "EAMOOOOOON!" in his ear more often.

The DC is quite the youngest, I think. I would put her at 18 to 23.

Yeah, the DC really can't be very old because they are younger than Rica, who no one seems to think might be barren due to not getting pregnant yet (and Anora could apparently be barren at less than thirty).

Your character is the age you want them to be, within reason (obviously it doesn't make sense to have a character in their 50s, even if you can make a character who looks older even than that). I wouldn't get too hung up on it.

I'd put Wynne right about 60, both from how she looks and her personality/what she says about herself.

Zev is about 25 at the oldest I'd say.

Alistair is a bit younger than Zev, about 21/22

Morrigan is probably about the same age as Zev, maybe a year or two younger

I'd put Leliana about the same age as Zev

Oghren is probably late 30's

Sten I'd say is around 40ish

Well, I put Zevran approaching the 30 hurdle quickly, or being over it. The way I RP him, he's around 29 to 32. He looks a bit older, because of the lines in his face, but being a tortured and abused slave all your life will do that to a person.

Leliana is also getting up there, but her life wasn't all sitting rooms and pleasure either.

Morrigan is in her high 20's, Alistair in his very early 20's, or else he would have taken his vows. Oghren is around 40+ and so is Sten. At least in my games. And so they shall remain.

@suprez: I think the human noble leaves alot of room for adjustments, depending on how you play. Since people married pretty young back then, and aged a little quicker, one has a bit of leway determining ages. Late teens to mid-20's sounds right. I put Fergus as roughly around 25-30. He could have gotten married pretty young. Bryce and Elanor are both probably in their late 40's-early 50's.

Zevran always struck me as being mid to late 20's. He has had a hard, fast life, being trained as an assassin since age 7, and being raised by ****s and assassins is likely to strip you of any childhood moments. Hence, his wealth of experience that seems to age him alot. But something about him makes me think he hasn't quite hit 30 yet.

I think all qunari have white hair naturally, so I don't think hair color will be much of a determination on Sten's age. Since we know little of qunari biology and culture, Sten strikes me as someone in his prime, hence mid 30's guestimate.

Mage is debatable. Though I guessed it as quite young, given that the harrowing is usually given as a rite of passage into adulthood for most mages, and from talks in the tower during the origin, I get the impression the mage is exceptional and has progressed faster than his/her peers. Jowan is probably older, though he even says he's been at the tower a year or two longer. I guessed his age to be around 20-23, he just didn't strike me as very old mentally.

I can see the age of the PC from any origin except DN to be under 18. I would not go as far as being younger than 14-15, but 16-17 does sound plausible in my opinion, especially for the CE and DC origins. As for the companions, in my opinion:

Alistair:23-25

Zevran: 28-34

Morrigan: 24

Leliana: 28

Shale: centuries

Sten: hard to tell, could be 35-45

Oghren: 37

Wynne:66

Dog: 4

Loghain:56

Thanks Maria. 55 is not old. Well, not to me anyway. Is Loghain the same age as Wynne? Loghain looks like he is in his 40s.

Its hard to tell how old Loghain is, he was a few years older than Maric so he could be Alistair's grandpa, also I don't like how Loghain is older than Eamon by 10 year and Eamon looks oike he could be Loghains' dad.

Yes that's crazy. I wondered how old Eamon was myself. He looks like he could be Teagans father. I think spelled Teagan right.Image IPB

I've put Zevran at mid-twenties before, and I don't think he's any older. Sometimes when I see him in the game, I think he could even be early twenties. Up close you see more of the lines in his face, though. I think he seems older because of the life he's lived.

I put both Alistair and Morrigan as 18-20. PC I put in the same age range. Many people still refer to all three as "boy" or "girl."
