So I just beat my first playthrough (was playing Nightmare), and I want to start my 2nd playthrough with an "interesting" party makeup. What I mean by this is, something aside from the standard-ish ones, and/or with charartcers who are awesome to have together. I want to make my next playthrough as diffferent from my first as possible. Here's what my first had:

Hero: DW (dagger) rogue (DPS), Assassin/Dualist
Allister: S&B, standard
Wynne: Healing, Cold and Earth Elementals
Morrigan: Fire, Telekenisis, Death and Sleep

What I want to do is have myself play as a 2H warrior, and also have shale in the party to tank/utility. After that, I'm open to ideas. Well, none of this is set, so I'm really open to ANY ideas. How About:

FEMALE HERO GETS HOT WITH LELIANA
Hero: 2H Champion/Templar
Shale
Leliana: Bow (with the "better/fixed bows" mod), Bard/?
morrigan (all entropy line of spells)

or

ALL WARRIOR SLAUGHTFEST (PROBABLY ME GETTING SLAUGHTERED)
Hero: 2H Champion/Templar
Shale
dog/sten/Oghren (2 of 3)

or

?

I'm just basically looking for some ideas on how to construct as interesting and different a party from what I had before. I don't mind turning down the difficulty if necessary. In my first playthrough i was able to beat it without doing so, but thats probably at least part due to having an ideal party construction.

Thoughts?

The biggest difference - and challenge - would be no mages. I eventually want to try a Big Bruisers group consisting of a 2H pc, Sten, Shale and Oghren. An all archers group would be fun, too, but hard to arrange without using a respec mod. Otherwise, about the closest one can come is an archer pc, Leliana, a Rock Mastery-focused Shale and Alistair (5 wasted talents).  Or maybe Dog, who substitutes speed for ranged attacks.

Yeah, the biggest fear i have about a Big Bruisers group is it being boring.

Mageless parties are fun - they really force you to squeeze every last ounce of crowd control from the other sources.

Good point. I did it for part of the Deep Roads and it was quite different from my usual group but three 2H characters for most of the game would get pretty repetitive. Maybe I'll try archers and speed instead.

Rouges make the best party makeup.

I'm playing as a mage at Level 15 right now, about 1/3 to 1/2 way through. My favorite party in the Deep Roads includes Shale, Ohgren, and Wynne, but that crew sucks for looting chests or doing any sneaking.

I'm also playing as a rogue at Level 12 right now, about 1/3 way through. I like the stealthy kills as a rogue but it's tough when battling magic-heavy foes.
