I made a new campaign. The Character Creation screen shows up but in the left side which shows a preview of your character. Nothing would show up. Its just blank. You can see the background with the smoke but no character would be there. Also when, you choose to customize your character, none of the options can be clicked. You can choose any preset or anything. This is so weird. Oh and I updated to 1.03 yesterday.^_^

Although I suspect I know what you have done wrong, I really STILL wish that DA: O had the same reminder type sticky at the top that ME1 / ME2 has (Victor's sticky was a special purpose item, overdue to be trashed). It's the third sticky from the top in that forum that covers what is needed, and the part telling the new arrivals what we need from them starts this way:

(Chris Priestley's Fill in the blanks instructions):

"If you don’t find a similar problem already reported, consider starting a new thread. Note that most of this information can be obtained by using the game’s Configuration Utility, which is available by pressing the [Configure] button from the game’s launcher:"

Let's pretend he wrote that for, and stickied it, in both places, shall we? There's no need to ask which game you are describing a problem in in the DA Forum, and now that ME-1 is removed from the ME-2 Tech Discussions Forum, Chris could edit his post to remove his first question anyway.

It's possible, however, that you may prefer this, instead:

Same problem + when I load an old game I cannot attack and attacks do not affect my party, although my characters still dodge and such to incoming attacks that do no damage.  Also my stamina/mana bars are empty and this all happened right after updating to 1.03 from 1.00 (fixed my choppy combat performance though).

For the OP, I saw nothing there that shouted out to me it was a problem, sorry.  Same for the next several, save for Luke:

At what resolution is this happening?  That's a minimum video card you have there (foure year old 8500, renamed), and in this game, could easily be overstressed by the high end of medium resolution.

I have it set at 1280 x720 for that is the lowest 16:9 resolution. (I run mass effect 2 at max settings fine with my poor mans setup)

I uninstalled and reinstalled with patch 1.02a and game is now playable much better than 1.00 and none of the problems of 1.03 (so far), but the video performance still seems worse than when I had 1.03 installed. Maybe I will just wait until the next patch before I upgrade.

ME2 isn't quite the same drain on hardware, no matter that the requirements look higher (DA: O understates what is an actual minimum by a great deal). They run entirely different game engines. For this game, try a 4:3 instead, 1024 by 768, and just ignore the side-boxing, unless it ends up stretching it miserably, in which case, play ME2 instead, until you can get a more currently up to date replacement video card (or dig up the CRT you used before buying the wide screen LCD). .

Patch 1.03 isn't fully compatible with Windows OSes other than XP in every instance.  You may have a similar problem, but you cannot, save by an absolute fluke of coincidence, share the exact same configuration of hardware, drivers, operating system version, and service pack, so you will please be so kind as to include all of that in your own separate, new request for assistance, else just forget about having asked.

Thank you.

Please look again at the System Requirements. You have the inexpensive and badly crippled Pentium Dual that is no better than the five year old Pentium P4 when it is as slow as yours. You really should be happy that the game can even run for you at all, let alone expecting it to run WELL on such a low quality CPU.

You need a better CPU, absolutely, or else a massive overclock on that one you have now.  (Because they were stripped of the majority of the on-die cache RAM, they are crippled, but by the same token, it more or less "frees" that model for some huge overclocking numbers, with decent cooling, of course).

I don't agree that. Problem is not my processor. I play this game lots of hours with full graphic detail -Very High, 8x AA, 1440x900- with no FPS or another problem. I play game smooth. SO don't write anything with hardware...

My Steam Profile = Dragon Age: Origins 50.3 hrs / 217.9 hrs and with "NO" problem....

You're going to have to work out what has changed.  One possibility is that you have been ill-advised enough to allow Microsoft free access to do whatever they want to as an automatic update.  That is a noobish mistake, because it's seldom done when you have a recent restore point available.  By eliminating that foolishness, and manually updating, then you can always have a fresh restore point set up before you pick and choose the updates you want.

Next time you are looking into the archives, be more selective about a message thread to reply to.  This one was long past dead and buried, as well as not being truly pertinent.

Most of the folks whose comments made up the thread had ordinary gaming systems.  One did not.  This game isn't supposed to run correctly on the lowest quality of hardware; that is why there are published System Requirements, whether in some respects they are imaginary pie in the sky criteria or not.

For instance, with a bad graphics solution, it may be possible to create only a male player character, and because the graphics are too bad to properly display her, be unable to do so with a female player character.
