also, if scanning is back in ME3 (without major revisions to increase fun-itude) bioware will have a large-scale riot on their hands.

I admire your dedication, however.

Fixed.
PC players take planets from Rich to Depleted in 45 seconds.

this is a bad example because it wasn't really fun either, but at least in Fable 2 when you got a job it was challenging and offered more room for mistakes. Still wasn't fun though...maybe more little missions that are only for minerals...

In all honesty, even 45 seconds is too long. It's just a tedious mechanic that doesn't add anything to the game.

Ha, I can see that. I personally don't mind it--you'll probably think I'm lying and/or crazy, but sometimes I just get into a planet scanning mood and go system-hopping with my space shovel grabbing what I find (as long as I can still use it for upgrades). But I don't fault anyone for disliking it at all, because I can see how it can get incredibly tedious for most people, and it's really one-dimensional and adds little to the game aside from a way to gather...resources...like in any RPG. It could have been incredibly fun and interesting across the board if they would have tried harder.

Well, I don't have anything against the resource management system itself - I thought it was fairly well-done, and I did enjoy accumulating the stuff especially in my first playthrough. However, when it comes to scanning planets, I don't see why couldn't just, I don't know, have EDI carry out an auto-scan for you and mark out the locations of concentrated mineral reserves, so you could just grab them at your leisure. There just seems to be no good in-game justification for why you have to carry out scans manually.

This. Scanning is a vast improvement over the last game. It is so much easier than driving around a square mile of land looking for a pile of rocks.Ramikadyc wrote...

In ME3 we will have a hovertank to blast apart planets for there resources as well as jetpacks to jump around with and use Legion as a sledgehammer.
