Thank you very much Eleve! I will try this out as soon as we get back from watching Alice In Wonderland :P

BTW - Alice in Wonderland (3D) was fantastic. One of my fav of Tim Burton's so far.

For awhile I was afraid that it was going to be Jonny Depp in Wonderland, but it turned out to be awesome, all the characters were well done, specially the Cheshire Cat, and the Mad Hatter did not steal the show :P

Wow, you saved me some coin with this post. I was ready to buy the PC version with the Awakening pre-order deal, even though I already have the Mac version. Thanks for the info!

ikelma, no credit necessary; I just thought it nice and a bit ironic that we can get it to work on the Mac despite everybody, Bioware, etc. insisting on the contrary :)

If this wasn't such good news, it would really be depressive.

Shades of Mac NWN2, anyone?... (including the fanbase coming up with XPack solutions...)

Seems there's no way to buy RTO outside the game. And since the necessary tab is deactivated on the Mac version one probably needs access to a running PC game to buy RTO for one's account.

Seems to be -  I can (1) install the DLC (2) play though the 'first phase' i.e. encountering the chap from Ostagar (3) attempt to journey to Ostagar (it shows up on the map). Then I get a 'fail to load area' error. So, no return to Ostagar :(

I can see no way that an account can be authorised (ie no way to spend my Bioware points). Could the two posters above who claim to have done this provide more detail if they truely have a workaround, because I can't find it.

The whole business does raise two interesting questions, however:

1. Why does Bioware not allow purchase outside the game? I'm *trying* to give them the money, and they don't seem to want to take it!

2. Why has transgaming/Bioware not produced a purchasable RtO for the Mac? Unless there is a serious issue with the 1.02 patch, all I can think is that they just aren't bothering.

I used the Bioware point system to buy RTO

This, specifically, is what I don't understand, particularly given eleve's later post stating this was done without recourse to PC/Win.

Yeah... I'd like to know the answer for that one too. It's not under available content on this site. I was able to buy it by downloading and installing hte PC version on bootcamp but that was the only way I could spend my bioware points to authorize it to my account....

Eleve? how did you do that part? I'm lucky enough to have a capable bootcamp so that I could install and run it but not everyone can do that.... Is there another way to authorize it to your account? We can add bioware points, I just don't know how to spend them on RTO outside of the game!

On a related note I just got it to work and played through it, fun stuff even if it's really just about shiny loots :P Later tonight I'll be working directions on how to do it into the FAQ but it definitely works :)

OK, I bought the 400 Bioware points. They are sitting on my account. I istalled RtO manually. Now, when I start DA:O, RtO shows up as "installed" on my DLC list, with the notice "unauthorized". So, how do I connect my 400 points to RtO??

Yes, I was pulling my hair trying to figure out how to buy the game using the bioware points, finally I just had my bf log into the server with my account, and make the purchase through his pc. If you have a friend you can trust that plays, and have him/her do the same for you, it will work, otherwise, I really don't have a clue how the Mac people can use points to purchase stuff. :(

Ok so now that I have a workin pc install, i bought the 400 points for RTO and installed on the pc side. So is it a matter of manually installing it on the mac side?

Just an update - My Mac version key worked like a champ for the Windows download from EA. Thanks again!

Yes that's correct. that's what worked for me.

OK, maybe I'm daft, but could someone (preferably Eleve, since you stated you didn't need Windows at any point...) please clarify: Do you need a Windows PC version in order to authorize RtO? If not, then how do you do it?

So, which way is the way to go for RtO?:
- No PC needed: Download and install it manually, buy Bioware points. (Authorize it how?)
- PC needed(?): Download the PC version of DA:O that comes with RtO. (Then what? Install it on a PC? Extract RtO from the package and install it directly on Mac, without PC? Is is authorized then?)
-PC needed: Download and install manually on Mac, ask someone with PC version to authorize it for you.

I would love it if it was possible to use the first method, since I don't own a PC, don't want to install Bootcamp, and don't know anybody with a PC and DA:O who could authorize it...

Thanks, used modazipin to install it (and the offer file) changed the version numbers in the 2 xml files noted above and it shows up... Will have to test tonight... :)

To clarify: no I did not use a Win PC (neither another machine nor Bootcamp or an emulation) to get my RTO authorised. The problem I have now is that I can't get it unauthorised again to replay and properly document all I did to authorise it but I do remember fiddling around with everything...eg. as far as I could get using the pdf as base to trying to add it manually in the profile section meant for that...the one thing I do remember is that I got it to show up as authorised in the Profile->Your Registered Game promotions section and after that it worked ingame too.

My apologies for not properly keeping track of how I registered and authorised this. I was idly looking through the forum when I fell over the threads talking about not being able to play RTO and as I had gotten it to work, I thought of letting people know that this can be done.

Thanks eleve for the clarification, so there is definitely a way to do this without resorting to a PC. Now we only have to find out (again) how to do this...

WAAAARRRGGGHHH!!!!!!!

(*goes berserk, sets some houses on fire, chops down some innocently bystanding Hurlocks, eats 50 nugs, drinks lots of bad dwarven beer*)

All right, I'm better now. I needed this. I have sitting RtO on my Mac and I can't wait to play it.

Marvin_Arnold -> this doesn't work for me but can you check and see if RtO is listed when you go to the Games > Dragon Age > Official DLC tab? Because it lets me spend Bioware points on DLC there outside of the game... but only on Stone Prisoner & Warden's Keep... perhaps you'll have better luck? I tried hacking at it the other day to see if I could find some trace or pattern that I could put in the URL to come up with the RtO buy page but maybe it'll just be available there for you?

I'll try to install the PC Version using the Crossover Demo and buy from there. I'll report back.

Hrm, I tried RtO a while ago (you can purchase it on the website, it's just tricky to figure out the URL), but with the same result as above. The first area loads, but not the actual Ostagar zone. The first area is only a short conversation and/or fight and not worth paying for. Are you saying you've actually managed to get Ostagar to load?

FWIW, the next version of Modazipin will support installing Offers, if I ever get it done (playing FF13 right now like I've said previously).

Yes, I was able to load Ostagar and play through the whole zone, although I did not see the achievement for completion of the addon. The trick is to change the version part, like Eleve posted, to get it to load.

ilkelma, there's only Stone Prisoner and Warden's Keep over there. Strange.

RtO is enabled, but unauthorized in my game.
In-game, the "offer" location shows up. Haven't tried to access it yet.
