My favourite moments were:

The human noble origin quest – by far the best of the origin stories, loved how well it connected to the whole Loghain’s betrayal plot and motivated you even more to take your vengeance on Loghain and Howe.

Leliana – the most interesting NPC, I like to call her ‘human-TV’ since she’s the character that kept you entertained in the party camp with her tales and (unfortunately only one) song. I imagine that she kept the party entertained throughout their travels. Her background story wasn’t that great, but still I missed her in Awakening and spent the first two hours in the expansion looking for her ;D And of course, the romance was well-written but had some more potential and was a tad too short. I would love to see some more singing in Bioware games, I even enjoyed Mordin’s performance in ME2;D.

Finishing moves – nothing as satisfying as seeing your character utterly destroying your enemies, not only the animations after you kill a dragon or an ogre, but also when killing some of the more ordinary enemies.

Battle of Ostagar – the cutscene is very memorable in itself, I loved that you could see the battle down below and the various projectiles flying around when you crossed the bridge (reminded me of Saradush in Throne of Bhaal).

Commanding troops during the battle in Denerim – I know it wasn’t much of a command, but it felt good to know that you’re the one in charge.

Killing darkspawn with one hit – even though it probably wouldn’t be fun in the long run it made me feel like the badass Gray Warden from the trailers.

Interactions between party members – pretty much all of them were fun.

The dog – it was nice to have a party member who followed you with unwavering loyalty (not that I would want all of them to be like that).

my favourite moments is the conversations between Alistair & Wynne about where babies come from...the first time i heard the conversations between my companions(whom suposed to be silent)was a surprise,a good one in fact,as these conversations turned out to be very funny, can u imagine Sten stealing Cookies from a fat child or playing with a kitten???softie...

learning about Alistair's father was a surprise, though i saw the similarities between Cailan & him,but thought of it as a concidence,it's not...

Killing flemeth, wow THAT was tough, since i was in romance with Morrigan i wanted her approval(she gave me a ring, a kiss & hellof night),but i would love to see what would happen if she survived.

The Ancient ritual revealation,Morrigan giving u a choice of surviving the final blow & be a hero or die & join the four former wadrens,wow....& when u r about to strike,Alistair i willing to do it,can't let him die now...or sacrificing himself to save his love(a female warden) & that final kiss....heartbreaking...

so many moments...thanx Bioware

Obviously the scenes of redemption are very powerful Zevrahns story the way it unfolded was very powerful the way he would let things slip about his life, his early childhood in the ****house, the torturing done by the crows. Morrigan was also a character whose story touched me deeply especiallyy when she became my PC's friend and called her a sister. Loghain when spared making the US was also a very powerful moment for my characters. By contrast Alistair's fall into darkness was utterly heartbreaking In my mind everytime he runs off to become a drunk my character heads out to find him and bring him back to his senses

The part of the game that stood out to me most was the scene at the gates Oghren, Zevrahn and even leilani have some very dramatic and tear inducing lines of dialogue. Zevs "For you I would storm the gates of the dark city itself to fight at your side." I play the game repeatedly with the intent to hear this line over and over, it keeps my PC's pushing through Orzamaar the shadows give me migraines so it is the hardest part of the game for me.

Standout moments...

1. The City Elf origin, as a female. I thought it was done very well, and
tastefully as well. I also liked the fact that although Shanni is without
a doubt momentarily destroyed, she still comes back to be a strong leader in
her community during the Darkspawn invasion and beyond. She was no doubt my
favorite NPC!

2. The Darkspawn invasion in the Alienage... standing along side my character's
friends and family in the darkness, waiting for the Ogre to break through, and
then successfully defending my hometown was a really cool moment. In fact, I liked
it better than defeating the actual dragon!

3. The spiders fighting the darkspawn in The Deep Roads... very cool visually,
and I had to stop and think if I wanted to attack (and which side?)
or just let them kill each other!

4. I loved the fact that you never knew for sure if the Maker existed or
not. It allowed for a whole new character dimension, which you don't get in
most fantasy RPG's. I hope that this continues to be blurry for the next
games.

5. The Broadmother and the poem and story leading up to it, of course. I was
totally shocked at Branka's true character, and thought it was great.

6. The Alistair romance, esp. the beginning flirtations and trying to persuade
him to sleep with me. And the fighting between him and Morrigan! My character
was quite in love ;)

7. Leiliana saying that "In Orlais, elves are prized servants."
thinking it was a compliment, when in reality it was "benevolent"
racism. Overall, I thought Leili's character was very well done.

8. Trying to persuade Al to have sex with Morrigan, and him thinking I was
joking.

9. Getting that one Dalish Elf to sleep with me, and then having Gheyna come
over and slap him... I about died laughing!!

10. And of course... the "Enchantment?!" :wizard: kid popping up in Fort
Drakkon, surrounded by bodies... that was hilarious and spooky at the same
time, but unlike some others I don't want it explained.

I love Dragon Age :)

I must concur that being able to overlook the mayhem at Osteggar is still quite breathtaking for me. Perhaps it is due to my own aversion to heights. The entire locale is one that captivates, and encourages the player to return in that same story, or later in another. Truly a work of art!

I *Loved* the whole Landsmeet thing - you've spenf hours and hours of hacking and slashing, time to go all out on politics. That was awesome.

I also love the whole getting to know your character things - I wasn't aware there were/are romanceoptions when I started playing, so having your tank hit on you was... new. ;-)

In general, if you're working on DA2, please please please consider aging i.e Alistair (optional if he lived), Leiliana and Morrigan to show how the whole DA:O story affected them and what scars and inner demons it generated.

For instance - If George RR Martin's stuff is an inspiration, you see how Jaime Lannister changes over the course of events. I'd love to see something similar - if you can generate an AI so well-crafted it generates fangirl and boy-groups, surely this could be possible?

There are so many to choose from.

The finishing moves rocked! When I got the kill on the first Ogre, my jaw hit the floor. Then doing the finishing move on a dragon, rock on!

The first time you make the trenches and the cut scene with the Arch Demon. That was impressive.

The beheading of the traitor at Landsmeet was very very nice.

But the MOST memorable was the Brood Mother and the poem leading up to it. Very very creepy.

A standout moment for me was the very beginning of the adventure---the little animated opening narration. When Duncan's voice said something like "They sought to usurp heaven, and instead destroyed it," I felt actually kind of scared. I cant think of anything more horrible than that. I mean, someone screwed over HEAVEN. I expected there to be a serious pessimism and hopelessness towards the afterlife but instead I got the freaking chantry "we go and sit by the maker!" nonsense. I think I would have preferred the former, but nonetheless, thinking that the heaven of this world has been destroyed leaves a pit in my stomach.

Another great moment for me was when Alistair asked wynne what she would do if she were a woman and someone told her if they loved her. It made me laugh and was so cute. that was when I also figured out that alistair was romancable. This was a pleasant surprise as I found myself really loving that character. I heart alistair. I really do. Thank you for him. Pretty much everything that came out of his animated mouth was gold, one way or another.

Then there was how he defied the pc when it came to killing loghain and the archdemon. I liked that he, and the other companions had convictions and their own minds.

Lastly, when Riordan called my pc Sister. It felt great being acknowledged like that. There was also, to a somewhat lesser extent, being called "kadan" by sten, "My love," and such by alistair, and generally "warden." These are little things that made me feel a belonging.

As far as things i would like to know more about---

The golden city, and its soiling. I really want to get inside this moment. I want to feel more how terrible it is. I'm also interested in Tevinter because of this.

I would like to know more about the dalish gods. My pc was a devout follower of Mythal...unfortunately I hardly know anything about her. This is not a huge thing, but something I'm quite interested in.

and thats all for now... :)

My stand out moment was when my female human noble finally got her revenge on Arle Howe for slaughtering her family, then killing off that b**** Ser Cauthrian and her band of not so merry men (after Alistair and I slaughtered them.).

I also enjoyed my brief flirtation with Bann Teagan.

the most mind etching "thing" for now is the discovery of Talking darkspawn and the debates this could raise within Thedas relating to just how human thei are and all that which follows.

Wade is awesome. a new kind of smith, he's adoring.

the fade has incredible potential as a psycological scenario. be that ****ing with the players mind in a nerving way or providing dream-like moments.

So many to choose from. I have been playing a lot off Awakenings so sorry if don't remember all names and stuff. Great moments: Haven - Loved it!!!, Landsmeet, Morrigans story, Elf/Werewolf story, Wardens Keep, Leanas song, Starfang, companion banter! more of that in the future. Loved the fact that I could give the Nug to the werewolf as a snack, problem was the Nug did not dissapear and Leana did not react to it.:P

What I did not like:
  • To mutch fade in the circletower quest, good in awakenings. Not to fond of the fade at all.
  • To small capitals, Orzamar, Denerim and Amaranthine should all have a larger main area to give a grander scale compared to the small towns. To many closed doors, I would like to talk to some locals or rob their home.
  • No time progression, places don't change, the circletower does not get somewhat restored even if it is the first thing you do in the story. You get some progression of Vigils Keep in awakenings but I would like to see more.
  • The darkroads is to cramped and run down, more contrast with grand old dwarven halls that are better preserved.
  • More variety in looks of weapons, Awakenings is better if it had not been for having to reinstall the whole game without Wardens Keep to get it to work. And after that I cant loadup saves where I have played Wardens Keep without installing it again! Argh!
  • Which brings me to BUGS! What are your testers doing? First playthrough of both Origins and Awakenings I found about 10 bugs, not all major, but still! Fixes please, of Awakenings at least.
  • And the ability to roam the land after completion would have been nice. I see how this can be problematic with players leveling up to much before the next part, but skip extra quests and just let us travel around with those in the party that are willing to follow you. Visiting towns on the mend after the blight and have some light interaction with old friends. And the ability to visit the shops again to gear up for the next part of the story.
  • The sound of peoples feet, Heavy armor and Shales clomping around gets really tedious after a while. Lower the volume. The Shale story was ok, but I really like her as a character, I just didn't want to use her because I could not stand that sound. Dogs sounds can bee a bit much as well. And oh sound bugs in Awakening, my god!
I'm just saying this for future reference.

More for the future, what I would like to see:
  • More love options! A bar wench here and there for a fling and more party member options.
  • Maybe having a fifth active party member. Dog usually gets the boot because he has no story progression.
  • The pirate girl at the black pearl! I would not mind a bit of sea faring to mix it up. Maybe to Antiva or Rivain, with a ship battle on the way.
  • Visiting the wardens base. Finding the lost Griffins and restoring the wardens as griffin riders, with your own griffin to ride!!!:o
  • More Dragons!!!:)
  • Fix the crafting of runes, check the threads on that. I also would like some kind of weapon and armor crafting, pretty much like in Awakenings but more in the way that you comission what you want and get a shopping list of things to get. With the ability to chose the look, finding new design documents for new styles and so on.
  • More story variation for new playthroughs. For example if you played as a mage in origins and did not kill Joawan at Redcliff you might have to chase him down as a sidequest later. And as a human noble you could go to search for your brother. Maybe some dynamicly generated sidequests for the future just to flesh things out and for variety.
  • And More on Morrigan and my child of course.
Sorry this became a bit long, and I think I left out half of what I wanted to say. :)
I really love the game but it does need allot of tweeking still, its just missing that little extra.

Three things I'd really like to know:

1. How did the original GW come up with the Joining ritual? Trial and error?
2. What's the life of a Templar like? More insight please! :)
3. What becomes of Avernus (provided you let him live), and does his research bear any fruits?

Not any specific moments, I know, but just a few of the thoughts that have accompanied me throughout the game. ;)

The lore surrounding Kal'Hirol, the only other surviving dwarvern city and anything to do with the deep roads, theirs alot of history down there, a MASSIVE amount of potential, I just wish it was more like the books, dark, teaming with dark spawn, possessed dwarvern kings and even things lurking underneath the deep roads....

The magi' prison, we only get snippits but it sounds... daunting.

The Original joining with Duncan, it was secretive, ritualistic and really showed what a grey warden is all about (note, joining with Duncan, the awakening 1 was a joke).

The urn of sacred ashes. I have an A level in history, have always loved Indiana jones and tomb raider, and live in England so we have a rather large amount of crumbling castles and ruins, as well as having the opportunity to go to Egypt and Africa.... ANYTHING to do with lost ruins I just gobble up lol (probably why I like the deep roads so much too). Finding that ancient ruin, the urn is what the chantry is based upon, Andraste, all that history, lost in time, only to resurface for the Warden while following a myth. And you are the first "Outsider" (cant forget the cultists) to walk those halls for centuaries. Meeting the Gaurdian and being presented with "tests", it was a change of pace in the game, instead of hacking off heads it was a nice change of pace, and id love for something like that to appear again.

Ill have to come back to this with edits when I come up with more.

LarryDavid wrote...

It would be nice to be able to play the calling of our character, maybe accompanied by their loved one (e.g. MORRIGAN (a) ). This could be implemented by unleashing waves of darkspawn on the player where each wave the darkspawn are stronger, have more resistances etc.

I just wanted to second this.  I think the very end of our warden's adventures should be like this.  It would be a fun challenge and also very moving.  Purely epic...

My favorite moment was Ostagar when you first meet Cailan, the battle was just insane, and the return to the location after the battle.

I have always wondered whats going to happen to the Ferelden throne in certain cases such as the Male Warden marrying Anora or the Female marrying Alistair. Loghain brings the topic of an heir to the throne during Awakening which makes me wonder is there certain futures of Dragon Age where we will either see or play the descendants of the King and Queen or a storyline where a fight for an empty throne occurs before another Dragon Age game.

Another then i wondered was in the case of the Male Warden marrying Anora upon the death of both Loghain and Fergus current Terynirs of Highever and Gwaren don't the two revert to the Throne and future princes and princesses gain the title similar to how the English monarchy works.

Something else I've also wanted to see expanded on was the Tevinter Imperium. The way it is comparable to the real Byzantine Empire has always caught my interest.

As background, let me preface by saying that I've run a City Elf Warrior and a Dalish Rogue, both male.

Standout Moments:
The thrown knife to the thorat during the City elf origin story.
The campsite reunion with Tamriel for my Dalish (there may have even been tears! LOL)
The realization during the Landsmeet that Loghain, villain though he may be, was driven by the best of reasons, the good of Ferelden. In other words, he was behaving like any Grey Warden would: doing whatever it took to get the job done.
Just about every NPC conversation.
Killing the Archdemon cutscene
Every large battle cutscene, but particularly during the final battle when the archdemon is slain and the tower lights up. It gave chills, both times!
Hardened Alistairs pre-battle speech to the troops, not to mention every one of his hissy fits.

(And simploy because this may well be the funniest moment ever. Your first encounter with Oghren in Awakenings when he stops in the middle of a one-on-many battle to give you a huge grin and a wave. I actually laughed so hard that the game played itself for about 2 minutes while I was recovering!)

Oh, and for the record, as a reluctant elven recruit, I really would have liked to have seen more evidence of elven hatred for humans in my various conversation options. After all, in one origin, I help slaughter some human trespassers and in the other, my bride to be and friends are taken away to be gangraped. Lets face it, neither of my elven heroes would have had much love for humans and would be, at best, a reluctant champion of anything/anyone human.

Standout moments:

The city elf origin - i loved the gritiness of it!

The dwarf commomer origin - again i loved the gritiness and the guards muttering evil comments about casteless scum, also Leske's betrayal, that really got me going

The romances - wasn't expecting them, but such a delight, the flirts and the firelit eyes *swoons*

Redcliff village - i loved charging around persuading/buying people to help defend the village

Hespiths chant - so creepy, took me ages to get round the part because i had to keep stopping to listen to her

Spider spawns- everytime they dropped onto my head i literally jumped a foot, even several playthroughs down the line when i know they are coming!

Connor and Isolde - creepy demon child and mother whos determination to protect her son almost slaughtered an entire village! I wanted to stab her as soon as i found out. Also Teagan's dancing in the scene, i walked in and thought *i've just had to fight my way through hordes of damn undead and he's DANCING?!*

The random party conversations - made me laugh so much, always have to stop and listen to them :)

The war council at ostagar - when Loghain made his parting shot i was jumping up and down going *look at his eyes hes eeeevil!*

The gauntlet - i got horrible overly excited that there were riddles and floor puzzles, i like having to think every now and then :)

Most of the quests delighted me really, nothing was as it seemed and i adored that, being sent to find Branka to find out she sacrificed her whole house, finding out that werewolves weren't just evil rabid dogs. I just loved every twist and turn to all the quests :)

What i would like to see:

Endings continue - what i mean is i spent ages setting it up so Alistair would stay a grey warden and that my buddy Zev would tag along and then i got to awakenings and apparently both of them got lost on the path, really sad about that, would like to see the option of some characters continuing forward, makes it feel more like its 'my' party.

More gritty opening stories! - i found it sad that humans only got noble intro (or mage), i wanted to play an escaped thief or distressed farmhand

More conversations! - preferabley ones i can't just stand and spam until i have high enough approval to unlock the rest i.e more conversations being unlocked at certain parts in the story

More quests that dont just involve hacking everything apart, i loved the bits where i could persuade my way out of things or where there were puzzles, made for a lovely break from screaming npcs and darkspawn erm noise.

I would also love to visit Antiva, sounded a bit like ankh-morpork to me, yay for total chaos!

I forgot to add to my list of highlights; the speeches by the companions before the final battle. I was particularly moved by romanced Leliana's speech to her warden lover.

After this however, the chat with Leliana after the coronation when she invites herself along on the Warden's future adventures was ok but in comparison was a bit of an anti-climax. I think the romance element could have been expressed a bit stronger here.

However, I was a little disappointed with the epilogue panel. Although it does say they stay together in the future and therefore it keeps their happy ending, it is rather short and understated and there is no direct reference to their romance.

Let me start by saying I played a human noble warrior.  I did not realize I was also playing a tragedy.  The final hours of the game really sucked for me.  Alister betrays me with a hissy fit after I let Loghain atempt the joining.  Morrigan, my lover for half the game comes to me with the choice of creating some demon/god child then leaves taking my combat mage and my lover away.  At this point you could have at least given me the option to let the world burn.  Instead I tell Warden Loghain to ****** off and guard the gates don my legion of the dead armor go kill the Archdemon and die.  So my story ends and my desire to purchase and pursue awakenings is 0 so I guess it is a tragedy for both of us :)

I just basicaly love to crush stereotypes and characters that crushes those preconceptions. Some examples:

-Sten: after the coronation he basicaly tells you that he never expected a foreign to become his Kadan. From my understanding, Kadan is literaly the place where the heart is; he get to consider you even higher than a member of the Beereshad; a seeker (I cannot remember the qunari word).

Trough the game you can show him that not followers of the qun may be respectful.

I´d love to be able to know Sten´s true name (his whole ascendacy names) or even, see him considered a Tal´Vashoth because he has started questioning the qun and become a sort of warrior-philosopher after all he has seen and learnt.

-Morrigan is another classic. It´s marbellous to crack her shell of bitternes, suspicious approaches, sardonic humour and cynicism to realize that people may care for her without asking anything in return. If the romance is active she realizes that it´s not love, but confussion what makes her week and her incapacity to overcome the way she was brought up.

I´d really like to see her again and not loosing even a single grame of sarcasm, irony and humour; but with even bigger conflicts after realizing that at least, one person in the world, does really care about her.

-Flemeth is logicaly connected to Morrigan and seems like she´s miles ahead of what is happening and has plans in the plans others plotted.

-Oghren was kind of a down in Awakening. I mean, in Origins, Oghren is basicaly drunk trash and he even relizes it. But at the end of the game he faces a very possible death, looks serious and charges into battle, sober, confident and fearless.

Awakening crippled that progression turning him into a kind of drunk jester for comic relief. I´d really like Oghren keeping his funny-alcoholic thing but the game also byppased the fact that sometimes he is sober, serious and can talk with the seriouesness of a paragon.

-Anora. Basicaly the character we all love to hate. Give us more of her, more plotting, more political backstab and perhaps a baby, not necessarily from your pc or Alistair...

-Nevarran Dragonslayers. I´d really love to know more about these people and I picture them as a kind of old Spanish ruthless warriors obssessed like Captain Ahab with killing massive lizards.

I liked the character interactions and the speeches given by the characters as you go off to face the Archdemon. It was like being in movie about the Alamo or being in Glory. It was great. I didn't get the same feeling in Awakenings. I felt closer to the characters in Origins than Awakening.

Morrigan and Sten are just amazing characters. I like to know Sten's true name too.

I like to know more about Ferals.

I like to have more Anora. I love her character too.

I enjoyed the Origin stories.

I like to know more about the different factions among the Mages.

I like to know more about the various Bannorn.

I like to know how oppressive are the Chevaliers to the commoners.

I like to know more about chasind, because swooping is bad.

I like to know where did that Blood Mage go (if you let her lived) in the Circle Mage escape too.

Memorable moments

For a wierd reason, I remember human noble start, running those city streets meeting my dog, sounds like fairytale for some reason.

Same for City Elf, that was more exciting story, I loved the idea and whole concept.

Definatly the first Ogres, im big fan of them in Dragon Age.

And I must say, first time I played the game..everything standed out, its just brilliant.

Definatly something I will remeber for very loong time, and miss. Just like I was a big part of it. The exact same thing for Mass Effect series.

There is so many memorable moments, I could keep counting them from beginning to the end.

Ignoring the big parts of the game (companions, main story), I definatly wan’t to learn more about Ogres, where they come from and so on.

How’s life, when there is no blight.

There is so many things I would like to know about more..

And just that were clear, I loved every part of the game, not just those moments.
Off-topic ---But DEFINATLY add more population, people walking, speaking, partys to citys, campsites and so on. Please, please.

- Every time someone referred to my origin was at least a little standout moment. It's a very, VERY powerful tool to pull the player in the game. More of it please.

- The fade missions. It's all so strange an bizarre, like someone teleported you right into a bloody M. C Escher drawing. A bit of wasted potential with the fade mission in the circle tower though, it would have been great (and would have made more sense imo) if every origin had their own starting dream, like a human noble being in Highever with his/her family well and alive. When we have a daemon inside our mind, turning our own thoughts and memories against us, let us feel the terror! The confrontation with the Master Wraith in Throne of Bhaal is a great example

- Your buddies breaking you out of Fort Drakon. I find myself surrendering to Ser Cauthrien every time just too see them pull me out of it.
(Plus, I hate fighting Ser Cauthrien because that women is insanely overpowered. Seriously, why do we even have to raise an army? Send that chick into the deeproads all by herself and in less than a week every living darkspawn will be reduced to a pitiful pile of gore and dismembered limbs)

- The way Alistair's romance/friendship was influenced by the decisions in the main story. Please let our companions play bigger roles in the main quest. Deciding the fate of a whole nation is great and epic and all, but when our choices also effect characters we know and care for it gets emotional.

-EDIT Oh, and the conversations with my companions before the final battle starts. They were all very well done, but hearing Oghren say "Today I'll be the warrior you taught me to be." almost made me cry. Just let that sink in a bit: A dwarven drunkard who communicates mostly through farts and belches, wrestles roasted nugs and occasionally pisses himself during combat not only made me like him somehow, but almost made me shed tears of emotion. I don't know if that tells something good about Bioware or something bad about me. Probably both.
