80% of all 360s will RRoD in 36 months. It's pretty much facts.
Here is a question. Why can't you upload your saves to the server and store them to your XBL account? That would be ideal. Hopefully they are working on it.

Why would you need to upload saves at all?  RROD is a CPU error, hard drive is unaffected.  You don't send you HDD to Msoft, just the console.

My xbox is way old. Sometimes I need to turn it on and then off again multiple times before anything shows up on the screen. I actually got the RROD a few times, or at least I got the three red lights and the Chinese error code, but it still amazingly runs

Same exact thing has been happening to me since around  September. Sometimes I'll turn it on and nothing but the start  screen(XBox Logo) will show up. It started a month AFTER I had a new one shipped from Microsoft. The fail rate on these things is terrible. I feel like I'm due anytime now.

My 360 is pretty old but it's doing fine. had the RROD a while back and was succesfully repaired. I remember reading an article about how many 360 consols were affected by the RROD. As it turns out, they ran some tests and discovered that 9 out of 10 consoles were hit by the RROD due to inefficient wiring, sub-standard parts, and other similar causes. The newer consols sre apparently built with better wiring and parts and rarely face a meltdown.
