One thing im sure lots of people wanted was the abilty to remove weapons. alot of people wanted this because they werent trained in the weapon. But still it would be nice to remove the huge clunky things when ur not going to go and blow up some reapers.

not really an issue. Way more important things need to be fixed before this one.

I think I understand what you are trying to say, i.e. why is my adept carring around this missle launcher when he/she is not trained with it. but I can also see that for gameplay reasons they don't allow you to take them off as they replaced the grenades from ME1 which everyone could use.

I'd like more capability to customize my load out. I hate carrying around unnecessary weapons and without hotkeys to get them drawn quickly, having to lug around so many weapons and use the mouse wheel or pause the action to swap weapons is annoying.

If I could control my load out I could cut down to 2 - 3 weapons I definitely use at least the mouse wheel selection would be more tolerable.

Cross1280 you understand my point exactly, im playing ME2 right now, and my adept just doesn't look right, hopefully something Bioware may take into account for ME3

Same issue as in ME1 really.

Why is Shepard carrying around 4 weapons when he only uses 1?

As far as I know its just set up that way.

But as a spectre, you have access to all-idk

Big ditto. I'd give anything to get rid of that big bulky lump on my back that I never use.

I'd also get to use mouse wheel a LOT more often.

ps. the coalesced trick doesn't seem to work anymore either... any modification to the config files leads to an instant crash upon boot.

old thread to reopen but what the heck. I really dont see a problem with them as they are useful and even if you dont use them all the time on boss's etc just use them randomly to get rid of the ammo

I have modified the coalesced.ini to change the class loadout to my liking (that is, I removed the heavy weapon). Looks good IMO. You have to do it after the tutorial though because you need to fire a grenade for the elevator to work.

@pikey: really? works fine for me (newest version and LotSB). I am using strudelmans 1.01 (works with 1.02 as well) coalesced.ini from here and modified it with the coalesced editor (also on that page). You sure it is a problem with the ini?

I'd like to drop the heavy weapons. Even on Insanity I never use the damn things, they just get in the way of the fantastic looking armor. If I could strip my Shepard down to pistol/SMG at the hip and primary carried at the small of the back, like how Praza carries his Avenger, that'd be perfect.

Some of those charged beam weapons were useless during combat, took too long for them to let loose a shot before you got riddled with fire.

I say throw out those and keep the rest!

I really don't see what the big deal is. Why do you want to limit your options in combat? Aesthetics? Do you realize how ridiculous that sounds? In ME1 you carried weapons that you weren't trained in, but if you were so inclined, you could still try to use them. In ME2 you can use all the weapons you're trained in (and get extra training or a super weapon later), with heavy weapons being gravy. If you don't like the look of heavy weapons just pick the flamethrower, it's the smallest and it's easy to forget it's there. Trust me though, heavy weapons make a lot of fights easier, especially on higher difficulties, where it is easier to get overwhelmed. The Arc Projector is a godsend when faced with lots of enemies at once, and it's hard to beat the pure awesomeness of Cain against big bosses like Scions and Praetorians.

Also, one good thing about heavy weapons is that the power cells that you pick up also fill up your thermal clips (except the ammo in your off-hand ammo pack).

the game counts the number of characters in c.ini on startup. if it is lower or higher than it is supposed to be, it will crash. get the c.ini fixer, i think it adds just characters at the end to compensate. look here

but more on topic: shepard wont remove the heavy weapons because he doesn't know what he is going to come up against in the next fight. *you* have played the game and know who comes into each fight, but shepard doesn't really know.

Why can't my soldier carry 4 assault rifles?

If that is the case, they can go the  HITMAN route and have  50 guns on your person.

Necro central here lately.

I edit the coalesed.ini to replace my heavy weapons usually, especially for non-soldier playthroughs.

Let's not forget how others magically pull out handguns and assault rifles out of the air during cutscenes...

But seriuosly, why would a soldier who can use the best equipment, want to carry a handgun?  They should be able to pick and choose the types of guns they want.  Why would you only want a handgun or an SMG over an assault rifle?  AR's are good in every situation.  Additionally, why can't we replace guns with more places to store ammo *now that our guns need ammo*?

Does this mean I get a bar code grafted to my skull?

id like heavy weapons to be removed. id rather have the 4 weapon categories and bioware should be making our abilites be the heavy weapons. our abilites are already half usefull on higher difficulties, and thats the only reason why heavy weapons are in this game, because abilities suck.

i hope bioware is concentrating on abilities usage instead of worrying about which 19 weapon categories to make in ME3. i played ME1 entirely with a pistol for 30 playthroughs, i dont need more guns, i need better abilities.

You are trained in using Heavy Weapons. Did you really think that Shepard couldn't use an Assault Rifle because you don't carry one as an Adept?

I remove heavy weapons throught modding, but i agree with the OP. I mainly do it because 1) i don´t like the aesthethics 2) i find they are overpowered and make the game too easy and 3) i don´t need to find ammo or worry about it. I learn to use my other weapons better and rely on them instead of using the heavy weapons on bosses for example. I find the game more challenging this way, also in my opinion from a lore perspective the only class that should have heavy weapons available is the engineer, that would give much more flavour (and tools to use) to an otherwise unpopular class.

I play on Insanity, and while my use of Heavy Weapons is still limited, I hardly find them overpowered. They're paper cuts to any boss or mini boss.

Then you don't know how to use those weapons. No reason to throw them out. You just need to learn the proper strategies instead of blaming the inefficiency on the weapons themselves.
