To be honest I'm not much bothered about finding out more about anything, I took the game as it was presented, I even read the Codex which was interesting and there are endless possibilities for future development, but I did find it frustrating that after seeing the clip of the Archdemon on arriving in the Deep Roads a bit of a fizzer, we looked, we saw and nothing was said I would have liked some dialogue with Alistair about it, even "holy c* are we really going up against that". This is the first game I've ever played that had the dialogue and interaction with characters, I loved it and hope that it is expanded on and continues.

The one encounter that played on my mind was Avernus and I couldn't help but hope that he would come up with a solution/fix to the problem with GWs having children and not having to die after 30 years. Right up until the end of the game I was really hoping that we would hear from him again, but in a nice way this time and not more of his experiments on people.

There are a lot of outstanding moments in this game, I am sure I forget most of them now that I decided to add to this thread, but here it goes.

I really loved the character interactions, the cut-scenes (the "rose" with Alistair), all the personal stories you got slowly out of everyone. When I started playing, I knew nothing of this game, and the relationship/s in the story got me completely by surprise. Huge compliment to the voice actors and the people who did the graphics of the faces, that blew me away.

It dissapointed a bit in Awakening, because I felt there was not enough time in the game to actually get to know everyone of your party.

I would like to see more of the Grey Wardens, are they really that good and self sacrificing, or do (as most groups) they have a hidden agenda? They certainly knew about the architect, but that knowlegde has not been passed on it seems, or did I miss something here? A bit of a sad trade off for wardens if you ask me, you get to sense the darkspawn...and die earlier or get horribly tainted.

Definitly want to know more about Morrigan and Baby, Fiona, Liliana, Alistair and all the old crew from awakening. I did not really feel comfortable with the guys in awakening (Kristoff the ever "lawfull good" character,...)

I would like to see longer dungeon crawls, not separated by sections like the Deep Roads.

Also the Golden City, what is the real story behind the Chant, is there actually really a "Maker" and all the other gods, or are there just the horrible "old" gods and demons, and in between a few beneficial spirits who don't interact with normal people?

I am very pleased with the emotional depth of the various Epilogues, esp for those Boon rewards that one will get anyway.

And I was laughing for minutes yesterday at my first viewing of Carroll; Templar and Ferryman and his banter with Morrigan. Sten's dialogue is also amusing.

Hespith was a great moment for me. One I felt was taken away from me. I felt strangely impotent the way she just sods off. Also the eerie chanting was great. One that also carried the kids chanting in the alianage.

Dark roads was great and something I would like to explore further.

However if stuff was really going to tie into the world then an expansion would absolutely have to tie into the fade. I would look to Mask of the Betrayer/PS:T for inspiration. However given the stats we would have aquired something would have to be done to either hamper us seriously or have us wake up with no friggen memory at all of why we were there in the first place (Tribute to Planescape: Torment).

Definitely the character interactions, relationships are my biggest stand-out - character development and acting are just stellar. I've played a lot of RPGs, but Dragon Age blows them out of the water. The twists in the story and action, and range of choices are also fantastic - at no point was did I lose interest - you love your characters, the characters in the story - it feels like a sort of loss when you finally finish the game.

Just amazing, well done.

I would love to see the origins of the Grey Wardens as well, a prologue of sorts. Maybe more of Flemeth in her beginnings. So many options! I'd be interested in Zevran's story as well! I can't choose!

I'm interested in how templars actually become templars? What kind of training do they go through?

I personally would love to see the outcome of the GW baby too, but without losing the integrity of my character , or the group I took thru the battles with. Specifically if you romanced Alistair, why couldnt your saved characters embark with the aide of their companions to " save " the child from some evil event?

Even if you choose to be a GW from a male perspective, why not help out a friend and a brother in arms? It might lead to many adventures in the wilds, the dwarven ruins, or orlais!

My first play thru was a female city elf, and that is still my favorite, everytime I fight Vaughn I hope that I will get to behead the bastard!

The first time i played through i was totally heartbroken when an unhardened Alistair dumped me after I made him King... I actually had to walk away from the game and reloaded a save to try different dialog options to see if the outcome could be different. (I know how pathetic) I have never had a game actually invoke emotions like that, sure have been scared when playing a horror type game, but feel rejection over a pixel?

I was also touched at how Alistair forgave Isolde for being such a b!tch. I would have liked some dialog alone in a room with her.

Also, Kal-Sharok add me to that petition as well.

Sten was also intriguing. Cookies? I wanted to find cookies to give to him? Why no cookies in any stores come on!

Morrigan and that demon child.. would be interesting if the game flashed forward to right before the wardens calling and they had to deal with that demon child mess before they went to Orzammar, or they could die in battle!

I'm going against the grain and say that I would much much much prefer continue my warden for DA2. Strong preference for the next story to involve something with Morrigan and her kid....and several returning characters from DA1. Mass Effect 2 did a good job of incorporating old characters from ME1 to ME2, whether they're cameo appearances or returning party members. I'd like to see the same as well as an impact of my past decisions (whether it's through importation or choices in dialogue a la KOTOR 2)

The writers have done a great job with DAO and Awakenings. I'm sure they'll think of something interesting again as long as it's not the sixth blight. They have many different avenues to choose from - Morrigan's child, The black city, Teventir Mages, Quanari, etc. Keep the writing dark and not overly fantastical. I'd rather see The Maker remain vague and whose existence is more a matter of faith than some standard superpowered D&D god

I agree with fanman72, who makes many excellent points.

After finishing DA:O and deciding it was the best game I had ever played, I decided to try other Bioware games. That's when I picked up a copy of ME:1. Now it and ME:2 edges DA:O as my favorites, precisely for the reasons fanman 72 argues. My DA:O character formed intense personal relationships with many of the NPCs in DA:O, just as my Shephard did in ME. The most memorable moments for me in all three games are those with the other characters. The stories in these Bioware games approach the best cinema in terms of the viewer/player being able to connect emotionally with the movie's/game's characters. In fact, the story was more engrossing because of character relationships. In DA:O, I didn't want to let my friends down. I stayed faithful to Leliana; that LI plot formed many touching moments in the game. I also agonized about making Alistair king--should I, or shouldn't I? And marrying him to Anora? What kind of life was I consigning my best friend to?

Same in ME. My Shepard stayed faithful to Ashley, but formed bonds with the other characters. And Garrus is my Shepard's best bud.

Relationships and their impact on the game's plot/outcome seem to me to be the heart of Bioware games. My recommendation is that future DA:O sequels stay true to that unique feature of the best games I've ever played--Bioware games.

I would like to know about Free marches, Navarra and Rivain. We got to know quite a bit about Orlais, Antiva, Tevinter and a little about Anderfels but next to nothing about those three.

Qunari mages. We know they fear them and keep them chained but to they just lock them up and throw away the key or do they use them like tools or something.

Qunari that don't follow the qun. I was very intrigued by that qunari merchant you meet in awakening but his explanation didn't really tell me anything.

I was very intrigued by the concept art in the ending credits. A drawing of a very stylish and oddlooking woman. Was that a creature concept or an early concept of a more extravagant Anora.

Chantry in Tevinter and Tevinter in general.

The exact role of Grey Wardens in Anderfels. I got the impression that it was a cold wasteland with nothing of interest but the Weisshaupt fortress, Surely there's more to Anderfels and its politics.

One of my favorite games ever. Just finished my sixth playthrough, to cover all of the origin stories, and intentionally went slowly to capture as many side quests and dialogues as possible. The game is moving, funny, exciting and beautiful all at once. I played on easy mode as the story line mattered more to me than showing how uber I could be fighting bosses and the like. While the special moments were too numerous to mention, some that stand out were these--

--the Shale backstory. And the hidden thaig. Just marvelous. Shale was definitely my favorite companion, as s/he/it is so snarky. Just a hoot. And an amazing, amazing tank.

-the casteless dwarf story. The only time I felt good about picking Bhelen over Harrowmount. Just a superb family saga.

-the Dalish elf, dwarf noble and human noble origin stories. Those were definitely my favorites.

-First, then Keeper Layana. Oh, how I wanted her for a companion. The most gorgeous of the female NPCs to my eyes, and such a strong and stirring character. Would've traded her for Leliana in a New York minute.

-Alastair, for his goofiness and good heart. Best game straight man ever. Dumped on by everyone, never took umbrage, kept soldiering on. In the end, very admirable.

-Mixed feelings on Loghain. Good job of trying to make him a flawed character, but in the end, I always found him really evil. Only let him attempt the Grey Warden joining once. Mostly just killed him. But a great villain, all in all.

-Loved the British/Celtic accents that predominated, perhaps most elegantly done with Morrigan, maybe the loveliest game NPC ever. I pursued Leliana just once, and just to do it. I mean, she was such an annoying priss compared to the dark, subtle, seductive, yet strangely vulnerable Morrigan. I found myself addicted to Morrigan every time I played.

-Everything about Orzammar was great. Definitely my favorite game area for a variety of reasons--complexity, so many different aspects to things, the Provings, the nugs, the general churlishness of the dwarves, and the beautifully rendered underground world.

-The Lady of the Forest. What a poignant tale, both from the standpoint of the horrors visited on the Dalish and the impact on Zathrian, the humans and his own people. She was a creature of grace, beauty, and wisdom, and that story line was very moving and very well done.

Finally, I only hope Bioware keeps expanding what we can do in the world of Dragon Age. I want to see so many more of the lands mentioned. Orlais, The Waking Sea, the Qunari area, just whatever the devs are willing to create. And more companions, with more romance and interaction opportunities. Just great stuff all around. Many, many thanks for what became for me HUNDREDS of hours of game play.

Jowan. A nonebugged quest would be nice. just saying. Also dealing with fereldens weakened status and the dalish. New exalted march, aka excuse for Orlay to invade, with ferelden being the target for supporting the "Heathens", also known as the dalish who helped you out.

Stand-out moments for me were when Duncan died and the ultimate sacrifice. Epic story that emotionally involves me can make up for a lot. Dragon Age had a pretty good balance between story and gameplay. It kept me interested. Never got boring. Just remember to keep the story engaging and coming at a steady pace and the rest will fall into place.

I think if there's one thing I'd like to see more of, it's more development of party members that doesn't directly relate to the player. I want to see more of the party members interacting with each other, and I want to get a better idea of how they feel and think about the main character. Right now the only way to find out what they're thinking is to talk to them. Aside from that, they just stand around in the same place doing nothing. The dialog between them during missions is awesome, but it doesn't really affect how they relate to each other. We already know how much they approave of the PC, but I want to see how much they approve of other characters.

Being able to start converstation with my companions (specifically Morrigan and Leliana, easily the two best characters in the game) in camp and on the road, whether that conversation was relevant or not. Please God get rid of that Awakening style system.

In terms of stand out moments of annoyance - having to constantly morph into different animals in the Fade. Please God no more of that!

Things I Liked:
- Sten. He seemed like such a jerk. I didn't use him in my first playthrough, but once I gave him a try and gained his respect his character was cool.
- The day at court in Awakening.

Things I Loved:
- Alistair and Wynne. They were awesome characters.
- I loved sitting in the party camp and talking to the characters in DA:O.
- Building the keep up in Awakening. It was a good idea, kind of like the keep in NWN2. I'd like to see that kind of play expanded on.

Things I Want To See More Of:
- More access to lore. I've made some lore question posts from the developers before. What are the names of important leaders in other regions? Who is the Divine? Can there be a more complete list of the nobility and freeholders such as who is Bann of what bannorn and where are they located, etc.?
- I want a continuation of Wynne's tale, personally. She was my favorite character overall. I'd love to meet up with her post-Awakening and help out the mages in Cumberland. Could her lost child be found as well? I'd be really interested in that. More information on other circles would also be welcomed!

I'll see what else I can think of.
- I want to see Nevarra and Orlais in particular. Other regions of Thedas would also be cool, but I'm fond of those two regions.

The ultimate standout for me was the epilogue. By the time I got to that point, I truly felt like I'd accomplished something. And okay, being hailed as the Hero of Ferelden was kind of embarassing, it was also kind of cool to be recognized for being so awesome. More than anything else, I'd like the see follow-up from the endgame: What happens with the Demon Baby? Do the other Wardens actually buy Alistair's playing dumb act?  Is he able to produce an heir, or is Ferelden looking at another civil war in 30 years? If I'm the new Bann of the Alienage, does anything actually change, and does it have any effect on, say, the Highever alienage? Doesn't the Chantry get upset if the king gives the mages more freedom?

Aside from that, the bit of lore that I'm most curious about is the other nations in Thedas.  I was very intrigued by the idea of Rivain, and that the only human nation in Thedas where worship of the Maker isn't the predominant faith, and where they seem to be generally tolerant of other races and beliefs. Antiva is also fascinating, with the ineffectual government and the country basically being run by the Crows. And of course, the Orlesians are plotting something, because that's what they do....

The reason I've played through the game so many times is because of the character development and the worldbuilding. I'd really like to see future DLC focusing on those areas; I think that's what sets Bioware games apart from so many others.

Did Flemeth really die when we slayed her??Was Morrigan telling the truth about her mother?

One stand out moment was when Morrigan reveled her true reason for tagging along......i never saw that coming........since the ring she gave Aedan will allow him to find her and vice versa that should be expanded upon......their's was a dark romance.....

I really liked the party interaction. The banter on quests and being able to talk to them in the camp site added a lot of depth. It would be somewhat interesting to hold a conversation with multiple party members at a time or to have party members comment on your relationship with other party members.

I know it happens a little when in a romantic relationship but it would also be neat if it happened for non-romantic relationships. It would be interesting to see how they all felt about each other too in camp similar to how some characters would talk to the dog. One moment that stuck out for me was hearing Liliana talk about Flemeth and then hearing Morrigans version. It would be good if you could see them interact within the camp not just in a party. Some characters I never used together so there was no hint as to what their relationship might be.

Orzammar was one of my favourite locations, it seemed to have much more depth than the other Blight quests. The brood mother and the anvil of the void stood out as the best examples of Dragon Age being a dark fantasy. I also enjoyed Shale's personal quest. It would be nice to see the Dwarves get some resolution.  Kinda feel bad ending the blight but they're constantly keeping the dark spawn at bay. Seems that which ever way you choose with the Dwarven politics, they don't end up doing so well. Also rediscovring the other dwarven city?

Wynn having a son was interesting. And obviously Morrigan and her child. I didn't find Lilliana and Zevran to be as interesting as the rest. Sten and Shale were great. Finding out more about the Quanari would be swell.

the Landsmeet to me was huge, i was SO worried i was going in unprepared, when i even had everything, it was very very tense, and it wasn't anything like when i went on the suicide mission on ME2, i knew id done everything. i knew i was good to go. there was something about the landsmeet that was just epic, would the queen betray me? would i get to keep my romance with Leliana after i married her?

my companions had some good ones, the best one is easily Shale, after i recruited her and i was moving out of the village, she stopped to stomp on something. it was just a small action that revealed allot about her character, the next closest thing i could remember is Sigrun wanting to steal something shiny from the merchant and Rabbit putting "gifts" into Morrigans unmentionables.

In awakenings, the guy jumping off the cliff after learning I was the same warden commander who defeated the arch-demon was priceless, as the guard said in Origins "and people willingly attack you? what are they stupid?" i felt that those two moments were a great reaction to my presence considering everything i had accomplished over the course of two games.

being reminded that my character is a badass that way was pretty damned cool.

I'm just hoping i can pay someone to have my bloody sword stolen back and that Sigrun sticks around for the 2nd game.

Oh my goodness when Alistair said to my warden...
"Makers Breath but you are Beautiful! I am a lucky lucky man!!" I almost swooned!! I replayed this game many trillions of times for that moment!

I really enjoyed every aspect of the developing relationships with the other companions. Lelianas song caught me by surprise as I have never seen anything done like that in a game before. Wow!!

Poor Duncans death scene was terribly sad!

Oh I just always hate killing Flemeth espeically as she saved the two wardens from the tower, I have to put off sound and just get to the killing really quickly as I feel so bad doing that!

I think Morrigans acting when she recognises your friendship is fantastic.
Oh and there are so many more (but its time for bed, lol)

Another vote for the relationships here!

This game is better than even most fiction novels at creating believable, likable characters. And the experience of getting to interact with them, influence them, and even see them make positive changes is awesome. Having romances with some of them? Fantastic!!!

I've been playing video games since the early days of Atari and Intellivision (okay, giving away my age here), and this is the coolest, most engrossing and fascinating game I've ever played. That means it surpasses early groundbreakers like Civilization, Might and Magic, and Everquest, as far as I'm concerned. The "Wow Factor" is off the charts with Dragon Age: Origins. This is the first game I've ever played all the way through and then started immediately to replay.

What I'd like to see in the future? More of the same! I was disappointed at the end that my companions and I all went our separate ways. How about another big crisis that brings us all back together? Maybe it's a few years later, and I can see my character having to go round up all my companions, who have gone off to their homelands and are in the midst of living their lives. But I have to go call them out of retirement because there is another Blight to face (maybe the Archdemon wasn't really the worst of the worse after all). This would open up interesting adventures in each of their homelands. Perhaps they would all be very annoyed to be dragged out of retirement, and I would have to win them over again. Maybe they could continue to evolve. In DAO we really just scratched the surface of what they might all become. It would even be fun to hunt down Morrigan and find out what she is doing with that child.

Morrigan's baby: If Alistair fails to produce an heir, the baby could have a claim to the throne, no? This storyline could go in any one of numerous directions. I suspect the developers have already thought of this.

Thank you for creating such a beautiful and fascinating game. I actually got choked up at certain scenes, such as when the werewolves got turned back into humans and the final battle when my character jumped on top of the Archdemon and plunged her sword into it. I swooned for days after the first kiss between my character and Alistair, which was totally unexpected. No other game has been able to reach such a deep emotional level for me, and I'm sure that's true for many other people as well. The potential for future development is fascinating to contemplate.

There are so many things already mentioned, nevertheless I want to gice my 2 ct's as well.

First of all, it is the first computer game, that really, really made me like the characters presented. I played all the classics (BG, NWN, Torment, the Bethesda games, Gothic, ...) but this time it was much more like reading a novel than playing a game. This goes for party members, but it also goes for some other people you meet. On that line, I would really love to see more of Shianni who is my favourite ... I think she is so strong and still vulnerable, awesome writing.

I also adore how some of your companions grow to your heart as their story unfolds, that is ... ALL of the grew to my heart :)

As for standout moments:

The battle at the bridge in the dead trenches - I played a 2h-warrior in one of my playthroughs and it was really, really awesome to cut through the darkspawn knocking and tossing them around up until the ogre is sliced as well ... the Legion of the Dead commander mentioning you cut through them as a hot knife through butter was really awesome.

I also liked the defending of the alienage. All those poor elves run away in horror and you're the only one running in the opposite direction, and then preparing for battle while the ogre is crushing the gate - awesome.

The romance with Alistair was also perfectly written. I was avoiding any spoilers whatsoever for my first two playthroughs and was romancing Ali with my elven mage. I was quite happy until just after the landsmeet - and then he dumps me! Really shocking. I decided to make the US, as I was so depressed loosing Al to the throne, so I head into the final battle with the Archdemon. The demon lies on the ground, just about to give his last breath, and then suddenly Alistair grabs the sword and kills the demon - it was hilarious, breathtaking awesome how I did feel in this moment. Since then I never romance Alistair again in any of my games - not because I hate him, but because it was so emotionally involving, I can stand this only once :)

The landsmeet is great and it was outstanding the first time. I did not know what would happen (and I didn't find too many supporters) and it was very close win. To hear the Arls and Banns when they say: "Dragonhill supports the Warden" and so on gave me goose bumps.

The area I enjoyed most was the Deep Roads ... really good design and the sequence before the Broodmother fight with Hespith - goose bumps again. And again when you here Branka talking about what she did to her people to overcome Carridins traps.

What would I like to see in future: Story, story, story ... don't waste your time on graphics, effects, physics engine whatsoever ... give us what you can best: a great story.

And as others suggested: let us play our Wardes calling, let us make our last stand in the Deep Roads ... maybe as a prologue to one of the upcoming DA titles

To pick my standout moments, I will go back to the very first time I played the game spoiler-free.

*the werewolves saying goodbye to the spirit of the forest and then becoming human again. The first time I saw it I got a little misty-eyed. ^^

*the whole lead-up to the broodmother with Hespith was so darkly atmospheric and had me on the edge of my seat the entire time. The big reveal was awesome too.

*Zevran telling my Warden at the Denerim gates that he would march into the Black City itself by her side.
