I need help with ME2 role-playing, that is: taking classes outside their comfort zone or giving them one specific focus in combat.

I am currently playing my Unarmed Infiltrator but I would also like some others.

If you could provide an idea with a build I would appreciate it,

I was leaning toward a no-Tech Armor Sentinel, but I think that might be a bit boring.

Well I have always been talking/dreaming about a heavy weapon only character. I think your melee infiltrator is best suited for that.

Honestly this game does not lend itself very well to this kind of gameplay. Your builds are so limited it's actually kinda sad. Luckily all 6 classes play differently enough to keep it interesting. I remember playing Fallout 1/2 and making all kinds of stupid RP guys and beat the game with all of them!

My favorite was a Doctor style character that had First Aid, Doctor and Speech as skills. Gifted and Finesse (steady hands) as a tag, and only used knives as weapons. He would inflict massive critical on enemies with his surgical strikes. Man he was fun.

I also made a character who only threw rocks the entire game. I had to hack my save file to give me like 900 rocks but it was hilarious.

AAAAAANYWAY ME2 RP ideas...

Play a soldier or sentinel and max Inferno Grenade first. And play a granadier. You could lead with an inferno nade, and then while the reel you can storm in.

I don't know... This game just isn't suited for this.

The game is not, at all, suited for RP. But that is why I like to try. I don't like playing optimally and I would rather try a bunch of ridiculously challenging but still fun builds. My builds are only sad if you haven't played them. I have started to turn my Melee Infiltrator into a Heavy Weapons specialist.

Sentinel Grenadier might be fun, actually.

Hm.

Sentinel Grenadier:

Throw: 2

Heavy Warp: 4 (Biotic Grenade)

Tech Armor: 2

Overload:2

Deep Cryo Blast: 4 (Ice Grenade)

Raider: 4

Inferno Grenade: 4

And then use primarily Heavy Weapons

yeah that is kinda what I am rolling with my Sent currently. Except I built mine more like a vanguard so I spend to much time rushing and shot-gunning to do much else. But I can totally see your build working. I think it would be very fun.

you can also do a Dominate/AIHack/Dron engineer and use very few guns. Kinda like a summoner type build.

They just released a new heavy weapon too, to make the whole HW thing really shine.

We really should be allowed to buy HW ammo. I might do a summoner Engie later. I just finished an Engineer

One fun one I've done is the hyper aggresive soldier. You pretty much constantly engage in CQC by using adrenaline rush and you're 40% or 50% storm speed to get right up in enemies faces with the Revenant or shot gun. The idea is to be in cover for the absolute minimal amount of time. if you get in a bad situation use Heightened adrenaline rush to manuever around behind the guy shooting at you.

Build:

Incendiary ammo: 4 (inferno)

Concussive shot: 0

Adrenaline rush: 4 (heightened)

Disruptor ammo: 4 (heavy)

Cryo ammo: 4 (squad)

Combat specialist: 4 (commando)

Bonus: 1 (throwaway)

not sure if this is entirely what you're looking for but it is a very exciting class to play. Don't know what you call it though (marine perhaps?)

That sounds really fun, but can a soldier really survive getting shot at by 3-4 people?

Hm. Not a bad idea. I am not a Soldier fan but it might be fun to give a go later on

Easily. if you take heightened adrenaline rush you're moving nearly twice as fast as your opponents so you're not getting shot at because you're moving too quickly. Also with this super speed which give you 140% damage bonus you end up clearing out 2-3 of the baddies before you come back to regular speed. If you play it smart and use your squadies effectively, survivability isn't too much of a challenge. You do have to be careful though and the learning curve can be quite steep but once you get a handle on it, it easily becomes a very viable tactic.

Wow, soldier was my first play so I wasn't as familiar with the game mechanics as I am now. I mistly just used Adrenaline and ARed from a distance. Sounds like I need to try the STORM SOLDIER.

Not sure if this is really RP but I found I do this just to make the game more fun.

I never take the same heavy weapon 2 missions in a row. Usually I take it further than that and try not to take the same HW for multiple missions to force me to cycle through them (I advocate using HW often)

Also I never take the same squad member on 2 missions back to back either. Just to keep the variety going.
