I was playing the game and went to the Wardens Keep chest and ALL my stuff was gone. I thought it maybe had something to do with me trying to use the item duping glitch, just to see how it worked. Well then I went to a previous save and it was gone there as well. I had to go back to a save from 6 hours earlier to find all my stuff. I thought that the problem was solved. Today I resumed my game and went to get some stuff from the chest and it was all gone again, but thankfully the auto-save from a few minutes before still had all the stuff. Has anyone else had this problem or have any idea whats going on?

Update: Now it keeps telling me that recent saves are damaged and cannot be loaded. Today, I tried loading the game using 2 saves last night and both were bad. The auto-save from 5 minutes before was good so I loaded that. I then went to Wardens Keep and all my stuff was there so I saved and exited the game to check something. When I got back, the brand new save was damaged and couldn't be loaded, but the auto-save was still good. What is going on? Do I need to just start a new game, thus throwing away the 45 plus hours I have put into this? I even cleared the cache on my HDD last night to make sure there wasn't something with an update messing me up.

I apologize in advance if this comes out snide or rude. It's just old news for me...

Do a little digging around on the forums (if you are so inclined). There is extensive posting and research that has been done about the "Corrupted Saves Bug". It all boils down to overloading merchant inventory. Since the game does not destroy any items you sell to a merchant, but rather integrates them into his/her stock, there is a maximum number of slots the merchant has to work with. Go over that magical number and poof, your files are corrupted. The number of items a merchant can hold is about 548.

There are a few ways you might have triggered this. If you used what many people refer to as the "Crystal Glitch" in Redcliff to get lots of money (by grabbing the free crystals from the tavern and selling them over and over) then you might overload the blacksmith. Similarly, if you sell all of your items to Bodahn in camp or Levi Dryden in Warden's Keep, thinking that it's a good idea to do that so the items will upgrade, be organized in one place, etc. etc.; you may inadvertently build up too much stock with one of those guys. Or perhaps, you even build up too many things in the chest. The Dragon Age wiki indicates it holds about 90 items so I have been careful not to put more than that.

If you can get a save loaded, I suggest you lower the stock of Levi or the chest, whichever might be the offending culprit, and use the destroy function to get rid of the trash. Yes, this will likely force you to use another glitch to duplicate gold (a rather simple one that doesn't put vendors at risk involving quick button presses, look up Dragon Age dupe glitch online if you must) so that you aren't wasting your REAL money you worked so hard for but well, it's better than losing your saves.

I appreciate your help, and that was neither snide nor rude. I had tried to look up something concerning the chest, but never thought to look up corrupted saves (it only started telling me that the saves were damaged today), becasue the only problem I was having was that the chest items were disappearing on me. I must admit that everything you told me would make sense and corroborate what you have told me. I did keep most everything so I think i need to go and get rid of a lot of stuff. Thank you again for your time.
