After two ME2 playthroughs, most recently as an Infiltrator on Insanity, I felt compelled to post feedback about my gaming experience.   My insanity run gave me a new appreciation for ME2 that I didn't have on my first playthrough (since I finished the game with no ammo left except for 5 SMG shots).  Bioware seems intune with reading, responding to, and considering the thoughts and opinions of the players, so here are my 2 cents. (It's long, but complete)
ME2 is an amazing game from all angles.  First, let me say that I absolutely love ME1 and completed 5+ playthrough.  Sure, it had some issues, but it worked well and kept my interest time and time again.  I have read many comments about how "Bioware changed too much."  For me, I want to continue to replay ME2 because it is *not* ME1.  ME1 was fun for the non-combat experience -- Looting, organizing gear, driving up ridiculously steep mountains while never flipping over, etc.  The actual fighting was simple and easy.  Upgrade with a heat sink, get unity and/or immunity, and you become an invincible team with unlimited firepower.  That can be fun.  There are some days when I enjoy plowing through a huge mass of enemies withough the worry of dying, even on hardcore and insanity.  There are also days when I don't mind comparing the stats of every single thing I pick up and converting it all to omni-gel.  A+ for ME1.
ME2 brings to the table less of the looting, but more of the combat.  The sheer number of hours of combat in ME2 is astounding.  The addition of thermal clips makes the combat much more challenging.  It forces the player to leave cover to find new clips.  ME2 would have been much weaker if it were infinite ammo style as in the first game.
I attribute the high replayability of ME2 to the fact that it is not ME1.  Most developers change very little from game to game.  So, while I liked Halo 2, nothing was suprising in Halo 3 or ODST.  The gameplay was exactly the same from title to title which made is extremely boring by the third installment.

I hope that for the ME3 Bioware does another 180 and completely changes the game again.  They kept the parts of ME1 that worked and dumped things that didn't quite make it.  This created a game where I was familiar with the characters and the controls, but provided a brand new gaming experience.  For example, I personally loved the "Mission End" screens.  They worked with the flow of ME2 and the post-level summary.  It would not have worked well with ME1.  Same with planet scanning.  Sure, not that interesting, but after Horizon or recruiting the Archangel on Insanity, I looked forward to the 10 minutes of mind-numbing, combat-free, mineral searching.
My only specific suggestion that I would like to see in ME3 would be the return of armor/weapon stat comparison.  ME2 has a limited # of credits, which made each purchase choice very important.  However, I honestly don't remember what my shoulder armor stats are, or which chestplate I have. Before buying new armor, I would have to check the Kiosk, see what stats each armor had, and then run back to my ship, goto my cabin, and then check out my own armor.  (If I am blind to an easier method, please let me know)  But I am wearing my armor, so I should be able to find the stats of what is on my own body, right?
Great job, Bioware.  Thanks for taking the time to read the thoughts of the people who play the games.
