You really think Samara is so great? I like her, but I don't think she was as good. I placed her with 2 starts in my ranking, however know I think I should place her with three.

The real advantage to Samara is also in her short power cool downs.

Even if you don't go for Area Throw or Push, she still wrecks things 'cos she can dish out a pull/throw every 2 seconds.  Couple her with Miranda and Shep with Warp, and she can set up Warp bombs as often a Miranda & Shep can both throw out Warps.

Her Area Reave will leave a sliver of barrier on Insanity for a Collector, for which a quick spray with an SMG/AR gets rid of very quickly across even multiple enemies.

No, it doesn't. That damage bonus she provides goes to waste because to keep the little **** alive you have to babysit her behind cover away from battle. Therefore she is barely shooting at all. With Jacob or Grunt or Legion they can take more abuse and thus can lay down more fire on the enemy.

Clearly you're not using her right if she's dying that fast.  If you've used Miranda for a reasonable amount you'll notice how deadly accurate she is with the Tempest SMG, she's even using it full auto with no spread in fire, something that your character can't do.  Play around with cover some more before complaining about her.

Yes but Jack can use biotic power even faster. But I mostly use Samara.
.
And I was trying here, miranda Slam can engine a warp explosion, making her the only character to be able to be both sides of the warp's bomb.  It can sound a bit bias but at least for me Miranda is clearly another level in this game. But really another level. And I'm not alone here.

Fair enough. I'm approaching this from the standpoint of an Infiltrator. You know, the class for real men who hide with tactical cloak and snipe enemies from afar before they have a chance to react.

By using the word "hide" after "real men" you nullified any argument you had.

Real men find themselves in the thick of battle, drawing enemy fire so that their allies have a higher chance at survival. The Infiltrator's playstyle is the exact opposite, one that is more suited to twitchy 12 year olds who cry in Halo 3 when someone else grabs the Sniper Rifle.

...
...

I kid, I kid.

And Sentinel, they're literally juggernauts from the vids I've seen.

I think Tali is underrated by many people. True she's not an A-rank squadmate but that combat drone can be really useful.

Combat drone distracts everything bar Praetorians, then it blows up, causing significant damage. It also stuns people, knocking them out of cover allowing me to fill them with revenant shots.

If you throw it at a harbinger he shoots his fireballs of doom at it and it actually lasts for a little while, which is all that matters when using AR. AI hacking however is situational, very.

Other things I do to improve her combat ability: Use the pistol in longer range fights, when you upgrade it some she becomes a sniper with it.

Err, I wasn't arguing that Samara was better than Miranda.  Just that Samara was very useful.

IMO, Miranda + Samara (loyal) are the golden squadmate choice, in that if you could only two squadmates to take through the entire game, they'd be my pick.

I think it depends a lot on circumstance and taste. I only really consider two tiers, those who are useful and those who are not.

In no particular order:
Useful: Miranda, Samara, Thane, Garrus, Grunt, Zaeed
Not Useful: Mordin, Tali, Legion, Morinith, Jacob, Jack

Personally I value having to babysit my squad as little as possible, so I like Grunt and Zaeed. Grunt is a tank and goes without saying. A lot of people don't seem to like Zaeed, but I find his weapon damage to be exceptional, and the control he puts down between concussive and grenade are quite good.

Oh I didn't mean to compare Miranda with Samara, the second part of my post was about something I said earlier.
.
And I agree that Miranda + Samara is outstanding.
.
But I'm "engineering a little" and I think I'll stick with Jacob + Miranda due to incendiary ammo.

Max out his lolshredder ammo and spec him Drell Marksman (+50% base dmg) and Thane is a beast with the SMG.

Employ him with a shield stripper and he can snipe instead

You do realize that vanguards get the same shield boost for 4-5.4 seconds which can be replenished twice as fast, right? In any case the shotgun infiltrator, willing to get close using his cloak but without the aid of some op shield, is clearly the manliest class.

As Infiltrator I would say

Tier 1) Grunt - The perfect compliment for any Infiltrator. He's in the thick of it, with huge HP, powerful Melee and Shotgun/Assault Rifle. Gives an incomparable front line while you are behind him, he'll last for ages and damn can he kill husks! Pure Krogan - what else would you want?

Teir 2) Miranda, Samara, Garrus, Legion and Jack (I found her a really annoying character, but great for Close Quarter Battle).

Tier 3) Tali (although would never fight geth without her) Thane

Tier 4) Mordin (would want him non playable normandy scientist ME3) and Jacob (who I thought was the weakest, and most annoying character in ME2... He had one of the best loyalty missions, but I really didn't like him.

For anyone that is wondering why I have Zaeed dead last, I found that dual overloads with squad cryo was more effective than one overload and disruptor ammo against blue shielded enemies. This makes zaeed an optimal choice vs blue shields only for sentinels who already have overload.

You dont have squad cyro early in the game.Squad disruptor is better then overload just for the fact is doesnt have a cooldown time of 12 seconds.

Too bad those
situations barely exists in the game.In the first one, with the mercs
outside the base and the canyons,i enjoy sniping more then now.

After shieldrain she is a-tier against blue
suns, because it also improves her shields. The cerberus shotgun have a
decent range. There isnt any reason to let her use another gun.(a lot of
missions against geth and blue suns are in close quarters)

yeah, I agree the eviscerator made her infinitely more useful, but for collector missions the pistol is better (longer range)
I love my combat drones

Usable:

Miranda: Powers and great complement to my abilities (Adept with Power Drain)

Grunt: High survivability and squad inferno rounds

Very effective against Barriers and Shields, passable against Armor. The only thing that has given me trouble are packs or enraged Vorcha, but nothing that can really kill you.
