I was trying to post in one of the DA threads, and I get a message at the top of the screen saying I don't meet the requirements to post in the forum. This is true for both replies to existing threads (which is what I was trying to do) and starting new threads (which I just tested because I was curious).

I can't seem to find any way to enable/disable posting options in the Account or Forum  menus.

Obviously I can post here, so what am I doing wrong?

i think you need to have so many posts before being able to post in those boards. not sure how many though.

Huh. I'm not quite sure I understand... I need to post before I'm allowed to post?

ETA - there's probably an FAQ somewhere that I've missed, since I can't be the only one confused by this. It takes me ages to get acclimated to a new forum, sorry about that!

Although if you're using IE8, that's another problem. Apparently checking off "remember me" causes authentication constantly, and it often/usually fails, meaning that you're not authorized to post.

I'd have sworn I registered everything, but it didn't seem to be stored anywhere. I just reregistered, so it should work now. Thanks for the help!

I think this might be what's been happening to me a lot.

Last night I'd login, and as soon as I went to a thread, the site wouldn't recognize me. I'd have to login again.

Even now, although it's showing my "picture", it's not showing my user name.
