How do i release shale?

I have the rod, i killed the kitty demon, and i got the correct password and now im in the room with the square tiles on the floor but what do i do?

What happens if you figure out the tiles? Does the little girl live? I suck at puzzles and I don't really understand what Im supposed to do with the tiles.

Yes, you can free the demon by using the tiles, save the little girl and still kill the demon, if you so choose. The tiles simply slide to the open space when you click one adjacent to said space and you need to get the energy beam from the top left corner (as you face from the room entrance) to the lower right corner. The beam jumps in the direction of the arrow on the tile.

I seriously almost don't care about killing her anymore. I hate puzzles.
