Any fun classes I can use instead of a Soldier? I already beat 4 playthroughs (one on insanity) as a Soldier, and now I'm looking for a new class. Not sure about an infiltrator because you have to pull headshots off, and I'm not sure if I can really pull headshots off without adrenaline rush. I picked Soldier because it was the mix of everything class except that it had no biotic powers unless Concussive Blast and Reave counts.

Vanguard, it is very interesting when you pick that class right after soldier. Vanguard is very fun and VERY offensive. It is one of the funnest classes to play.

Infiltrator's passive skill gives an automatic adrenaline rush on sniper zoom, so you should have no trouble transitioning.

I like the vanguard as well, but the forced ranged fights (praetorians, gunships, collector platforms, etc.) are irritating enough for me that I prefer engineers and adepts to them.  Soldier and infiltrators are easily my favorites though.  Maybe I can get into sentinel if I try out the assault sentinel build.

Anyway, I really recommend giving the engineer or adept a try, especially if you played so much as a soldier as it's a nice change of pace.  In the beginning, you'll still have to use your weapons a bit until you can max your passive skill, but once you do that and acquire the extra 20% cooldown from upgrades (for a total of 40% reduced cooldown), you are a power spamming bot of destruction.  I would imagine it would be a lot of fun after 4 playthroughs of pure guns.

Otherwise, if you'd rather slowly wean yourself off of guns, vanguard and infiltrator will do the job nicely for you.

If you've played soldier, the infiltrator will be the easiest for you to adjust to. The vanguard would be fun and very interesting. It's actually a very different class from the soldier. Be an engineer if you really want to see how different classes can be from one another.

I do the same thing, but better, on my adept.  I take the Claymore with the vanguard.  Yes, on insanity.  I'm not saying the vanguard isn't good or not fun (it's probably the most fun class outside of the annoyances I mentioned).  I'm just saying that the annoyances are enough for me that I prefer the adept and engineer.

I realize the vanguard can be flexible, but I like to play vanguard for the charge and shotgun style of play.  The complete control style you see in that video is the style of play I prefer on my adept.

Actually, that build is supposed to really be played more like this or this.

All the other classes are way more fun to play on insanity then the soldier which is dull IMO.

If i had to pick one which is the most fun though i'd go with vanguard, charging in & destroying enemies while flirting with death is sweet

If ranged fights annoy you when playing a vanguard, pick up area reave as a bonus skill. You can decimate people at range with area reave and warp explosions. If you choose not to use a bonus power, get 1 point in pull and set up warp explosions and that is an alternative powerful ranged attack.

Infiltrator and Vanguard. You really must play both of these. Other classes optional.

vanguard still top my list, but I've been having lot of fun with assault sentinel once I got the 50% cooldown bonus, you just don't die with this character in close combat. remind me of vanguard but with less risk.

I've not played Vanguard yet, but out of Soldier, Adept, Infiltrator and Engineer, Engineer is by far my favorite for the many faceted ways in which they can take opponents out.

An engineer with Dominate as a bonus power absolutely annihilates ME2.

Your engineer already has drone for CC not saying its better then Dominate but IMO warp ammo or reave is a better power to take to deal with barriers as your engineer already has everything else covered.

The other classes benefit from Dominate a lot more then engineer IMO

You could construct exactly the same argument against AI hacking, but that's an Engineer skill too.

It all depends on your style of play.  I like to play a style whereby I keep a crowd of enemies at medium-long range, and the gun rarely comes into use.  If I'm gonna be close, a drone/melee sandwich drops enemies faster than shooting them and has no reload delay.

My engineer had the Attack Drone too.  The drone really only holds off one person.  Dominate, like Hack, causes the entire crowd to focus on the closest enemy.  A well targetted Dominate has all your opponents turn their backs to you and cluster around your dominated person, for which area of effect powers do wonders.

For barriers, I just take along two squadmates capable of dealing with them easily (typically Miranda + Samara).

I can only suggest that you try it for yourself.

If it helps... This video by ThatAverageGatsby inspired me to try for a very aggressive Sentinel build.

They're all great in their own way... I'm personally on an engineer insanity run with dominate, and I must say it's great fun, and suits my defensive playstyle - those red veins and heartbeat really get on my nerves! I think though that for you OP, Infiltrator and Vanguard may be a better bet.

Vanguard is by far the best and most fun to play class for me. Soldier is second, Sentinel is a close third. Adept was kinda meh, Infiltrator was kinda boring for me because I played Soldier before and Engineer is the least fun for me.

I've always liked the classes that require tactical gameplay and allow you to control the battlefield. So it is the Adept and the Engineer for me. But I've recently grown to like the Sentinel a lot.

I already do do this its just that i do it with my Sentinel as he's already got all the tools he needs to handle every mission in the game so i can take dominat (which is my fav extra power btw) without leaving my shep with a weakness.

I guess your right though it really is all about play style & wether you want to be relying on your squadmates to get you though insanity meaning you need to work a little more to keep them alive or if you want to be able to just solo it without them. I go for the solo build & take the right squadmates anyway but if they die this way its no big deal.

Sometimes i even send them out to die just so i can solo it

Hah! I love how me getting my ass kicked is used to promote Vanguards. You can even win too! That might even be more fun.

In all honesty, I've tried various other classes, but the fun factor of the Vanguard just keeps me coming back. Again and again.

Adept for me. Once you figure out how to use that class going through insanity has never been easier. The only thing I don't really like is how reliant you are with what team members you can bring. Going with Soldier, Infiltrator, or Vanguard I felt I could take pretty much anyone I wanted.

Sure, can still solo Insanity with the Dominate Engineer.  That's still no big deal.  TBH, I never had trouble with keeping my squad-mates alive.  Heck, in the platform fight of the suicide mission Miranda stood on top of the cover for the whole fight, and stayed alive.  She took a few hits, but because of the effect of a dominated opponent and a drone running around mid-field, most enemies completely forgot to fire in our direction.  I used Unity a single time in the suicide run because Samara got a reaper tail through the eye, and I didn't even order them to cover for the whole run, just let them do their thing.

The squaddies just tip the balance from "having to work a little" to "complete breeze".  Most enemies with barriers dish out some good damage, and all you need to do is drop a single barrier and dominate them, throw a drone in, and let the chaos commence.  Amazing how much damage you can do to opponents with barriers, even when you don't have any ammo power, when no one is firing at you.  In that respect, the lack of a direct anti-barrier power means little.

Switching topic, those Vanguard videos are awesome.  Top work guys!
